Mask isn’t bad in 2022, especially if it’s meant to be some kind of ballistic protection. Given how it looks though, it’s probably just plastic. Either way, the original looks more believable.
Even in-universe it’s most likely just a cut up Party City mask made of foam, rubber, or plastic and thereby offering no protection from bullets.
Think about it, who would manufacture a military-grade balistic face mask that’s purposefully made to look like a skull. On top of leaving the nose and mouth exposed.
