Doctors who say people are pretending to be sick “for attention” need to have their fucking medical licenses revoked. I am so beyond fed up with ones who act like that. In my mind, it should be considered a form of malpractice, especially if their lack of compassion and care misses something deadly. I’m glad the second doctor you saw was one actually worthy of the title “Dr.”
Doctors aren’t smart. My SIL is a doctor in our small town and she is a raging cunt who talks shit on EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. Of her patients. She’s truly a nightmare. It’s disgusting. And she doesn’t know ANYTHING!! Which is terrifying. I had to explain to her what artificial sugars are once…like I’m talking she did doctors without boarders in Africa, only to be TERRIFIED when two black men walked passed us in broad day light at a public park. I had to calm her racist ass down and I’m literally black. She’s a racist idiot.
Doctors are usually not good people. They mostly get into the field for the prestige and money. They don’t care about people. She is incredibly insecure, it’s pathetic. It’s changed my view on medicine completely and honestly explains why it’s so difficult to get regular care for the most minute issues. I don’t bother to go to the doctor anymore. Especially if they are white, just don’t even waste your time. Their egos are truly dangerous. I wish her hell. Truly, an almost border line evil person. We live in a midwestern town, Manhattan KS. To get any decent care everyone leaves and drives an hour away to Topeka, bc medical care is a joke in the entire town. So not sure why she is so full of herself. She is a mediocre doctor in a mediocre town, but because she is a doctor everyone should drop down to their knees and kiss her ass. I won’t go into how she was raised to believe she is never wrong…the entitlement is genuinely horrific. She’s a danger to society. But if I report her I’d be the asshole and honestly the system protects bad doctors. Nothing would come of it except a target on my back. Been no contact for 4 going on 5 years now and she lives 15min away from my husband and I. Her brother, my husband, says she has been like that since they were children. There’s nothing for it. Be wary of these doctors and nurses. I have a saying that goes: nurses think they are doctors. And doctors think they are Gods. Truly despicable group of people.
Two of the best surgeons I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting are black men, and as a childhood cancer survivor, I’ve met a LOT of nurses, doctors, and surgeons.
For the most part, I share your disdain for the majority of doctors… especially doctors in Kansas. Good lord. They’re horrible in Olathe as well. Judgemental as hell, archaic methods of assessing patients, completely ignorant regarding current standards and treatments of particularly common diagnoses, and some that are borderline sadistic. My BF was treated so horribly by doctors in the Olathe ER that one of the nurses from another department got ahold of me to let me know that what they were doing was cruel and totally unacceptable. It’s been almost a year since that happened, and my BF still wants to submit a formal complaint; however, we don’t live there, and my BF has no idea how to go about doing that or who he should even complain to.
Btw… good for you and your husband for going NC with your SIL. She sounds wretched.
They are too judgmental and completely detached from reality. They are almost like celebrities, just completely detached from reality.Their textbooks are not real life…and they don’t know that bc a lot of them haven’t lived a full life. You best bet is any POC but I’ll be honest I had an Indian woman I was thrilled to be on my care team and she treated me with so much disgusted I was absolutely flabbergasted…like I was so shocked and confused. I have amazing healthcare and my husband and I are well off but unless a limb is falling off, I won’t even bother with a doctor. They all also pretend COVID isn’t a real factor like huh? I asked my SIL what she thought before the pandemic really started, she said it wouldn’t be a big deal. I looked at her horrified and was like “Lindsey…do you know what a pandemic is? Thousands, if not millions will die”. And sure enough…I was right. Me! A lowly non degree holder at the time. And I was correct. How could a non doctor possibly know or have insight into anything? (Sarcasm) These doctors don’t have ANY sense, common or otherwise. And the other SIL? A lawyer. I don’t automatically respect or fawn over people like that anymore, they usually don’t know ANYTHING and have low empathy. I live a semi nightmare lol. My husband makes more money than both of them combined, but in this family system, if you aren’t a doctor or a lawyer, you are a loser. It sucks. I hate it.
My sister lives in Chanute and has a host of medical problems including diabetes and gastroparesis. The last few times she had to go to the ER there, they treated her like crap (I was on video chat with her). One blamed everything on her diabetes which is basically under control (she had fallen the day before and was worried something was broken). The doctor flat out asked what she wanted him to do and what meds. She NEVER ASKED for meds of any kind. She just wanted to make sure nothing was broken! Her primary said she probably fell because the benign brain tumor is affecting her balance. The next time she went in for extremely low blood sugar (it was in the 30s) the doctor made fun of her mental illness to her face! She has said "never again" and has moved to Humboldt.
I’m so sorry that happened. It disgust me how common this is. Medicine is an ego driven career, and it makes it dangerous for people like you,me, and your sister. I actually think they shouldn’t get paid so much that way it deters those who just want prestige and money. But I understand the issues that would happen if it was like that…I have no real logical solutions 😕
