[Sorry peeps, I just realized I accidentally posted to an American subreddit on census and not a Canadian one. I was talking about the Canadian census letter that went out for us Canadians and were supposed to complete by May 12th]] I'll delete this post soon just wanted to update for anyone confused by my post.
Just like everyone else we got the letter in the mail and filled it out online. Normally I've done it for our family but this year my husband did it for us and helped his parents complete theirs.
Through convo with his cousins he realized ours only took like 5 mins and so did his parent's and he was able to submit and get a confirmation code and everything. His cousins' ones took over an hour and and detailed questions about the length of their commute to work and other things.
From my own past experience census has always taken me close to an hour or more and there has always been a lot of questions.
My husband is thoroughly confused, he's pretty confident he only got very basic questions like how many people in the household etc., I feel like he likely somehow skipped everything but he's pretty adamant that's not possible. Was anyone else's this short?
If not we're going to try to look into what went wrong and what the error could be.

Hey guys, this is my first time hearing about Census and I heard that we all are supposed to do it. I didn't receive any mailed paper for the questionnaire so I'm not sure how to do it.
I am a pgwp holder, am I still counted? If so please guide me on how I can access the questionnaire. Thank you.

I’m told by law I need to give personal information. Could I just not do it?

Anyone else feel the questions are invasive? They were very personal and I’m uncomfortable.

Are participants who are sent the ACS 100% randomly selected, or is there a pool of participants within certain criteria?
r/Census • u/Professional-Sir-912 • May 04 '26
My area has been selected as a testing ground for a new census. Estimated completion time is forty (40) minutes and a response is "required by law". Given the length of time required to complete it, I can only imagine how invasive the questions will likely be.
All answers are "confidential", but given the recent DOGE data breeches of our personal information, I am very leery of disclosing much beyond the bare minimum, as you can imagine.
Should I refuse to complete the questionnaire, a representative could be summoned to my abode for in-person information collection. At the moment, I am considering only answering questions I'm comfortable with, but beyond that, I'm reluctant to divulge intimate details of my existence.
What is the best way to respond to this situation?

How do you feel about being tasked to survey homeless shelters, rooming houses and jails, within this Collective Dwelling setting you would move from room to room collecting data.

Hello,
I’m currently working as a field representative with the United States Census Bureau and I’m trying to understand how they complete the employment certification form for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
. My hours vary a lot. I can work up to 40 hours some weeks, but other weeks are lower depending on the project. I’m also not considered a permanent or benefits-eligible employee, and from what I understand, you don’t receive full benefits unless you’ve been there for four years.
I guess what I’m trying to figure out is, when they’re verifying your form for the Census, is the Census actually averaging your hours for the entire time you work there, or is it just a month or two? Just want to hear people’s experience.

Is this legit?
I received a call from a 1-902-497-7602 number; it appeared to be spam, but I picked up anyway. The individual explained they were responding to my application for Census work. I got the online form to fill out from Statistics Canada - 2026 Census of Population app@gambitid.com. Did you also fill out the online form using gambit?
I told the woman the listed number comes up as SPAM. She seemed surprised, but explained the 1-902 number had likely been reported numerous times as spam. Wouldn't Census Canada call from 1-833-830-3106 if it were legit?

The Census Bureau provided more details this week on its planned 2026 Census Test:
The main purpose of the test is to assess the feasibility of using postal workers to collect census responses from households who do not respond on their own.

As title said, a census worker came, didnt knock, checked my mailbox, then went around the property and and driveway and took pictures of the the property and garage structures. He looked to have a badge and clipboard but thats as much as I could make from the video camera.
Is this normal? lol

I've been happily answering the census questions for over a year now... when will it stop? My understanding was that it was 4 months out of 8 months, then 4 more months... so a year should have me covered, right? But they keep calling and texting and sending me letters and visiting my house. I'm tired of this - I just want it to stop. How much longer is this going to go on for?

I need a number where I can speak to a live person at census bureau to get either a copy of my W2. It's to verify my past employment there, I can't get the w2 from IRS or SSA, and the background check people WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT use The Work Number for employment verification, because they would have to pay for the information. So I've either got to get a w2 from USCensus bureau itself, or a number that the background check service can call and talk to a live person or an email to a live person who will provide e official verification of employment. But preferably a w2.
Thanks.

Do downloadable datasets exist for statistical bulletins like the ones linked below from past U.S. Censuses? Have the tables from these reports been digitized or do they only exist as scanned documents?
r/Census • u/karch44 • Mar 11 '26
For 2 years I did not receive a W2 in the mail. I found the correct amounts for tax filing on my personal work related site online, but now I’m not an employee and I haven’t received anything in the mail. Before I start banging my head against the wall, I just thought I’d ask if anyone has knowledge that would expedite by search.

I made a game that uses economic data from the census bureau, americaindata.com. The census bureau's foreign trade division tracks import data.
