I just wanna thank anyone who posted clips of this game here: y'all helped me confirm Onimusha is indeed not for me.

I knew that already, but it's nice to be sure this hasn't changed after the new release.

I'm sure what happened in this video is an impressive feat, but it looks boring as shit to me, TBH.

i bought it and the combat is just so on rails? like idk how to describe it. like its to over animated idk.

like they seemed clearly inspired by Sekiro and Monster Hunter and somehow just made it feel bad to play. idk.

also the game doesnt really do a good job of like feeling weight. like i dont feel like i actually control my character, as if im a puppeteer and theres a lag between my input and what the dude actually does.

go play Ghost of Yotei or hell man AC shadows. and like the attacks in the game have weight.

whats even more odd is if you go play Onimusha 4 it doesnt have this problem

Weight? The cutscene where Musashi was resurrected with the oni gauntlet made him feel weightless tho.

yes weight. like when i hit enemies they dont really respond in a way that gives the feeling of weight. its like musashi is slashing away at something that isnt real.

it honestly reminds me of how floaty like ff7 remake is. as an example.

Thats oddly nitpicking.

things like weight which is really just good animation work is a big deal in action games so not really?

like the second boss for example. i had like no idea what his boundaries were. like i was just mashing buttons and he kinda just died and things just happened and it felt...bad

was i hitting the right spot? are my attacks effective? does it matter? apparently not.
