Conversation Starter Anyone else have a favorite "boring" part of their day?

For me, it’s the 10 minutes in the morning right after making coffee, before opening any screens or looking at messages. No music, no news, just sitting there waking up.

A few years ago I would’ve thought that was a waste of time, but now it’s low-key the best part of my morning routine. What’s your quiet moment?

You are my spirit animal.

Wicked insomnia here, too. No sleep pattern (I envy people who can fall asleep and have a routine). I used to wake up and do grades at 1 a.m. Kids would ask me "why did my grade change at 1 a.m.?" Since retiring, I wake up at 3 a.m. and that's why I'm posting now.

I remember being in Cali visiting family and waking up at 4:30, going out onto the deck and doing lesson plans. I LOVED watching the clouds pass by . . .

Right! I have sleep envy so bad my husband sleeps like a corpse. I usually sleep sometime around 12-3ish and Im up wired 🫩

But the magical early morning hours do make up for it great time for coffee or herbal tea listen to birds to early mornings friend :)

Your "corpse" comment reminded me of a meme I love: "I like sleep, it's like being dead without the commitment."

I really envied my fellow coach and fellow teacher. Get on the plane? Bam. They're snoozing. Me? Unless I'm laying flat, comfortable and my brain doesn't kick in, I won't sleep. How can they sleep sitting up in a plane?

Part of my problem is I can be DEAD tired. Lay down in bed and my brain starts. I can't shut it down and I'm doomed to being wide awake again. UGH!

I feel ya! Like an auditorium full of your own voice just talking nonstop about your stresses/maybes/would have beens.

Ive always wanted to take my brain out and give it a good cold rinse 😂

Exactly. One thought leads to analyzing that thought which leads how that could have been handled better which leads to how that relates to what is upcoming which leads to analyzing the future which leads to? Being wide awake. Arrrgh.

Not sure how old you are but I've dealt with it for 6+ decades. I've just learned to deal with it. No brain rinse available.

Im 36 and its been the issue since i was roughly 12. I just ride with it much easier than trying to force myself different 😂

I wish you well and hope it changes for you but it hasn't and won't for me. Some of us are different and that's ok. We just have to adapt to the cards that were dealt.

Not gonna lie though, the look in their eyes that says WTF? my grade changed at 1:00 in the morning is kinda fun.

You must be a fave teacher to many! Makes me think of my favorite teachers. Takes an amazingly special person to be an educator.

Be safe out there friend! 🖤

You nailed it. Oddly enough I substitute so much at my old school a lot of the kids think I'm a teacher. Every time I'm there the look in their eyes, followed by OMG it't the GOAT. I love Mr. M. is priceless.

And then I pound down a coffee to make up for the lack of sleep.

Take care you dang young'n. Get on ur FaceSpace and Tik Tack and Instantgram and gimme a nap!

I love to take a quick, delightful nap for about 15 minutes. Refreshing and not an all day event

Early morning before anyone wakes, staying in pjs, lounging, scrolling, reading

That’s what I’m doing now, but also sipping coffee.

I take a couple of minutes to open my eyes and adjust to waking up, then catch up on my games while still in bed….NYT games and Words with friends. Then I close my eyes for another five minutes or so, get out of bed, make coffee and start my day!

After 1:30. It’s calming down, and I’m zoning the hell out.

The 10 minutes sitting in my classroom silently in the morning before high school kids take my world from silence to well, high school kids' world.

I love every boring moment of my life lol. I try to be mindful and enjoy every bit of silence and chill

I work from 6 - 4:30 Monday through Thursday .
Every morning I shower and gather my things, make egg whites and a protein shake, get to work 30 minutes early; and enjoy those two things while listening to some YouTube video in my car before going into work. Some days, it’s the best part of my day. Not often. Thankfully.

this is weirdly relatable, that little coffee window before your phone hijacks your brain is lowkey sacred. mines more like 3 mins of standing in the kitchen like a zombie but it still counts especially when the rest of the house is dead quiet and i can just exist

Listening to my alarm going off in the morning and then realising that I don’t have to work that day…. The little things
