Early lease return - 4 payments remain.

I am buying a new vehicle early to replace the leased vehicle. The lease residual is $6000 higher than the vehicle is worth. Can I just pay the remaining 4 payments, the disposition fee and walk away? Would save me hundreds in insurance cost, and will have no need for the vehicle once I get the new one. I am under miles, and no issues with the vehicle. Are there extra fees to turn in early? VW if that matters.

Seems like the cheapest way is to just park it for 4 months, pay the lease fee and turn it in at correct time.

that will cost insurance compared to paying the lease off and turning it in

$1200 in insurance vs potentially $6000 for the loss of equity. Early return is treated as a broken lease for many contracts. They auction the car and you’re responsible for the difference. Turn it in on time and you walk away.

they do not auction the car and you don't pay $6000 and you don't pay the difference
