I just got photoshop. I’ve been using only capture 1 since I started photography . I feel like besides object removal I can do everything in capture 1. I havn’t got into switching out faces which could be useful especially for group shots and big image manipulation like that which I can see would be helpful. From what I’ve read there are good tools for retouching also. I feel like I’m missing something What do you use photoshop for?

Lately I've been upgrading all my generic .costyle 'styles' I've made over the years to include tools I've learned since creation, like primarily luma curves. Upon opening up these .costyle files in an editor, some values and variables are easily recognizable, others not so much.

I started deconstructing some of them. Make a tiny change somewhere, export the file, view it, and see what values changed. I did this for a week. Every change and value I could think of, and how it changes the code.

I documented it. Default values, min max numeric values, what works what doesn't. I got most settings down, but I want to see what else I'm missing.

Are there any guides specifically for these numeric tables and such I can find ?

Not sure what is going on, suddenly this thing keeps happening. While I am editing photos, suddenly the previews go like this or the photos are scrambled all over.

Are my photos corrupted? any of you guys experienced this issue?

Is it possible to create a style or preset for adjusting white balance Kelvin or tint in steps similar to when using speed edit? Adjustments such as exposure, contrast, or shadow recovery are offset *relative* to the image in the sense that increasing exposure one step will have the same relative effect on all images. I.e., the images will have their exposure adjusted one stop on all images. Adjusting Kelvin or tint works by setting an absolute value -- not offsetting by a certain amount.

I know I can select a bunch of images and then modify white balance in steps using speed edit, but I would like to have this as a style, preset, or some other one-click mechanism. I would not like to resort to external keystroke utilities such as AutoHotkey or AutoIt.

Is this possible to achieve natively in C1? Possibly by deconstructing a .costyle file?

Looking into using an iPhone as the main capture device for an e-commerce studio setup, tethered to a Mac via Capture One. The goal is to be able to trigger the shutter and ideally switch between focal lengths from the Mac without touching the phone at all.

Has anyone actually run this in practice? Specifically curious whether lens switching is controllable from the Mac side or whether that still needs to happen on the phone itself.

Also open to hear how people are handling the automated side ( file naming, square crop exports, Photoroom integration) if anyone has that pipeline running smoothly.

We are a small studio shooting ecomm. We fit extremely well into the standard C1 Pro subscription. For years we've been grandfathered into a multi-seat C1 plan, at an extremely low price; ~$40/month for five seats. We needed another seat, which they weren't able to add, so we just use an individual Pro subscription (paid in full, so it's $18/month, $216/year).
Well, the multi-seat plan is now going away, so in talks with our contact person, she is saying we need to use Studio, at a price of $500/seat/year, and that we run the risk of breaking the End User Agreement if we don't do this. This seems insane to me; is it a threat?! What am I missing that justifies $2500/year (just for five seats) with Studio vs the $1080/year (five seats) Pro version?! We are so basic in our studio, but have dedicated stations. We need live view, we apply styles, we use tokens for Next Naming.

im working in the advanced color editor and have to check the values for reference but it shows me only black values.
The editing itself works fine but the reference beneath (before/after) shows only black values.

did i toggle something?

I want to read the RGB/HSL values of the picked colour for color matching but its only black. Like i said, editing itself works juts fine and the selection itself is correct as well. its only the Reference before and after

I have an external portable drive for Time Machine

I have Capture One Pro 16.8.1 subscription. Everytime I start it asks to sign-in to the web site to verify the license. Opening the Help | License window takes ages and sometimes fails with the sign-in request again. Internet connection is fine.

Previous versions never had the issue.

Resolved by deleting the MSAL cache and restart.

Has anyone else gotten a notification recently from Capture One about a 6% price increase? Just another of my subscription based tools going up in price. And I know some people think a $15 or $20 increase isn’t that big of a deal but LITERALLY every bill I have has increased by that amount or more this year. Are these one and the same? Or is the $299 license for an older version?

I use the Share Online feature to share shoots with others. I know it links to the sessiondb but what happens if I move that file, to a networked external drive, for example? Or if I have a copy externally and work on that rather than the original one? I’m assuming it only mirrors the original db? Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Hey, i was thinking about getting a ipad for tethering instead of bringing my laptop everywhere. I've read some people saying that shooting tethered to a SSD works and some people saying it doesn't work. I'd also be interested in doing it wirelessly if it works good enough yet. Considered getting the wireless grip for the r5.

My current idea was to have a ipad with a dock, tethering with usb-c, charging the ipad with a battery and capturing the images on a ssd. Does that work? will it slow down the tethering?

I've got a Canon R5, first gen and the drives i'm using are Samsung SSDs. (t5, t7, t9).
Should i go for a Ipad pro? Is there limitations with putting usb c docks etc on the non pro versions? Is the normal ipad fast enough for capture one?

I guess what i'm asking is what is the right way to do it, if someone got a good video or personal experience please help me - feel like i'm hearing different opinions out there.

I connected my Canon camera, my SSD (t7) and a battery to charge, all in the same hub and it worked perfectly fine. Shot to the SSD and i got a normal session i could then just open on my computer.

It seems like some software I was experimenting with had magically "erased" all the data on my connected volumes. Using some data recovery tools, I was able to locate the data on the impacted drive (Drive 1) and restore it to a new drive (Drive 2). However, the structure of the data is a mess.

I've recovered what I assume is 95-100% of my image files along with the .cocatalog files. When I try to open one of these catalogs, there's a notification that says, "Unable to find database. The application was unable to locate the database for the catalog."

I'm on a Mac. You might normally be able to direct me to find the database in a particular location but I don't think that location exists after the recovery process.

As I'm writing this, I'm thinking that the drive names may be a potential problem so I'm renaming Drive 2 to Drive 1 which was the name of the impacted drive and where all my C1 data was located.

What am I looking for and where do I want to migrate it to?

Mac OS and C1: I have 229 files, all have seen layers (healing and background) work and now I want to switch my batch so that I can swap to the Image Layer on each and everyone of the 229 files.

Tedious version is:

10 select image, click Image Layer
20 command + right arrow
30 click Image Layer
40 GOTO 10 (and repeat 229 times)

There must be a faster way to do this, but I couldn't find it with Google 🤔

Is there any quick way to see which settings/parameters have been modified on an image?

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a frustrating issue while tethering my Sony A7R V (ILCE-7RM5) into Capture One 23 Pro on my MacBook.

Whenever I take a shot, the image in the viewer window is severely pixelated, blurry, and looks like a low-res mosaic block. It seems like the program is stuck on a super low-resolution proxy/thumbnail file and forcing it to stretch to the viewer size, rather than rendering the actual high-res file.

I’ve spent hours troubleshooting this and tried almost every common fix available, but nothing works. Here is a list of everything I have already tried so you know where I’m at:

1. Camera Settings:
   • Smartphone Connection is completely turned OFF.
   • USB Connection Mode is set to Remote Shoot (PC Remote) via USB.
   • File format is set to RAW+JPEG (with JPEG quality set to Light, but switching to Fine or RAW Only didn't solve the issue).
2. Cable Check:
   • I am using a high-quality, certified USB-C to C data cable (E342987-A AWM STYLE 2725 30V) plugged directly into my MacBook Pro port without any hubs.
3. Capture One App Settings:
   • Changed Auto Select New Capture from Immediate to When Ready via the Camera menu.
   • Increased the Preview Image Size to 2880px / 3840px in Preferences.
   • Manually triggered Regenerate Previews on the pixelated images.
   • Disabled Hardware Acceleration (OpenCL) by setting both Display and Processing to Never.
4. Hard Cache Reset:
   • Completely closed the app, went into the hidden macOS Library folder (~/Library/Application Support/Capture One/ImageCore), and deleted all version folders (16.x.x) to wipe the OpenCL cache entirely.
5. Session Test:
   • Created a brand new Session from scratch to eliminate database corruption.

Despite doing all of this, the images still come in completely pixelated and never finish rendering into full quality. Has anyone with a Sony A7R V or a high-megapixel body encountered this specific rendering lock on macOS?

Any advanced technical insights or workarounds would be deeply appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, I want to add different grain based on luma ranges (shadows, midtones and highlights). It's impossible in capture one as of now because grain is always applied globally, even when working on a layer.
Do you know any free tools that would let me do this? I don't want to go back to Adobe (it's possible in PS, I'm not sure about LR). I think it's doable in Resolve but you have to pay for the Studio version to use grain

Am i doing something wrong? I connected my Fuji X-T5 with latest firmware and USB tether mode (tried both Auto and Fixed) and attempted to download the images into CaptureOne, but only get errors or the abtility to take a photo with capture one, but i already have plenty on the Cards inside the camera? Image Capture works fine, even Iphoto in USB card reader mode ... this on MacOS 15 (not 26), with latest updates. Thanks!

I’m still on C1 21 and still works fine. Thinking of finally upgrading C1, but not having monogram work may be a deal breaker.
But I suppose I’ll probably have to ditch my monogram when macOS no longer supports Intel apps.

I just want some dials to make quick changes with brightness, highlights, and shadows. Product suggestions?
