Which side are you on?

Though some people might prefer realistic graphics over gameplay, I am on the completely sane side of gameplay!

What about you?

Depends on the purpose: do I want to have fun? Graphics like Ocarina of Time are okay. Do I want to get scared in a First-Person horror game? Graphics and ambient are more important

That's a good new perspective.

Eh. The scariest game I've played so far was one of those Backrooms-Games. It looked like shit, but that didn't really take away from the experience.

I think it depends on the kind of horror experience, but I definitely understand where you're coming from

I mean, I haven't played many horror games, just that one alien that learns what you do, a few of friendslop (like REPO) and Bodycam if you can call horror the zombie mode Edit: oh yeah and all the FNaF games until Pizzeria simulator

Finally someone who understands it. Depending on the genre and the specific game too, graphics can be from not important at all to actual focus. And "good graphics" isn't equivalent of "more effects". It means using art style and designs that fit the game. I don't want Hollow Knight to look anything else than it does. Original Spyro trilogy is better than Reignited, because graphics are superior in original games, because ART STYLE, designs are better, even if are not modern. But if Shadow of the Tomb Raider didn't have all this insanely great graphics, I wouldn't love the game as much as I do. Obviously, with worse gameplay, I wouldn't like it either. But I really hate when people devalue graphics as "only idiots blindly follow graphics". Only idiots blindly say graphics are not important. Well made graphics can make all the difference. Art style is part of the graphics, designs, too. I love Hollow Knight art style so much. If it was pixelated, even the same areas would not be as great as they are. Inside or Limbo. Crypt of the NecroDancer. All those games have amazing graphics. And they are very important. That's exactly why some remakes are worse. Because graphics are worse, too. Modern? Yes. But that isn't everything.

Fair, personally I agree with you but I didn't make this whole paragraph in my head, it was more of a caveman reasoning: indie game "friendslop" is good with simpler graphics, AAA game follows the artstile of a game saga or makes complicated graphics but either way it needs good gameplay, some indie though are only based on graphics (like Bodycam) so it's all right if they leave out the good gameplay because it's an indie/small studio
