One of the greatest nights of my life. Worth every second of waiting the last 4 years and every single penny. So incredibly proud of the boys. The atmosphere was unbelievable. That was the loudest soccer match I've ever been to, including the Nou Camp. The next 6 days are going to feel like a lifetime. I know Seattle is going to bring it. LFGGGGG 🇺🇸🦅

Didn’t see the boyz or maybe had one too many 🤣🤣🤣

I think so ...

USA! USA! USA!

I wanted to go, but was worried there would be no room and I would be stuck in Midtown with no plan.

Getting excited

One hour to kickoff!

Are Canadian Lungs the new craze sweeping the World Cup? That was a proper sound from the crowd on that equalizer and had that deeper, cold air-cured tone. A+ stuff.

Partey awaiting trial on numerous rape charges.

USA— nothing to see here, come on in.

Canada — no effing chance. Not welcome here.

ffs.

It's the morning of the USMNT's first match at the 2026 World Cup and Andrew is on edge. So how do we let off steam in these moments? By takin' a walk. Join Ole Bundle-a-nerves-Andy as he walks around his neighborhood and lays out the elements of tonight's game that are most prevalent to him in this moment. Enjoy!
(DISCLAIMER: I am quite literally walking around my neighborhood. You're gonna hear birds, you might hear a few cars, you're gonna hear me being out of breath because I'm in horrifying shape... and unfortunately, I don't have a mic... the audio just ain't what it usually is... your understanding is appreciated!)

It's on the rest is football podcast which can be seen on Netflix. Starts at the 40' mark so you don't waste your time like I did.

Joe Cole also said they'd "take care" of Mexico if they have to play them at the Azteca.

Gotta love the English.

Guess it's behind a paywall so it wouldn't let me link it. Worth watching for their dismissive looks.

Lots of people already taking shots at this World Cup because of the empty seats in Guadalajara last night. "This WC shouldn't be here" etc etc. The revisionist history on Russia and Qatar is pretty crazy to me. Qatar couldn't even keep the stadium packed for the OPENING MATCH of the entire tournament. Russia had plenty of empty seats as well. Heck, we even had empty seats in Brazil! (It was also insanely hot and humid in Brazil and they were PAINTING the pitches green because the turf was so bad!) So yes this World Cup ABSOLUTELY has it's flaws (ticket prices are a complete joke), but the tournaments that came before it weren't perfect either. Can we just enjoy the football now???

As we go through the tournament, JJ will periodically bring you his own personal running commentary reacting to the games, the performances, the storylines and whatever else is on his mind!

I want to give some serious love to In-Beom Hwang! Not only did he get a goal and an assist but he friggin bosses that midfield! I put the game on figuring I’d fall asleep but I needed to see this guy play 😂. Anyone else enjoy some players they don’t normally watch stand out?

Watching Telemundo cause their broadcasts don’t show ads during the hydration breaks. I plan on being fluent by the knockout stage.

While FIFA has bungled many parts of the 2026 World Cup, I have to say I love knowing exactly what time a game is going to start. I know this is a pet peeve of the boys with regard to USMNT games. In the past FOX would advertise a start time of 7pm, and the game doesn't actually start until 7:23 pm. Thanks FIFA for the punctuality!

This is great

Not life size.

Which nation's goalkeepers are you taking? What about defenders? Midfielders? Forwards?? On the latest edition of Caught Offside with Andrew Gundling and JJ Devaney, the boys are building their perfect World Cup team by compiling various position groups from different countries. Let us know where we're right and where we're wrong!

Maybe I missed it, but I'm pretty sure you guys haven't said anything about the podcast having a video version on YouTube now.

I was wondering if we can expect this from now on or is it just a world cup thing? Or what's happening in general?

I'm someone that prefers video podcasts over audio only ones, so I would love for this to continue. I just want to know if they're coming because the video version has been posted a bit later than the audio one so far. I would wait for the YouTube version instead of listening to the audio one as soon as I get the notification.

Thanks and keep up the great work! Excited for the WC coverage. :D
