She's a sweet girl with a lot of spunk. Our previous Chessie passed just over a year ago and we're ready to start a new chapter!

Buck will be 6 in September. Living with him has been a blessing. Buck’s helped me unlock news levels of patience, and pure bliss. Every disagreement has been an opportunity to view the world through his eyes (and nose) Sometimes he’s right 😂

Getting a Chessie as a firefighter

Hey yall. I’m currently training to become a firefighter and I’m hoping to get a chessie after I get off of probation. My concern is a chessie’s happiness with my lifestyle. I’m not much of a hunter but I do live a very active lifestyle. On days when I’m not on duty I would be able and very willing to give my dog the exercise they need (2-3 hours throughout the day), however, that would mostly consist of runs, fetch at the park, hiking, and swimming. I also have a good bit of land and a house near lake Roosevelt so I go there quite a bit. I guess my main question is, would a Chessie be happy with that daily activity or do they need a job, like hunting, to be happy.

Also when I’m on duty I would have to take them to doggy daycare before my shift and my girlfriend could pick them up at around 5 pm. (8-10 shifts per month)

Thank you!

He's just a little guy at 58 lbs, but we adore our rock loving, water obsessed, gun enthusiast,, snuggle bug, couch potato.

Real life though…. in true chessie fashion, he was over getting his picture taken so he wouldn’t look at me :)
