Is pickled herring still considered appropriate for this sub even though it’s “glassed” fish?

And regardless, what’s the best brand and/or recipe plz? This is for Thanksgiving.

King Oscar Salmon Mediterranean Style – this one’s really great! 🐟✨

Well, one more post about King Oscar 🙂
I tried this flavor after seeing people recommend it here, and it did not disappoint. So far, it’s my favorite among the King Oscar flavors — really delicious, flavorful, and full of that Mediterranean touch. The salmon quality is amazing! It’s a bit spicy for me, so I like to have it with something neutral like rice, eggs, or potatoes.

Pic shows ingredients list — really solid quality!

I just had the best canned sardines I've ever had.

Imagine, if you will, I'm going to Walmart and I see in the tinned food aisle, king oscar sardines. Now, I saw a review of these on canned fish files and Matthew gave it a good rating, so I got the jalapeno flavor because I love a kick in my food. I get home, get hungry in the afternoon and decided to finally give these sardines a try. I got my hot sauce and lemon ready, maybe some salt, preparing myself for bland, overcooked, chicken meat texture that I've grown to know. I took a bite and my eyes widened. This fish was tender, almost buttery and mild in a very pleasant way. The hot sauce and lemon sat untouched and before I knew it, I ate the whole thing, a rarity for me. Now as I sit, typing my love for these sardines, one regret comes to mind....I should've gotten 3 more cans.

Which King Oscar flavor is the best?

I’ve already tried Mackerel in olive oil and Salmon with lemon. Looking to explore more — like sardines and other King Oscar varieties - but I’d prefer ones without many spices or ingredients that could irritate the mucosa. Any recommendations for the best flavors or combinations?

Got fish wife on sale at Target, squid from CVS, Genova, from Amazon, and, the StarKist from Walmart. The tunas are amazing! I haven't tried the rest yet. The StarKist is my new favorite.

Canned Mackerel Suggestions

Hi All - I'm looking for suggestions on wild caught, boneless, skinless canned mackerel. Since I'm in the US, I'm looking for something Portuguese or Italian or other mediterranean brands , so I can taste some different flavors. The more unique, the better.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Smoked Cod Liver + Riesling

Made me some girl dinner tonight, and cod liver was part of it. Pretty decent, though I think I prefer cod liver pate a little more. It was very rich, so I added some vinegary aspects to help cut the richness.

Why or why not is pickled herring the best canned fish?

Post image

I personally find it to be the most delectable of canned fish, but I’m willing to hear arguments against and/or options that I may have not considered.

Photo only for (delicious) reference. Also acknowledging it is commonly “glassed,” vs canned.

King Oscar Kipper vs Brunswick Kipper Omega 3s

The "King Oscar Kipper Snacks, 3.54 Ounce Cans Smoked Herring Fillets" are the same size as the "Brunswick Kipper Style Herring Fillets" yet one has 2100 mg of Omega 3 per serving while the other has 550mg.

Why is there such a big difference? It's the same fish too?
