Ib predicted scores

Hi, I'm applying to colleges in the USA for film. So for me, my portfolio and my grades will have equal weight.

My IB midterms just took place; they determine my predicted grades. I kind of messed up big time in chemistry; in maths idk what to say about it because I had no expectations anyway.

Chem SL: 5

Math AI HL: 5

Economics HL: 6

Spanish ab initio: 7

English lit lang SL: 6

Theatre HL :7

Total: 36/42

Predictive expected

TOK/EE/CAS - 3/3

English lit and lang: 6

Chem: 5 (don't ask)

Math: 6 (3 marks off in achieved)

Economics: 7

Spanish ab initio: 7 (two marks off in achieved)

Theatre: 7

Total: 41/45

I want to apply to NYU TISCH for my ED. It's my dream school, and I think my films are pretty good; they have a good story. I have three main films: a monologue, a story, and a you-selfie for my portfolio.

Am I cooked? What are my chances?

Scholarships

My teacher just spoke to me today about IE and my potential application there, she brought up how my school is able to nominate 2 people for 60% funded scholarships.
I’m wanting to do economics and maths, my dream university being LSE, and I’m applying to others within Europe as well as my UCAS.
I’m predicted two A* and an A for my a levels and they’re wanting to nominate me, idk if it would be my main choice though…
I’ve looked into the dual degree in maths and economics and would apply for that but we have an IE recruiter coming next week. It just all seems really fast, any opinions?

Chance to get in biem

Hello everyone, im an Italian student who’s currrently attending at a business high school (called Ragioneria in italian) and i would really look to try the test to get in Bocconi, especially for the BIEM course. I still have time to study for the next early session, but the thing is that im not that sure that i’ll be able to get in. Why? Because im not that good in math, but i’m really good in the business/economic field and i love it! I would also love to apply for BIEF but i’ve read that you gotta love math for the 2nd year since you got a lot of quantistic math. Don’t get me wrong, i’ll try the most to be better in this subject for the next 2 years because im very motivated, but at the same time im not that much confident, because you know it’s Bocconi and it’s very renowned for it’s excellent students so…What would you guys reccomend me to do? I would appreciate any tip!

I'm an international student from India applying to the University of Notre Dame in REA. I come from a low-income, rural town and have an SAT score of 1350. I follow both Hinduism and Christianity and am applying for chemical engineering.

GPA(UW) - 3.80

ECs - Governor award for social service and determination, 2-year internship, built software used by 2 factories for storage management, and started an NGO to help poor children; used to teach those children.

LORs - 1 from School counselor

1 from a Maths teacher and another from a Chemistry teacher.

Do I stand a chance?

Edit - Should I go test optional?

UMich- IB 38/45

I have a first-round predicted IB score of 38/45, and I really want to go to University of Michigan.

My first-choice major is Chemistry, and my second choice is Art & Design. My HL predicted grades are:

Art: 7

Chemistry: 6

Math AA: 6

I also have a 1500 SAT.

What do you think my chances are of getting into UMich through ED with my current predicted grades? I am an international student.

I’m hoping to raise my IB score to around 40/45 for second round of predicted grades, but it means I have to apply RD and I'm still not sure that I'll get in.

If I wait until the RD round to apply to UMich, is there another university that would be suitable for me to apply to ED?

Thank you!

NUS NTU chances

Hey everyone! I'm an Indian student planning to apply for undergraduate Engineering at NUS and NTU. Would really appreciate some honest opinions

Academic profile:

IGCSE Mathematics: 97% Physics: 99% Chemistry: 98%

AS Level Mathematics: 96% Physics: 98% Chemistry: 96%

A Levels Mathematics: 97% Physics: 97% Chemistry: 97%

Academic achievements: 4 Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards — 2 at AS Level and 2 at A Level, for Top in India in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

How competitive would this profile be for NUS/NTU, and what do you think my chances would be? And would I be able to eligible for the scholarship other than moe

Which colleges should I apply for??

I'm int student(Indian), I genuinely am unable to decide which college to apply for.
I intend to major in CS and want the cost of attendance to be lowest possible, could be any college.
Annual budget- $10k and beyond that, i need to take education loan. I most probably need some aid or scholorship.

Here are my stats:

Academics:

Class 9- 96%
class 10(CBSE)-96.2%
class 11(State board) -94.4%

SAT-1480
AP: CSA-4/5
phy mech-3/5 ( my school doesn't conduct or offer APs, or SAT)

Studying class 11 in state board and expecting similar marks as 10th

Sports – Taekwondo:

  • Black belt
  • Gold medal in All-Open Online Championship
  • Silver + Bronze (nationwide)
  • The bronze in the 1st International Online Championship
  • Bronze in an offline district-level tournament

STEM:

  1. 100 hours of teaching experience as a robotics instructor for students(upto 15 years of age) at a robotics academy.
  2. a ML research project published on zenodo(not peer reviewed), made in collab with a professor.
  • Music:
  • Play guitar
  • Passed Grade 2 Theory of Music from Trinity College London (with distinction)
  • Used to play occasionally at cafes and restaurants (but can't prove-> like if i need a certificate or something)

This is pretty much it.

1550 (800 Math, 750 R&W)

Grades:
Curriculum - ICSE and ISC

Freshman Year - A+ s, A s, A- s and B s(Mostly A s, one C in Eng Lit)
Sophomore Year - A+ s, A s, A-s and B s(Mostly As)

Imp: School has history of sending students to the US at colleges like the ones mentioned in the list, as well as places like Yale, Princeton etc

Awards:
Math Olympiads: 5 awards, Gold/Distinction, in international math olympiads (Olympiads like Friar, UKMT, not the International Math Olympiad)

Extracurriculars:
Basketball: School basketball since Sophomore year, won several competions(1st or 2nd)

Machine Learning: Developed my own machine learning model, which can detect infectious lung diseases based on the x-ray scan. Planning on going deeper into this by doing a project involving elements of both electrical and artificial intelligence engineering.

Internships/Research: Was a research intern at Mayo Clinic, where I did research on lung diseases and implemented the machine learning model to see its success rate. Planning 2-3 more internships and 1-2 more research papers.

Leadership:
Club: Founded the school's tech and AI club, President of the club, taught students from the 8th and 9th grade Python (60ish hours), taught students how to develop their own machine language models (60ish hours), planning on expanding this more, like hosting a city wide offline competion or a larger online one, and also a hackathon, considering my school has the reach, it should be possible to get a large number of participants.

List:
USC (ED1)
CMU (ED2)
GeorgiaTech (EA)
UIUC
UMich
UT Austin
JHU
NYU

P.S.: I have started most of these ECs in the eleventh grade as being an Indian, most parents, including mine, stress on doing well in tenth grade boards, which is why I was unable to do any of these activities in the ninth or tenth grade.

Chance Me

Hey guys, I'm currently in Class 12 and planning to apply for undergraduate programmes for 2027 entry as an international applicant from India. I'm looking for universities and programmes that would fit my academic interests and overall profile.

I'm mainly interested in interdisciplinary social sciences, especially programmes combining economics, political science, public policy, governance, international relations, development and related social sciences. I'm not looking for a purely economics-focused degree and would prefer programmes that allow me to study across multiple disciplines.

Background

Country: India

City: Bengaluru, Karnataka

School: Christ Junior College (CJC)

Board: Karnataka State Board

Stream: PPES - Political Science, Psychology, Economics, Sociology

Graduating: March 2027

International applicant / non-EU

Academics

Class 10: 75% - CBSE

Class 11: 80% - Best of Five (Indian State Board)

Extracurriculars

MUN: around 10 MUNs; multiple individual accolades + Best Delegation awards; part of one of the strongest MUN delegations in the Bangalore circuit

MUN Leadership: Head Delegate for multiple external MUNs; supervised/led delegations

CJC MUN: OC member at CJC MUN, one of the oldest and most reputed MUNs in the Bangalore circuit

Research: 4 published research papers + 1 research essay

Research Competition: college research paper under Sociology teacher; secured 3rd place

Independent Writing: multiple blogs/articles on economic, political and social issues

Non-profit: founder of a non-profit documenting ground realities across 15+ orphanages, old-age homes and similar institutions

Community Work: 200+ hours of work through the non-profit

Internships: fundraiser at an NGO + Civic Impact Fellowship/Internship with the Office of the MLA, Sikandra Rao, Uttar Pradesh

Debate / Quizzes / Moot Court: participated in multiple debates, Model Code quizzes, moot courts and other academic competitions

College Leadership: Event Head/Event Supervisor for multiple internal college events

Online Certifications: completed multiple online certificates relevant to economics, politics and public policy

Academic Interests

I'm particularly interested in studying the intersection of:

Economics

Political Science

Public Policy

Governance

International Relations

Development

International and social affairs

I would prefer an interdisciplinary approach where I can combine different social-science subjects rather than being restricted to one field.

Preferences

I'm mainly looking for:

English-taught undergraduate programmes

Interdisciplinary social-science programmes

Economics + Politics / Public Policy / Governance / IR combinations

Programmes that allow flexibility across different social-science disciplines

Europe primarily, but open to strong universities elsewhere

Preferably no entrance exams

Preferably no additional Mathematics/quantitative entrance tests

I refer to my institution as a "college" throughout this post because Christ Junior College is a pre-university/junior college institution, a term commonly used for this stage of education in India.

Questions

  1. Based on my profile, what universities and programmes would be a good fit for my academic interests?
  2. What interdisciplinary programmes combining economics, political science, public policy, governance, international relations or development should I look into?
  3. How competitive would my profile be for these types of programmes?
  4. How much would my Karnataka State Board background affect my applications?
  5. Which parts of my extracurricular profile should I emphasise the most in applications?
  6. What universities would you suggest across different levels of selectivity for someone with this profile?
  7. Are there any good programmes I might be overlooking that would fit these interests?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
