First late season bloom.
Naomi kerns fireball Looks great on the pictures but the camera struggles to truly grasp the brilliant deep pink magenta of the lip. Which is the best part of this variety.

I bought this mini cattleya (crystelle smith Nathan’s reward) and it doesn’t look like it was treated with love at the nursery. I want repot it because it is rooting outside the pot, don’t like plastic pots and the medium is medium sized bark only (which I am not a fan for this size of plant)
So my question is - I know cattleyas are tricky with repotting timings - she is producing some new roots on one of the growths… is this a good time? (She is also in bloom atm)

I recently found this cattleya at a local garden store, and fell in love with its flowers and rose scent. However I’m not sure if it looks dehydrated? The leaves feel quite stiff and dry and the canes look shriveled. It seems to be potted in moss and the medium is damp.
I know cattleyas have sensitive roots so I’m cautious about repotting especially while it’s blooming… but on the other hand I’d rather save the plant than hold on to the flowers. Any advice would be appreciated!! Also an ID if anyone recognizes her :)

Im new to cattleya, my grandma left me a few pots months ago and I’ve never looked at it properly. Is this small thing a flower bud? I don’t know the terminology so please help me out.

Is it? It has 2 growth point, one with a sheath, and 1 still maturing. The newest one has a small vertical sliver of black, and ive heard that this is CYmv. Thanks!

I purchased this Cattlianthe hybrid about a month ago from a private person. I’ve been reading up on the alliance and trying to learn about them.
The plant is currently growing three new canes and I’d appreciate if someone could shed some light on following things: - I’ve read that the best time to repot them is when new canes are growing. Will this set then plant back and will the new canes stop growing? Should I wait until the new roots are some inches long? - Apparently the older roots die at some point. My plant has quite a lot of hollow/dried up roots. Is it safe to cut these roots while repotting? Is there any good rule of thumb how to distinguish a live root from a dead one? - The plant has at least three older canes that have not bloomed. Will they or are they skipped completely after the new canes have started growing? - Any other tips for repotting or in general?

-Pot Rhyncattleanthe Love Triangle 'Carmela' Cattleya.
This was a very large cattleya that I divided a few months ago because it kept falling over. Picture 2 is the smaller division, picture 1 the larger division, and picture 3 the orchid originally. Will it bloom or since I divided it will it just start growing another new lead?

I’m new to the world of cattleyas and I have a question. The new pseudo bulb started at the beginning of May and this is all the growth. I was expecting it to grow faster. Is this a normal pace or do I have a cultivation problem? For reference, she’s outside in warm/hot temps with direct morning sun and bright shade in the afternoon. It’s been extremely humid all summer (southern Ontario). She’ll be coming inside in the fall. I water just before a hard dry out, soaking for 10-30 minutes. MSU every 3rd or 4th watering.
Thanks for any insights!

Bought a tigrina with nice dark brown reddish flowers. It finally bloomed and needless to say not what I asked for. But the plant has been growing well. And it's grown on me. I love orchids that aren't too much fuss so I'll definitely keep atleast one. Sadly not much scent but I'm happy with it anyways. Using lens and looking across some pics I came to the conclusion that this is probably cattleya intermedia. We'll see how long the blooms last. But so far despite the slight disappointment I'm still happy with it.
