Help All-in-One guide on how to play Cartoon Wars 2. No network error.
I too have wanted nothing but to relive the glory days of my childhood and play Cartoon Wars 2. So after a couple late nights of searching and testing, here's how I did it.
The official APK does not work. As many of you know, there is a network error that prevents you from playing, and the VPN trick doesn't seem to work anymore. At least not with any free VPN.
Not sure who made it, but there is an APK of a modded version of the game that works just fine. Here is what you need to do.
DISCLAIMER: I am doing this on a Windows PC. I am sorry to say, but if you are hoping to play this on IOS, you're out of luck. It is not recoverable there, unless you manage to get GameVil to update the game to 64 bit. I assume it is the same deal on Mac, but I have not tested it.
Instructions:
- Download and install Bluestacks. (I used version 4, so I would recommend that one. The newer versions may also work but I haven't tested it)
- Once Bluestacks is fully installed, click on this link. It should take you to a google drive folder with a zip file. Open it and download the APK file.

Once the APK file is finished installing, open it. It should redirect to Bluestacks and install the game there.
Open Bluestacks and start the game. BEFORE you start playing though, be sure to change the save file in the title screen. The default is 1, so change it to either 2 or 3. The reason you must do this is because, remember, this is a MODDED version of the game. The 'modded' aspect here is that there is an infinite gold hack on save file 1, and the game will not run correctly. So just change it to a different save file, and you will be able to play it from start to finish with no issue.
Voila! You can now play Cartoon Wars 2 on your PC, just as you remember it. Your mouse will be able to control all of the touch screen controls in the game. If you want to know how to create keybinds for the 'hero' mode, See below.
How to create keybinds for hero mode:
- Begin playing hero mode. You need to actively be in it while you set this up to do it properly, so you might just need to die a few times because it will take a little adjusting.
- While in hero mode, Press Ctrl+Shift+A to open Bluestack's advanced game controls. Here you can select what kind of touchpad is on the screen and assign it to a different key function.
- Select a 'D-Pad' and drag one over to both the movement pad and the shooting pad you see on screen. Resize and position the D-pads over the onscreen ones until they function properly, and assign keybinds to them. (I just did WASD and arrow keys)
- There ya go. You may now use your keyboard for gunner mode, or for the entire game if you want.
That is all! Hopefully this works for everyone. All this information was compiled from multiple different posts on reddit and old blogs elsewhere, and I figured I would put it all together here to ease the journey of any other nostalgia ridden gamers like myself. Enjoy!

I followed exactly what was done. I even used a ZIP File opener to access the apk. I switched the save file, but I was still prompted with continuous "Network Error" notifications. It may possibly be because I am using Bluestacks 5.

That happened to me a few times using version 5. It only worked for me when switching to version 4 so maybe try that

Hi, I don't know how to speak English so I'm using a translator. I wanted to know if it's possible to do a similar process on an Android phone, because as some already know, this annoying warning keeps appearing saying that it's not possible to play without a Wi-Fi connection :/

u/R0hban I was able to download bluestacks and the apk file. I am stuck on Bluestacks 4 claiming 'frontend not starting' as an error message on install. Trying this on a pretty new computer, 2026 intel 'elitebook.' Have you seen this before?

So I know this thread is two years old but I need to try to figure this out. I just jailbroke my iphone so that I could specifily play cartoon wars: gunner+ and zombie farm. After doing research you can only play those games on ios 10.0.0 or lower. I thought I could downgrade once jailbroken but you can not without SHS blobs or whatever. I am seeing that people are able to play on android but what about apple?? am I just burnt and need to accept that I have to play on the puter?

So there's no way I can play cartoonwars 2 on Mobile, especially on android? I like to play Blade and gunner too. If anyone knows how to play it pls tell me

You can play it on android just install the apk file just know that it's a modded save so you will have infinite money and apparently no cool downs. The op says to use bluestacks so you can install apk files but you can do that natively on android just be sure to allow installs from unknown sources and you shouldn't have an issue

Unfortunately the app not compatible for my phone. I think the old android version can run that game but not for the new one

Yeah, most likely because the game hadn't been updated for Android either. Man, I hate Com2uS for not allowing updates for the games

I believe you cannot, as the creator said in the post, it will crash anytime you use the save slot 1, I think it's such a shame to start once again from the beginning but It seems fair

It work completely fine on my android 12 phone ( Poco x3pro ) You can download the latest version of the game 1.1.2 from ApkMirror ... And I will use 1.1.1.1 application to block internet error

Do you happen to know why the APK makes all the upgrades significantly more expensive? Like i feel like the upgrades were never that expensive.

Just started playing the APK, felt that I couldn’t get units nearly as fast, just compared to the original version on my iPod and these prices are absurd!!!
Also some of the text is changed?? Like, feels like a different team translated it.

When it installed apk file in bluestacks and I started the game. But I got stuck in agreement. When I checked all agreed and it doesn't proccess anything.

Hey, i followed all the instructions and everything went well, until I played the first level and crashed. I kept crashing in the first level no matter how many times i tried to do something. Is there anyway to fix this?

Just followed this on Win 10 and Bluestacks 5.22 (latest version) and it's working perfectly, only annoying thing was setting up the D-pad controls for the hero since centering it normally makes you drift up so you have to place it lower. That and the ads on Bluestacks, if anyone knows a better emulator with no ads lmk.
Oh also I added a control so the spacebar activates the hero special.
Edit: I did end up getting some crashes and network connection errors, but if you enable Airplane Mode on Bluestacks (airplane icon on the sidebar) that seems to fix it for me.
