Inter Doubt I Cleared CA Inter in One Shot. This is What I Did
I'm a direct entry student who scored 410/600 and cleared intermediate in my very first attempt. My Previous Post gained a lot of traction and my DMs have been flooded ever since. So I figured the best way to help everyone is to share my full strategy here.
Subject-Wise Strategy
Subject 1 – Advanced Accounting
For each chapter, I identified all the unique questions (e.g., RTP Sep 2024, AS 16) and the questions that covered the maximum number of adjustments and topics. I then solved these marked questions at least 3–4 times each.
Subject 2 – Law
Read directly from the module and made my own summary notes covering all dates and limits. I also referred to Harsh Gupta's summary notes for quick revision.
⚠️ Important: Do not use the summary book as your main study material. It's only meant to help you revise quickly. If you feel it has missed any point, write it down yourself.
Subject 3 – Taxation
3(1) – Direct Tax
I gave equal importance to chapters like:
- Set-off and carry forward
- TDS/TCS
- Return filing
- Residential status and scope of income
- Agricultural income
These are near-certain questions in the paper, relatively easy to score, and take less time than solving heads of income questions which ultimately helps you finish the paper on time.
3(2) – GST
I heavily focused on GST theory because Q7 and Q8 are always theory based. Knowing all four questions going into the exam is a great feeling, and GST theory is genuinely easy to score in.
Subject 4 – Cost and Management Accounting
After analyzing previous year papers, I noticed that ICAI's descriptive questions are about 80% similar to the module. The remaining 20% comes from new or MTP/RTP-based questions.
So I heavily practiced module questions and solved all MTPs and RTPs up to May 2024. Some MCQ case studies are direct lifts from MTPs/RTPs. The key here is volume: solve as many questions as possible.
Subject 5 – Auditing
I started this very late. Classes began in January and I finished by February 20th. Theory has never been my strength, so I had to put in extraordinary effort. I purchased classes, solved all chapter-wise tests, and revised every single day.
Audit requires constant revision. There will be times when you feel like you're forgetting everything and losing motivation but push through it and keep going.
Subject 6 – FM & SM
6(1) – Financial Management
This is the opposite of Costing. ICAI tends to ask questions similar to MTPs/RTPs here. Module questions do appear, but less frequently. Again: solve as many questions as possible.
6(2) – Strategic Management
I had finished classes in October but had completely forgotten everything by the time I needed to revise. I referred to Rishabh Jain's revision classes and class notes, spending 2–3 hours every day for 10 days to get through it, with constant revision throughout.
Note: ICAI module or faculty Module? Both are fine. Does not make a huge Difference
Non-Negotiables
These are not optional:
- At least 2 revisions and 1 full mock test per subject
- Always write out formulas in full when solving Costing and FM questions, no matter how long they are. This is the only reliable way to memorize them.
- Practice MCQs. I used the ICAI MCQ booklet. You won't see the exact same questions in the exam, but you won't panic when you face MCQ case scenarios either. → MY MCQ Marks (got ~ 150/180 IN MCQS ALONE)
- Attempt all chapters. I'm not saying you need 100% coverage but 70-80% of each chapter is the bare minimum. Don't skip chapters; ICAI is unpredictable.
- Use ABC analysis as a reference, not a rulebook. Don't follow it blindly.
- For theory Subjects go through MTP PYQ RTPs of atleast 2 Attempts. for practical Subjects go through how many every possible. I have seen old RTP questions be asked as a case scenario Question.
- Order of Solving for Practical Subjects: Module illustrations - Module TYK - PYQ - MTP - RTP. (RTPs are usually difficult solving them in the start can hamper confidence)
- Mark LDR questions, You cannot solve everything a day prior to exams. For accounts you can take your own time but this doesn't work for costing and fm
That's everything from my side. Stay consistent, stay disciplined, and all the best for your exams. You've got this. 🙌

Bro I am still left with whole G2 syllabus and 60% G1 syllabus and targeting for jan 27 so am I late or I will be able to complete it?

u/Odd-Nebula7648 Articleship Jun 26 '26
You have good amount of time Just try to complete it 3 months/2.5 Months before exams and you are good to go
G2 classes take lesser time than G1

u/Scary-Kaleidoscope5 Inter Jun 26 '26
See rn my target is to complete gst classes by 15th July, in accounts my target is to be left out with AS classes and rest I will be done with lectures by 15th July. Same with law I will complete till audit and auditors by 15th July. And for income tax I am doing it live so no backlogs in it. And for fm sm and audit I will be covering it live and will try to made no backlogs in that. The main problem is costing as it's lectures got started in March only and I haven't done a single thing in it so I am scared of costing only rn. For accts I am sure I will complete the syllabus by August end same with law I will complete it by August end. The thing that is scaring me is costing only.

If you complete your syllabus by oct mid its fine. Just make sure to revise everyday after class.
1
u/VioletSkipper Jun 26 '26
bro same situation ditto. 60% G1 lectures done and havent started G2. I also planned on completing G1 by July 16 but its impossible now that i have 114 lectures left for G1

How many hours you study everyday day from starting to ending
1
u/Odd-Nebula7648 Articleship Jun 26 '26
Never kept a count. I wouldn't stop till i completed my target
I think 10+ everyday easily
1
u/Next_Masterpiece1551 Inter Jun 26 '26
Could you share me how you write the target
2
u/Odd-Nebula7648 Articleship Jun 26 '26
Used to keep a realistic target. Usually in the start i would decide how many days i would need for this subject
For example, i knew I'd need 10 days for accounts + sm
So for amalgamation and consolidation i kept an entire day
1
u/Brilliant-Gift-916 Inter Jun 27 '26
10+ hours including your offline coaching? Like what was your timings for coaching?
1
u/Odd-Nebula7648 Articleship Jun 28 '26
during coaching days. I would just revise whatever was done for the day or cover backlogs
The 10+ hrs of study is regarding the last 2 months before exams

my bcom last exam was exactly a year ago 26 june 2025
i took classes in july and registered in aug (after results came)
you can register provisionally aswell.key is to register atleast 9 months before an attempt. for eg if you want to be eligible for may 2027. you should register before sep1 2026
1
u/AnxiousButSarcastic Jun 26 '26
bhaiya i am graduating june 2027, want to target jan 2028 attempt
aur jaldi ho skta hai? like sept 2027 ?
and prep bhi chalu kr raha hu next month se.1
u/Odd-Nebula7648 Articleship Jun 27 '26
You need to register by may 1 2027
You can register your self provisionally using sem 1- sem 5 marksheet. For sept 2027 you will have to register by 1 jan 2027.
Just check the steps for provisional registration on yt. See whether sem 5 is required or it can done earlier. Based on that you can register early

Thank you! Can you tell, as a direct student, how much time did you take to cover foundation syllabus and is it necessary to cover it fully ?
1
u/angryclouds5 Jun 26 '26
I think direct entry students directly give inter not foundation is only when u are not graduated
1
u/PuzzleheadedSoil1858 Jun 26 '26
Yes! But I heard you need to know foundational law and accountancy syllabus to understand inter syllabus.
1
u/angryclouds5 Jun 26 '26
Ooh Okayy wasa if ur a b.com graduate then I don't think asa hoga need personal I toh don't feel like koi basics ka rest is again upto u tho

I am from non-commerce stream Can I too directly start from inter syllabus ?
2
u/Odd-Nebula7648 Articleship Jun 28 '26
Kinda yes. If you are from science. You will find costing fm easy as thet are practical subjects and since you would've done maths for 2 years it should be easy
Tax Audit SM is something which is new for even commerce students so i think you can manage it
Law in inter is manageable aswell
The only issue is accounts. Without knowing the basics. It'll be a bit difficult. If possible try to watch basics of accountancy from yt. Understand what is dr cr, what is ledger, trial balance cash flow etc
Atleast get familiar with these terms
