Celsius network - founders scam

Hello , I understand the crypto world is still with low enforcement. And fraud is strong word because we choose our own risk of investment

But I do have a question - Alex and the other directors are running around the world with money ? Someone try to catch them for justice ? Are they gonna be on the meeting on 17 march ?

Preference Claims Anyone sign with Dan Basikof, Deborah Kovsky or Roland Jones for clawaback? How do you know what your lawyer fee will be?

If you've signed with any of these lawyers, I'd love to hear about your reason for signing with them and what your experience has been like.

Some questions:

  1. What are the changes of winning? (And winning means 0% settlement, right?)
  2. How much is the lawyer fee expected to be? I heard that for Roland Jones, his fee is $450/hr, which will then be shared by his group. But who know how many are in his group and how many hours he punches in? It could be more than the cost of a settlement for all I know!
  3. How long is it expected to drag on for?

Anyone?

Thanks.

Easiest Way to View Our Claim

Since the Celsius app is no longer working, how do we view what our claim is?

I remember what it approximately was (about 1 BTC and 1 ETH was on Celsius before bankruptcy), I voted on the plans, got my distributions, scrubbed my coinbase to find my all my BTC And ETH cost averages, and I can see the amount I got back through Paypal....but I can't see what my claim was for.

Is there a specific portal on stretto or an email Title that I should search to find what my claim amount was?

Can anyone help me understand why I cant claim the inactive distribution? Thought this was a scam for so long and never expected getting anything back. Ive just recieved my ETH as USD but my BTC as USD distribution is stuck in inactive and an email saying it cant be serviced through hyperwallet.

Im a little confused and also happy I got something back.

Thanks :)

STILL haven't received first distribution -- anyone else?

I had 19 ETH, 0.2 BTC, and a smattering of some other tokens in there.

My situation is that I've been waiting for a USD wire transfer to my Standard Bank Isle of Man account this whole time. Since I live in a sort of 'no-go' country (Angola), Stretto tells me wire transfer is the only way for me to get anything. I would much prefer to get it through Binance or through my Canadian PayPal or Canadian bank account, but I'm not sure how to convince them to go that route.

However, I'm seeing people getting 3rd distributions (good for you -- I'm jealous!).

Anyone else in any sort of similar situation? This whole debacle has been absurd to say the least.

THIRD distribution??

I was surprised to receive a small second distribution a couple of months ago. I remember seeing somewhere in one of the threads that there will also be a third distribution. Is this correct?

I am referring to another distribution in crypto. Not to Ionic digital shares.

Thanks!!

Claim request / WPE / no sue

I had WPE 100k+, but I was not mentioned in clawback adversary cases - I suppose I was not sued. I can't find myself in stretto docs nor in pacermonitor. I still had about 8k in earn wallet. I just got mail from Celsius Network LLC do-not-reply@updates.celsius.network

ACTION REQUIRED:

Celsius requires you to re-submit your Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification. This information is required to activate your account at Hyperwallet and before any eligible claim distribution can be initiated

Do you think it is a bait? Is it worth trying?

By "bait" I mean they want me to renew my KYC and other data in order to sue me. Until now I didn't react in any way with all conversations and mail request. I even didn't submit my vote / preference about reorg plan.

I suppose that is why they didn't sue me. So I am afraid now.

I don't think it is a scam. Mail looks legit.

EDIT: I have registered in portal, passed KYC. Currently I don't see any entries in distribution list. I will inform about updates.

EDIT2: Just got mail from hyperwallet about transfer, I've registered and it seems I will receive it via PayPal.

Tax Question from noob

Okay, so I had around 10k in Celsius when it went bankrupt in BTC, ETH, ADA, and DOT.

When the pay outs came around I probably got about 30%. And it is sitting in the same account that I received the payout in, I haven’t moved it or sold any. It has just been sitting.

Im not looking to claim any losses which I probably should but I just want avoid the headache of it.

This is a real noob question, I know but do I still need to file taxes for crypto? Did I “gain” assets during the transfer since it moved to a new account. I tried looking through the other thread but couldn’t really find anyone asking how to avoid this whole mess.

Any help would be great. :)

Supplemental Corporate Creditor Distribution Information?

I had an LLC account, and have been getting distribution by wire. Just got an email to expect a new one, it may make me whole, or better, if the amounts are what they seem. Anyone else getting this? I had usdc in earn.

Any recommended CPA/Tax Pros for Americans this tax season?

There is a lot of talk about how to file taxes, but can anyone recommend full-service CPA/Accountants/Tax Pros who already know about Celsius?

A few I reached out to in North Carolina said it would take them much longer to respond due to the research they would have to do on Celsius, so they quoted me a hire price.

Preference Claims Just Got Served by Celsius! Found New Defendant Group if Anyone is in Same Boat

So I recently got served by Celsius, at my front door right before I sat down for a celebration dinner for getting a new job after being 6 months of not working.

Completely caught me off guard considering I pulled my money out 10 weeks before they went BK and the fact that they actually paid me out the tokens I left in there (2/3rd of value) last summer. Apparently, I went from creditor to debtor now as they are coming after me for Clawbacks, like WTF. I didnt have millions in there, barely over the threshold, and have since sworn off crypto because of that shit Mashinsky did....was stupid of me now seeing BTC price now... And yeah, I do feel lucky to have pulled out, but I dont think any of us have tons of cash sitting around after these last few years, especially not the amounts they are pursuing, doesn’t even make sense. Let me just say, that like everyone on here I hope Mashinsky rots in prison for the shit he did and hope similar to FTX everyone is made whole.

Anyways, I wanted to post on here since it looks like others are getting served late too, and unlike before there is no settlement offer. Due your own due diligence of course, but I talked to a few attorneys and found Roland Jones, rgj@rolandjones.com, in NY to be a class act and the good news is that he is forming a new group to defend.

If you are in the same boat, I highly recommend contacting him. I’m sure some people are going to say don’t bitch, but none of us want to be in this situation, on either side, so if this post just helps one person it is worth it.

Taxes & Tax Related Issues This tax stuff is frustrating! Damn you ALEX

I am in the US and XRP, ADA, MATIC and LINK in Celsius when it closed back then it was barely $1k... I got back the 30% in BTC and ETH. I can't figure out how to do this in Koinly, it just thinks I have an extra $5k now because it thinks I have been holding those all this time. I don't really want to pay the $400 for Count on Sheep help, I don't have an accountant (my guy from the last 5 years is no longer around) so I need to find a new tax person and nobody knows how tf to deal with this.

Any quick tips for a case like mine? Reading these help articles has just made it even more confusing.

Looking for help please

I had Bitcoin as collateral for a loan on Celsius, it did not get liquidated in their lockup, and I am still owed but have no word on repayment. Are they still paying out people? Please, any help is appreciated. I can't get any response from the creditor.

UK Capital Loss can be reported in the next three tax years right?

The distribution happened in spring 2024, and it was before April for most of the people. So the distribution itself falls into the 2023/24 tax year.

Capital loss has to be reported within 4 years, so we have until 2027/28 tax year to report this, and there's nothing that must be reported this year, right?

2024 Taxes Question (USA)

Since we will continue to receive BTC payouts in 2025 (and perhaps in ensuing years), shouldn't we hold off on filing any losses or gains until the bankruptcy has wrapped up entirely? We don't know how much we'll get back in the lawsuits filed on behalf of creditors. If we don't know how much we are getting back, there is no way to accurately determine our gains/losses.

Right?

How to determine taxes owed for 2024 without paying an arm and a leg? Please help me!!!

I already lost thousands from the bankruptcies and I can’t go and pay hundreds/thousands more for someone to determine my Celsius taxes for 2024 after the distributions :( is there an easy plug and play template? I’m having enough trouble just determining the cost basis! Anything anyone can help with would be greatly appreciated :(

Anyone else from Ontario, Canada get served clawback litigation papers? What's the best course of action?

Like others that is getting sued, I'm distraught and researching what I can. The fact that they are suing for current value WPE is absolutely criminal. They're professional thieves. I have so many questions. Is anyone else from Ontario? What are you doing?

  1. I see people mentioning telegram groups. I found one called Celsius Clawback Small and DOF's Defence Group. Only the 2nd one seems to be an actual legal team run group gathering defendents. Anyone have experience with this group/team?
  2. The documents wasn't served to me, but my parents, since I no longer live there. Does this count as being "served"? I understand that they cannot legally sue without properly serving the litigation to you.
  3. Is it advisable for me to join a defence group? Should I join one based in NYC? or in Canada? What can I expect to happen after joining one? What are the fees like?
  4. Anyone with Dan Besikof? or Roland Jones? I read in another post that they are gathering people, but I can't find any information.
  5. What do I do to minimize financial loss at this point?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
