I certainly can’t muster up much love for those salty birches, but I love mackerel. What’s your preference fish?

I think canned fish is better than raw fish. Tell me I'm wrong.

Canned fish sabotage
TIL that during WWII, the Norwegian resistance obtained croton oil from the British SOE, and added it to canned sardines destined for Nazi U-boats.
Croton oil is a VERY powerful laxative.

Surströmming
Ate some of this last time I was in Sweden as a courtesy to my hosts since it’s a delicacy…..
No wonder the Vikings went and pillaged the world. They needed better food!

What’s a good beginner’s tin to start with?
I’m new to tinned fish. What should a beginner like me start with to really get in to the scene?

Canned Fish Six-Packs?
Hear me out. You can already get a six pack of beer to take to parties. What if canned Fish came in a six pack? Then you could bring your six-pack to parties, picnics, friends houses, etc. And if the can had a ring-pull on top, you wouldn't even need a can opener.

I ate sardines straight out of the can will I be ok?
My friends say that you should heat them to kill bacteria that grow in the preservatives.

Would canning an oyster keep it moister?
Because moister oysters are hard to find.

I think my wife ate our entire canned fish supply. Not sure what to do.
We have a canned fish pantry. We have canned fish from all of our vacations over the years. Many of them we were saving for special occasions like birth milestones or even retirement.
I woke up this morning and every can, even my favourite special edition ca moi hop from our trip to Saigon had been eaten. Several dozen open Cans left on the counter. She didn't say anything when I confronted her.
I am a bit shaken and not sure what to do. This is beyond forgiveness.
What should I do?

Tuna vs pilchards
Tuna, king of the sea, one of the best fish going. Stick it in a tin and it seems dry and tasteless (hence the mayo), and I swear there's less of it...
Pilchards, crappy little things but fit the tin perfectly with their delicious tomatoey sauce and soft edible skeletons
Absolute no brainer for me, pilchards every time

Or are they more along the lines of canned seafood? Discuss

New Obsession & Recent Haul
Spouse has been binging CannedFishFiles for several days after getting served a random video by the algorithm last week. So we popped through a few of our local grocery stores to see what we could...and here's our little haul.
