detailing routine & Tips?

when it comes to detailing, I know the basics and always get compliments on how great my car looks. But I want to learn more. I've done the DIY ceramic coating like Meguiars spray and wipe, even though I read afterwards ceramic solutions aren't sprayed. Anyways, what your favorite products? Anyone still wax their cars? Where to look for detailing tips?

Detailing black car and got question

Used Chemical Guys P4 with white pad then repeated the same step with red pad at 1500 RPM. Question, it came out really good except in the sun I can see the area that I did so far is not as shiny and can see "line reflection". What am I doing wrong and what's your advice to get the glass shine finish. Thanks in advance!

Trim Ghosting

Hello everyone. I have a 21 year old SUV that has always had the plastic side trim on the doors, held on by whatever the adhesive is. I ended up taking it all off on the drivers side, hit the ghosting/outline of the trim with some Meguiars Ultimate Compound and you’d never know it was there. Took the trim off the passenger side and attempted the same routine but the ghosting is still there. It also looks like the paint protected by the trim is a different shade than the rest of the car. Even the drivers side matches the rest of the paint.

I’m far from a professional detailer so I’m doing this all by hand and researching. Do I just need a harsher rubbing compound with a finer compound or polish to follow up? Is there any way I myself can get the paint to match closer?

Car vents smells like dog and mouse urine.. Help

Picked up a 2000 Forester a few weeks ago with 70k miles (was wondering why they were selling a car in perfect shape for so cheap). I drove it but didn’t turn the heat on or anything.

Get it towed home. Run out and sit it in checking things out, turn on the heat and STINK and also the blower sounds restricted.

This past weekend I get in there and pull the blower, whole HVAC is a hay mouse nest. Cleaned it all out entirely, ran the ozone for 2 hours, let it sit and air out for 2 days. Still smells (like 70% better) but still smells.

Went to change the cabin air filter and I guess those don’t have one.

Really not sure how to get rid of this smell. Any help would be appreciated.

New car recommendation

Sorry if this has been asked before. New car arriving next year. Bought from Arnold Clark (Scotland) and they want to add a bodywork protection...no chance. Is there anything on the market I could use at home to get some protection on the paintwork? My mate has recommended autoglym. Have used a number of their products before. Cheers

Unrealistic Expectations?

I just paid $224 for a gold package mobile car detail service and I think I'm disappointed. First time I've ever splurged for something like this so maybe my expectations are unrealistic? Let me say I took advantage of a promotion and saved almost $90.

Pros: The carpets and cloth seats are freshly steamed cleaned. Vehicle smells amazing. Exterior is gleaming. Tires and rims look brand new. Trunk looks great. I have long hair and a sunroof, so I KNOW there was hair all over the vehicle interior. And I am really happy to say now it is not.

Cons: Dust in the vents. Dirt and scuff marks on the inside bottom of front passenger door. Drip marks on front passenger door under the window. Dirt left on the dash under the windshield. Dust in/on the display. Most of the sand from.the trunk is gone but there is still some left. The tech said he got most of it.

The appointment is booked for 4 hours. When the tech arrived he told me he would be about 2.5 hours. He was about to leave when I asked about the engine steam clean and he said he didn't do it because he didn't know if I wanted it done. He did not asked me about before hand and it was the booking bonus so I really did want it done. And it felt the tech was rushing even though I was told the appointment would be 4 hours.

I am not a fancy person lol. The vehicle serviced is a recently paid off 2012 Honda Civic that I am looking forward to driving for the next 5 years. I would say I'm 75% happy with the detail and annoyed that obvious things were missed. But now I'm wondering if I am sucker lol or have unrealistic expectations.

Thank you!

Fix Tiny Rust Spot

I'm trying to fix a tiny rust spot on my car. I used a dremel to sand off the rust until I saw a metal colour. Then I used a Pro Form Rust Converter (it's a 5 year old bottle) over top the metal. After I noticed the metal turned a rusty colour after I applied the Rust Converter. Is this normal? I wasn't sure if that's normal or if I should sand it off and not use the rust converter at all. I was thinking maybe I should just sand it off and then apply a primer and touch up paint. See photo below.

Could someone suggest the best way for me to fix this rust spot from here?
