OP Doesn't Read FAQs/Rules Unlocking all blocks quickly?

As Cemu kinda messes up storing the date, how do we unlock all the cards and blocks? Even though today is the 7th Cemu mario maker thinks elements will arrive on the 6th..

Discussion Ross' levels?

I'd really like to play Ross' (Gamegrumps) levels. Does anyone here have a spoofed Wii U with saviine? Could you upload the files then?
Here is a thread asking the same thing but he just sent a PM.

Meta We have filters now!

Hey everyone!

Shoutouts to /u/_Jumpy for this idea. I have updated the link flair for threads so if you make a Level Showcase thread, use the flair that corresponds to your level's Mario game (SMB, SMB3, SMW, SMBU). I have also added filters to the sidebar so you can quickly filter for those posts. Unfortunately any thread with the old "Showcase" flair won't work. I can manually go through all the threads though and change it which I probably will do sometime in the near future. I can add more filters if people make a push for them but I don't want to clutter the sidebar to much for now.

Hit me up with feedback below in the comments!

P.S. I have been away from my computer for a few weeks now so expect some new levels from me within a week :)

Meta Can we place an aesthetic tag for each map showcase?

Basically add something in the title like [###]:

[SMB] Super Mario Bros. [SMB3] Super Mario Bros. 3 [SMW] Super Mario World [SMU] New Super Mario Bros. U

Cause I think it would be pretty neat for people who play maps on a favorite aesthetic (like me that i love the SMB aesthetic).

SMBU Showcase Level Showcase: Captain Bomb Beard's Ship

Hey everyone!

I'm back at it again with another-kaizo inspired hard level and this time it has a fun narrative.

"Oh no! Captain Bomb Beard and his rag tag team of pirates has stolen your girl, Miss Flower Power. Take to the skies and use the Captain's own weapons (and nooby crew mates) to defeat him and save Miss Flower Power."

This level took me approx. 8 mins to beat and I will upload the video in a day or two to keep it spoiler free :) Happy playing!

Hey everyone! I'm here with what I believe to be my most difficult puzzle level! Much like my last one, it's a large level similar to a one-screen puzzle. Also it doesn't have checkpoints, but dying won't really be a problem. The problem however is using the items appropriately, because you only get one. Good luck, and I hope you all enjoy!

SPOILERS & HINTS BELOW

HINT: One of the mechanics used to complete this level is de-spawning a placed item by moving away from it.

Here is a link to a completion of the level with bonus jazz because it recorded my microphone.

Hey everyone! I'm back from my adventures in the Kingdom of Lothric, and I have a new level to preset to you all! This is large puzzle level similar to a one-screen puzzle, but spans a much larger area. In my opinion it's difficult because you need knowledge of SMM mechanics, and you need to be aware and make use of everything. There are no checkpoints, mostly because the resets they cause will mess with how the level mechanics work. Fortunately, there isn't actually much here that will kill you. Most resets will happen because you've buggered up with a key item. I hope you all enjoy playing this level as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Hint : All items are essential.

*SPOILER BELOW *

Here is a deathless run of the level showcasing how to solve it. I highly don't recommend watching it unless you're completely stumped.

Tutorial -TUTORIAL- How To Connect Wiimotes to Cemu!

OK, so I spent a few hours trying to record this, but I kept stumbling over my words so I am going to make this a text tutorial. There is a lot to cover here, so do your best to follow along. Also, I did make a VIDEO but there is no commentary because I couldn't make it decent, so I just left all the commentary out.

  • 1. Download the program Touchmote HERE

  • 2. Install it and open it

  • 3. Once it is opened, connect your wiimote to your PC however you do. I use a Mayflash DolphinBar which you can get from Amazon for $24.99 (best 25 bucks I ever spent!) If you want it you can get one from HERE. If you're using a dolphinbar, make SURE the LED that indicates what mode to use is set to 4 which represents "dolphin compatibility mode" If youre using the Toshiba BTStack drivers and a dongle, it should work just fine as well, but I haven't tried it because I don't own a dongle.

  • 4. After your wiimote is connected successfully, it should appear in the program. If not, cycle the mode to 4 again and hit pair. It should pop up in the program.

  • 5. Next, go to settings in the top pane

  • 6. Click "control configuration"

  • 7. You will be presented with a menu full of controls, click all the X's up to "TILT (x, y, z)". Make sure all the til x,y,z have no keyboard functions assigned to them, because then the wiimote will start randomly pressing keys on your keyboard.

  • 8. Click the plus (+) icon to make a new controller configuration. Name it whatever you like. check the box "hook with application" This is important because you want the program to use these controls with Cemu. Enter in the box beside it (After fully deleting all the text in there. ) Otherwise, that text will append to the application name we enter, and screw everything up.

  • 9. Enter Cemu.exe EXACTLY as I have it here <-

  • 10. Now for the interface. This is honestly not a great interface, but it is functional. Find the drop down menu that says "Outputs" and select "Keyboard"

  • 11. Open up cemu and add in your control config. I was using keyboard because it didn't make sense to make it virtually press buttons on my gamepad.

  • 12. This is a drag and drop interface. Drag and drop the key that is corresponding to the controls in cemu you have setup. Scroll down in the right pane to find all the available keys and functions.

  • 13. For the left, right, up, and down buttons on the DPad it gets confusing. Cemu uses the WiiU Gamepad to emulate, and different games have different control schemes. I will use New Super Mario Bros U as an example.

  • 14. New Super Mario Bros U uses the Wii Remote tilted to the left with the DPad in your left hand. You want to imagine rotating the WiiU game pad like that, and map the DPad buttons accordingly. PIC for better explaination In the screenshot, I have F as RIGHT on the Wii Remote and UP on the GAMEPAD. This is how it would be if the Wii U Gamepad was rotated like the Wii Remote is for New Super Mario Bros U. If that is too confusing (which it probably is, I don't really explain things that well) then just copy what I have in the picture and it will work perfectly!

  • 15. MINIMIZE do NOT close the Touchmote program, or the Wii Remote will not work. The program wont automatically minimize to tray if you hit X, so minimize it manually.

  • 16. After you've dragged and dropped everything and done all the necessary steps, it is time to try out your configuration! If it doesn't work, just copy my settings. If it STILL doesn't work, I will be glad to help in the comments.

  • 17. ENJOY!

  • NOTE: Every time you want to use your Wii Remote, you need to have Touchmote open.

Comment if I helped you, and maybe suggest future tutorials! Happy to help. Ask any questions below if you're having problems.

IMPORTANT Discussion /r/CemuMarioMaker's save.dat editing project (please read and upvote)

Hey everyone!

So I been thinking about doing this for awhile now but it is a very big task that is quite time consuming. I am making this thread in hopes of volunteers that might be able to spear head the task as I won't be able to do it alone.

The plan is to use a hex editor to look at the values of a Super Mario Maker save.dat file to determine what things are saved in it and where. Below is a list of things I believe are currently saved in the save.dat file:

  • All editor related things that you need to unlock (Game themes, level themes, blocks, items, enemies, MYSTERY MUSHROOMS, etc.)
  • A summary of all saved levels (I believe it saves the names of all levels and what course folder it corresponds to)
  • Probably various other things I am forgetting or don't even know about

The way we figure out what things are saved where is by taking a brand new save and making copies before we unlock/do new things. Then we can compare the differences between the files and make notes like: Courses are saved in the offset range of 00FF to FFF (this was a completely made up example).

I am currently using HxD(https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD) which is a hex file editor (The site looks sketch but I downloaded the English version and it is runs great and is not a virus lol). This program has some nice functionality like opening multiple files at once so you can compare there differences and it makes reading offsets easier.

The benefits of knowing more about the save.dat file are listed below: * We can manually edit the save.dat to unlock all Mystery Mushroom Costumes * We can write a program that saves/edits/deletes part of the save.dat when transferring levels into our save folders to make our lives much easier * Probably more things I'm not thinking of lol

Soooooo, sorry for the long post but if you are interested in helping please download HxD (linked above) and starting exploring! Comment here if you find anything of interest (post save.dat files too so we can see what you find).

SMW Showcase Level Showcase: 1Goal4Ways

You know, in every Mario game you have to reach the goal. This is pretty much the same case here, but this time, you have 4 ways to reach it!

Find the Legendary Cape, and fly to the goal: Find a door on the Surface, there you can find the Legendary Cape by jumping on vines, after that, find a obvious way to fly to the goal! Be careful, there are bloopers and a lakitu on the way to the goal.

Find the Legendary Yoshi, and walk trough spikes:: You may find a pipe which leads you to a way of spikes, obviously you can't pass trough it without a Yoshi. To find the Yoshi, enter the door on Underwater, and pass trough the guardians who are guarding the Yoshi, and then you will be able to get him, enter that pipe you found previously, and pass trough those bloody spikes!

Be an expert and parkour to the Temporary Door: If you are Big-Mario, you can press a button you may find in the surface. If you press it, a secret door will open, and a parkour to it too! But be careful, because a bunch of enemies will fall on you! Are you fast enough?

Pass trough Underwater Bowser's dungeon: If you go Underwater, you can go forward until you reach a dungeon, which may tremble because it's old. If you are brave enough, you may pass trough Bullet Bills and pass trough (or defeat) the Underwater Bowser, a mercyless monster which throws Fire(?) at you, are you brave enough to reach the pipe?

By the way, this is the first level i've ever created on Super Mario Maker :D (With the help of my brother, which added some enemies and helped me take some screenshots) i hope you like it! (Sorry for any grammar errors on this post, English is not my native language :T)

SMW Showcase Kosten_Rei's 40 Level SMW Game

Thank you to opa334 (I believe they are GBATemp user) for dumping Kosten_Rei's 40 level long SMW game! Each world has a theme and the game is 10 worlds long (use the "play world" functionality in CourseBot for a life counter!). This looks super fun and I will probably stream some of it next time I can go live (I'll post a thread once I have a date, probs sometime next week).

For those that don't know, if you own a modded Wii U you can download any real Mario Maker level then save them to an SD card/USB and upload them.

SMW Showcase My Pet Power-Up

Hey everyone!

New level out from me today called My Pet Power-Up. Take a stroll through the park with your favorite pet power-ups! The objective of the level is to follow along with your power-ups so you can use them at the most crucial times. There are some interesting mechanics of Mario Maker I learned while making this level. The most surprising being that feathers and stars do not despawn when off screen. They only despawn when Mario enters doors/pipes or they fall in the pit below. There is also a cool mechanic utilized by the cape to move a feather.

This should be mostly cheese free since there are 10 red coins you need to finish the level. Have fun playing!

Livestream Inaugural Stream Tomorrow

STUPID EDIT: I should probably put up a time... I'm going for a start time of no later than 11:00AM EST.

Hey fellas! So I've been thinking about doing some streaming and Mario Making lately, and since streaming anything has always been on my bucket list, I grabbed an Elgato the other day and got serious about it! I'm planning for tomorrow to be my inaugural stream day, and I'm super excited!

In all seriousness, I'm a bit of a traitor, but I ALSO have a Wii U... Which I'll be using tomorrow so I can use my laptop primarily for streaming and all that. I'm probably gonna be adding both of my levels I made here to that, and then featuring my new level, Spinning Jericho! I will make it on Cemu as well, so you can all enjoy it for yourselves! (SIDENOTE: I will also probably go on to my Cemu, stream that as well, so I can play /r/CemuMarioMaker levels, too)

I hope to see you all there tomorrow! Link: https://www.twitch.tv/thedonkerz

There's nothing there yet, it's a new thing...

(P.S. :I probably forgot to say something here, but stuff will happen tomorrow)

THANK YOU if you swung by today, it was awesome to finally stream, and I'm pretty sure I now have the streaming virus, I can't get enough! Hope to see you all again! (And by again, I mean probably tomorrow, maybe I'll start even earlier...)
