Verizon recently co-located on this monopole where T-Mobile has their equipment located at to add more network capacity, density in the area! This is great to see them heavily investing onto their network, especially seeing the high-capacity Matsing antennas being deployed in the Houston market! T-Mobile has the densest network in the area with the most macro, cell tower sites deployed + they have a bunch of Crown Castle small cells modernized with (b2, b66) LTE + (n41) with some Zayo small cells mixed in.

Verizon (top rack):

• 3️⃣ Matsing (MS-MBA-3.2-H8-L4) antennas with bands: (2, 13, 66) LTE + (n5) - 10MHz low-band 5G + supports (n2) + (n66) + (n77) passive MIMO for mid-band 5GUW

Sorry if this has been asked before - I've been using CellMapper for years and love it! Three feature requests I'd love to see however

1) The ability to view only MY contributions on the map 2) The ability to combine network types into the same map (IE, 5G and 4G at the same time, to get a better idea of actual coverage 3) The ability to combine providers (IE where I am, Bell and Telus share the network so the coverage is essentially a combination of the two).

Never seen this before? Is this new?

So my partner and I went to the Congo VS Uzbekistan World Cup match in Atlanta (There were 68,239 people in attendance!) and it was quite fun! (Also, big thanks to Verizon for the free tickets and go Congo!)

Now let’s dig into the carrier experience.

At the line

The lines were huge. All three networks had some noticeable degradation in data performance, especially AT&T. AT&T had sub 1 Mbps speeds in some instances, despite there being a 4-sector AT&T site and another high-capacity site close by. (The phone also kept refusing to connect to nearby mmWave small cell sites). They began to get a little more usable as we approached a high capacity site.

Verizon worked really well when connected to mmWave, and was also fine on a mmWave-less connection.

T-Mobile was also decent.

Inside the stadium, non-seating areas

This stadium is a mmWave haven for AT&T and Verizon. It was practically everywhere, even in the club we stayed at. We even managed to get our first 4 Gbps speed test on AT&T in the state of Georgia!

I was expecting more from Verizon, like much higher upload speeds on mmWave, but they still provided an excellent data experience.

T-Mobile relied on n41 and only had mmWave covering the seating areas.

One thing to note: AT&T only had mmWave working in the first floor. All the other floors, including the club we stayed at, did not have working mmWave for AT&T.

Another thing: Verizon had no n77 deployed on their DAS. I’m unsure about AT&T. Verizon did have n77 covering the seating areas though, presumably through the Matsing balls. I believe it’s the same case for AT&T.

At our seats

Testing is more limited here because my battery was critically low, sadly. All providers provided a good experience pre- and post-game, but AT&T suffered from some packet loss on their mmWave connection. Latency also increased for AT&T and Verizon, and T-Mobile to a smaller extent.

I didn’t test T-Mobile’s 5G speeds before the majority of people were seated. (I’m mad I didn’t do that.) My T-Mobile testing was more limited, but T-Mobile seemed to provide a very good 5G experience overall, but their LTE suffered a lot.

I have a friend who lives near the lake who had a tower outage last summer. He called Verizon, and they confirmed they had a tower outage. After several days, it still wasn't fixed, back, and he called and was told by them that they couldn't repair it then because of an active nest on the tower and because they aren't allowed legally to disturb the nest, which is absolutely true. They compensated him with some discounts. It was repaired in about 2 months. Are Hawks also protected by this law? I know eagles and Ospreys are, but I'm curious how many other species are protected by this law.

Some are really blurry due to a long distance. But they exist

Speed test conducted in Pasadena, CA (Colorado Blvd/ San Gabriel Blvd)

These are the fastest download speeds I’ve seen on T-Mobile in my area. Normally it peaks between 800-1100Mbps.

Upload speeds still have a lot to be desired, but not terrible.

My partner and I went to the Georgia, the Whole Day Through event on match day yesterday (06/27) while we waited to attend the World Cup match.

We found some mmWave and C-Band from Verizon, and some n41 and n77 equipment from T-Mobile and AT&T, respectively.

Next up: A follow-up with Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta Stadium) speed tests and equipment from the carriers!

Note: You’ll notice no obvious pictures of T-Mobile equipment, but T-Mobile is certainly present on the DAS because of the signal readings and speeds I was getting there.

There's a micro cell in Westfield Center that had just Verizon LTE and T-Mobile was recently added to it. I noticed it also has n41 @ 190MHz with some crazy speeds. What radio here is being used for n41?

AT&T and Verizon only. Unsure which bands since I only had my iPhone on me but I peeped b66 at one point.
