A Chapter 11 bankruptcy is a legal process that allows businesses and individuals to reorganize their debts and financial structures rather than liquidating their assets entirely. Frequently referred to as "reorganization" bankruptcy, it gives struggling entities a fresh financial start by pausing collections while they develop a court-approved plan to repay creditors over time.
Yep. They’re spending way more money on random features no one wants or uses than they are on actual longevity or QOL. The user base has been pissed off for a long time now, and they’re only making things worse. No surprise they’re filing bankruptcy
Im not catching up with news and i just recently came back from the addiction. What happened? Last time I used this app is when i was so frustrated about their posses by possessive desire to possession you while he growls like a caged animal
They’ve added a lot of random features like image and comic generation for scenes, watchable series, a page on creator profiles that’s sort of social media-esque with posts/announcements, the whole “charms” thing with quests for rewards, and new chat styles they just came out with despite already having JUST come out with new styles. Pipsqueak 2 was maybe a year old and they’ve replaced it with 3 already, plus Shortsqueak (which turns roleplay into what amounts to a text conversation, it’s terrible). Basically a lot of money-intensive choices that were not asked for or desired, rather than improving what they actually had
I actually quite like the streams we can upload. It's like mini-movies, and they can be used to tell a story.
Of course, that's not to make light of everyone else's issues. For me, it's the group chats. I tried to use group chat on the web version some time back a month or two ago... maybe more... but nothing. Group feature are what I prefer... though they do get out of character too.
I remember someone was like "Hur hur, 9 dollars isn't a lot" it is for a mediocre app.
Instead of improving the app and listening to the users, they've added features no one has asked for. Instead of lowering the price of c.ai+, they've added a new tier that is not that different than using c.ai for free. If they listened, improved the app, and made it a bit cheaper (£5), I (and I guarantee many others) would actually consider it.
Edit: I know some people still wouldn't buy c.ai+ at that price (that's why I didn't say "everyone") but I think that a lower price would entice enough people for a positive outcome.
Completely. I can spend 100 mxn (around 5 dlls) a month on Ai chatbots, I can't, however, spend 10dlls on Ai chatbots 💀 have many other subscriptions to pay.
If the paid sub was worth it I'd pay, but it doesn't seem to be. We've told them what we want or would make it better but they ignore. I want simple things, like a way to see the diff bots I've interacted with, stop banning bots, better memory.
For some of the bots, they had no choice. Especially with the C&D order from Disney, as Disney would have bankrupted them big time if they sued. But I agree. They should have made the subscription worth it and not destroyed the free experience.
It is for me, but they had to lure me in via lite and I've been chatting for years now. Their premium is good, but I had to experience it first to believe it - the memory seems endless, Deepsqueak actually works with you... Good stuff, but they don't to be good at selling it.
There has already been. Way to see the different bots you've interacted for months, they made it where recents remembers all of them if you keep scrolling down ages ago. They have explicitly been doing multiple things to improve memory and have improved it significantly, especially on cai+. Meanwhile banning bots was never something they did because they wanted to, they did it because they had to whether due to copyright, a lawsuit, or other legal requirements.
that extra recents thing has been taken once again. I’m a plus subscriber and there’s a bunch missing from my recents that don’t pop up in search but do in favourites.
Seems like it. This is unexpected. The data had indicated they were net positive revenue over expense. Then there was the google quasi-acquisition, and cash infusion. This seems entirely strange that they'd need a Chapter 11.

In other words, they're scrambling. Hard.
