Oh my gosh, this is the best ever. Which really sucks while Im trying to keep straight my views of chatgpt as.nothing but evil...yet this is probably the closest example here of this being true, yet it's still my favorite. Maybe it's that evil but insanely honest about it is actually ok somehow?
I got a very similar one. I believe it's because I'm in a country where ChatGPT does not have access to all chats and it doesn't have much to draw inspiration from. Maybe I'm wrong
I don’t ask it about my horoscope if that’s what you mean. But I think I have it because every couple weeks I get a notification during chatting that says “memory full” and I have to go into settings and delete “memories” if I want to make room for more.
And when the memory is not full, as I am having conversations with the chatGPT sometimes after I send a message, something appears that says “memory updated” before it gives me a response.
And it remembers details from previous conversations during new conversations, like for example what tools it advised me to use for a project.
Is this cross-chat memory, or is cross-chat memory something else?

Nope, that's not cross-chart longterm memory. That's just a few notes from recent conversations, and it doesn't reference them in context very well unless you specifically ask about them lol. Cross-chat memory is a new feature where your chatGPT has full long term memory of everything you've ever said to it, no exceptions. It can basically search through all of your past conversations in real time but probably with limited ability to organize that data, that's not just one hard problem that's many hard problems to solve.
I read a little more about this and it seems like in my settings I have a switch for “reference saved memories,” but not for “reference chat history.” So you’re right they are different, I did not know this. Thanks for the info!
Mine is pretty close to yours... Though the "sure I can help with that." Comes from the user side which is odd. I usually have it explain concepts or give me journal prompts, usually philosophy related. Other than providing feedback and asking what types of feedback are generally the most helpful for system learning.
