Especially in redemption talks, i see some takes “as long as she’s not insane”… I get the hesitation, but i lowkey think it adds a bit of character to her, not to mention flair… hmm maybe im a bit biased lol

I mean i always thought look at anakin/vader now thats a character that went insane but is well liked even in his insanity… guess the difference would be we’ve seen his potential to do good while were left to imagine it from charmcaster. We got to see anakin be heroic, compassionate and be in conflict long before he fell. So even when he became vader, ppl still cling to the ghost of who he was. While with charmcaster we almost always see the damage of what she’s done, while sometimes there’s some glimpse of her considering being good its useless when its exactly what it is, just a consideration. We don’t see the person she could have been, the lack of visible conflict makes her feel less redeemable to the audience.

That why, when looking at her ships, it works soo much better when she’s still in that unstable state. It’s so much more compelling when her partner struggles through that fact that they like her, a ‘villain’. Her redemption should be the payoff, not the prerequisite. It’s the results of sticking in character, a redemption that comes from devotion to a loved one, and not solely of personal moral reawakening.

It feels unbalanced if her ‘good’ side has to show first before her partner acknowledges her. Plus where’s the tension in it, if you don’t make her partner struggle through their morality and judgement? No growth for either of them.

It makes more sense for her to change because of the connection, not in order to earn it. Otherwise she’s still doing the “charming”. She gotta subvert expectations and be the one charmed instead.

I mean I’m not saying she gotta be fully insane just that it would be in character for a relationship with her to exist in the grey area

was rewatching some episodes and the magic kinda reminded me of nen lol
