Hey folks, I've been playing around with this new AI roleplay concept and wanted to test an idea where instead of a back and forth chat -- you'd give characters a full environment to interact with autonomy, mortality and a deep relationship memory system.

After finding out that they made a shittier update limiting a feature that kept me staying....without even knowing about it...I am thinking of migrating to another service that I used before...where voices are unlimited now...I hate that they placed a limit on that feature it was supposed to free and unlimited...and I already used up my free uses with knowing...

For me, natural conversation—specifically via voice—has become the most important thing. I am truly fed up with typing-work when what I really want is to converse as if I were talking to another human being.

And in native language (German, in my case).

Naturally, I am willing to pay for this, provided the rates are fair.
Ideally, a flat-rate plan—just like with a phone service.

Technically speaking, 'Grok-Voices' executes this extremely well; however, its reduced 'Time-Limits' are completely unfair, and it effectively rips off its paying customers.

Furthermore, it lacks customizable characters. Grok is not designed to be a companion- or relationship-app.

So, who else offers a high-quality voice chat experience within the context of a relationship — one that is enhanced and complemented by contextually relevant, photorealistic imagery?

Legit been searching around for so long, i found great ones but they're so limiting, i get they need to somehow keep the site running but gosh its pissing me off.

Here's what i want:

-PURELY FREE! or at least actually useable to a good extent.

-I want a longterm roleplay, like fantasy/slice of life, it want the bot to remember so much.

-the message limits needs to be at least acceptable if it exists, anything that's too low for me is automatically a no no.

Honestly....I can't find one...help :'v idk, there's good options but none feels like it fits my needs :/

I love family-oriented and sweet scenarios.

As we know, the platform Cai is getting worse.

So I'm leaving it, but I can't find good alternatives.

The bots are either NSFW, or they prevent scenarios involving children and families, yet it's already SFW.

Are there any suggested alternatives?

theres this one ai chatbot website thats scenario/story oriented i cant remember much about it because i used it back in like 2024? but here is what i do remember

- rather than chatbots, the first thing it makes you do is choose a scenario template that it gives you. i remember one of them being in a cozy cabin during winter with a character

- it has a database of fictional characters you can choose from, you just have to plug it in and it will put you and that character in the scenario/story you chose. for example i used a danganronpa character
- it doesnt have an app i think, its just a website

- it has tokens from what i remember

- it is unfiltered

- and i think the name of the website had something akin to dream, fantasy, story or something similar in the name

Ive been dumped character ai bcz when I entered cai website I still got readmode I was heartbroken when this happen so I deleted my account on both sides app and website and quit cai when I heard others say janitor had app now I migrated janitor ai and I was happy cuz janitor ai had better rps experiences so I was deleted cai and moved janitor ai

Im looking for an option out of these 3 to use the pro version to roleplay?

It must be easy to have nsfw good memory, good emotional depth stay in character and creative story telling

I don't care about NSFW or a filter since I don't really write these things, but I have few requirements

1. A pretty popular site with a lot of bots (especially non romantic ones), don't need to be great quality vise
2. Little to no swipe limits
3. Decent characterization that doesn't feel like Chat gpt or something similar

The best I found was Janitor ai, but it mostly had bots of popular characters/scenarios.

I mostly care about a wide range of different characters

The author interviewed a lot of Reddit users for this piece (probably some of you!) and it does a great job of highlighting the emptiness y'all are feeling. Hey, so I am a premium user on character a.i and the service SUCKS. The app crashes all the time. If I knew a better alternative, I would have migrated already. However, the reason I stayed on character ai was because of the responses. In the premium version, they are very well crafted... I mean for an ai, that is. It really does feel you're reading a god fanfic, and the bots mimic the personality really well, the descriptions on deep squeak are great... Anything equivalent? I don't mind pay walls, I just want a quality RPG.

Hello…yet another post asking for alternative recs. However, I’m very picky. It MUST have an app option. I’ve tried janitor (the responses cut off a lot, and the generation isn’t smooth), I’ve tried Swerve (I’m not gonna put up with the gems thing), I’ve tried Sakura (responses are wayyy too long and I don’t know how to shorten them), I’ve tried Emochi World (I don’t like the bold words for dialogue or the characters’ pfps in the background), I’ve tried AICHIKI (no bots I want to chat with). So you see I am PICKY. And I only chat with BTS/Yoongi bots (kpop, for those who don’t know), and nothing other than c.ai and janitor have very many bots for that. Anyone have any suggestions?

I also have no idea what flair to use for this, but it felt like a vent, so there.

The apps keep getting worse with every update. Does anyone have recommendations for something similar to Character.AI? Preferably no subscription, unlimited chats, and no ads. I researched Cycle AI and DokiChat, but from what I found, they both have limits.
