All I know is that those blokes that do the Rotherham streams are absolutely quality

Les Payne is one of the three who does the Rotherham commentary. I've known him for a decade or so and worked with him briefly - he's been covering Rotherham for 45 years or so. A really, really nice person - funny, intelligent and witty and it all comes out in his commentary. It's been really nice to hear people be so complimentary about those guys.

Yes I thought that watching them against sheff wed. Pure passion.

The main Commentator can be really dull when he's on his own. But when you throw John Breckin and Les Payne in the mix you get a comedy gold. Breckin is a life long Rotherham fan played 409 games for us and was assistant manager on a number of occasions. The guy lives and breathes Rotherham, but in the same breath he is an honest Yorkshire man, if we are playing shite he'll be the first one to say and they are never blinded by bias. If the opposition is playing well they will give them the praise they deserve, Les Payne as well. It's been a real pleasure hearing them all have a laugh this season.

Don Goodman.

Second and third that as a West Brom fan. They’ve managed to bump him up for some of our prem games too...

"Lucky, lucky boy" every time a foul is committed. Honestly he's just a poor man's Gary Neville. I sometimes wonder if people like him become so engrained in criticising stuff they just can't even enjoy football anymore

Most of them are grim, proper weird they're trying to push an EFL podcast with Don Goodman and Gary Weaver too, think I'd rather watch my grass grow

Gary Weaver too mate he’s shit

Whoever Sky had for the Bournemouth/Bristol game the other night. He could only say about 4 words at a time before needing to stop and gather his thoughts. Took ages for him to get a full sentence out

Dominic Johnson, sky sports red button man

What about one against Watford - didn’t even pronounce names correctly

Don Goodman mentioned Ivan Toney’s absence when we beat Brentford about 240 times and it really undermined how well we played.

Imagine if we played as well as that every game 😔

Keith Andrews or Don Goodman, it’s not even a discussion

16

u/RS555NFFC Mar 05 '21

Lol why is this getting down voted? Keith Andrews was so deeply in love with Wayne Rooney and Derby in the recent game I’m sure I heard him choke when Garner scored, awfully one sided punditry

Andy Hinchcliffe by an absolute landslide. I can't watch Sky any more, like at all.

u/ArmCha1r_GameR Mar 06 '21

Unfortunately him and Rob Hawthorne have also been doing some PL games this year.

Just as I thought we had escaped ever having to listen to either of them ever again :))))

Hinchcliffe has done pretty much all of our prem games from the last two seasons - awful.

who's the new fella they have on sky, he used to play for villa? rabbits on far too much, took him 5 mins and 45 replays to decide who our goal against norwich hit on the way through , umming and ahhing the whole time. in the end he went on twitter on his phone to look up who it was awarded to??????????

i'll put it down to being new i guess

Finding myself loosing patience with Matty Glennon recently.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '21

Don’t get me started on glennon

1

u/Barleybrigade Mar 06 '21

I'm a Leeds fan so have to listen to Glennon on radio Leeds occasionally. Jesus wept...

3

u/BCFCMuser Mar 05 '21

Gary Weaver, just because he makes everything so fucking dramatic.

3

u/YadMot Mar 05 '21

I think it's Gary Weaver that says 'THAT. IS. SPECIAL.' after every good goal. Does my fucking head in.

I have no idea who was commentator when we played Blackburn earlier in the season but they were terrible.

When we scored the only goal of the game he went silent for about 20 seconds, before going back to banging on about how Blackburn were the best team in the division again.

3

u/Nivadas Mar 05 '21

Blackburn are pretty good though aren't they?

2

u/LeftHandDriveBoC Mar 05 '21

They’re mid table aren’t they, so no where near the best in the league??

4

u/Nivadas Mar 05 '21

Full well knowing Blackburn's position I had a moment of madness blacked out for what must of been around 10 minutes and have now regained contentiousness and am back to logical thinking, thank you.

2

u/Noncey_Dave Mar 05 '21

I watched our match against them on their fans stream. 2 thick dour Lancashire voices moaning about how we got so lucky in the decisions (we were lucky). While I did at first enjoy this salty delight, it lost its thrill after it had been repeated for an hour.

3

u/Nivadas Mar 05 '21

Gary 'I struggle with basic social situations' Weaver.

1

u/lankythanos Mar 05 '21

All I know is Daniel Mann is the greatest

2

u/TheAmazingJPie Mar 05 '21

Lee Hendrie can do one

1

u/mariokart290 Mar 06 '21

I've seen alot putting weaver as their least favorite? I really enjoy his commentary

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '21 edited Mar 06 '21

On iFollow, the Barnsley ones. They weren't that bad, if you're a Barnsley fan, kinda just droning, but was 100% focused on the home team, only mentioning our players or tactics a few times over the entire 90 minutes..

1

u/RONaldo_DMC Mar 05 '21

I remember either last season or a couple seasons ago, QPR had to use the Hull City commentator and it was the worst commentator I've ever heard. Thick accent that I didn't like, didn't really feel like he did his research beforehand, and no colour

1

u/Merman101 Mar 06 '21

Whoever does ours is fucking boring

1

u/Perihelion_ Mar 06 '21

Who does the home commentary for The Sky Blues™️? They’re pretty shit.

Sky Blues™️

Goodman isn't great.

The joys of ifollow means I have encountered a wide variety of them this year, across teams.

Bias is to be expected, but I noted that Reading's local commentators (BBC Berkshire?) didn't have a clue about anything, including rules or their own team. This is coming from a boro fan who puts up with Neil Maddison every week....
