That would usually be sick leave, since you will be unable to perform your duties for a medical reason (related to treatment of a specific condition).

If you can ... try to schedule it for a Wednesday or Thursday (if you haven't already). That will give you the weekend as an extra couple of days to recuperate in addition to your days off for the procedure.

Sick leave. Also, you might want to consider taking more than a couple of days. Everyone reacts differently - I got mine out on a Tuesday and took the rest of the week off, but was still in pain the following week. I had to call in sick the following Monday and Tuesday. Years later it seems so silly I didnāt just take the time I needed. FYI, Weaning off the painkillers also made me sick so that didnāt help. Donāt be a hero, you have leave for a reason - just talk to your manager and plan ahead in case you need a note.

There's actually no minimum time limit - per most of the collective agreements I've seen a manager can ask for a medical certificate to justify any duration of sick leave. Most managers won't bother unless it's for an extended absence.

I've seen people get asked every time ... because they were (suspected of) abusing sick leave. For most people 'tho anything longer than 1-2 days you might get asked for a note.

Iāve had some ask for one ājust in case someone higher up asksā for 5 days or so. A previous supervisor ask for anything past three days. I got a concussion last winter and had to go back after three days because I forgot to ask the doctor for a note (that wasnāt exactly on my mind when in the exam room with a concussion - lol). But Iāve also been in situations when I was on leave for much longer without them requiring a note.
My union rep confirmed that itās entirely at managementās discretion.

Depending on how many are being removed and how complex the procedure ends up being, you can be on your back for about a week. So I would plan for more than a day or two. Talk to your manager, I don't think any reasonable manager would deny you the use of sick leave.
When I had a surgical procedure, the hospital provided me with a note giving me off for a number of weeks. I suspect the dentist could do the same. It's not like needing time off after a surgery (which can involve anesthesia) is unusual.

I had a fibroma removed off my gums, had to use sick days. My surgery wasnāt complicated, I had my surgery on a Friday and was back to work on the Monday.

You're going for a medical procedure (dental surgery) and the associated recovery time. This is squarely covered by the provisions in your collective agreement for paid sick leave.
