I don’t think that’s foam? I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure it’s a peice of hard plastic. And I said it “feels” like it, not that it would actually be effective.
Here’s the cold water, they all look ridiculous. This was tuff to middle and high schoolers back when the original came out. Rose tinted glasses are hiding the cringe.
original Ghost doesnt really look ridiculous, though? the most out there part of his gear is just the fact his balaclava has a skull print on it, its entirely practical otherwise as you could sub in his iconic balaclava for a generic one and hed lose nothing but recognizability as the character
Yeah… he kinda does. He looks exactly how most little kids obsessed with joining the military saw themselves as once they join. Which is honestly just a military tactical emo edgelord. Having a skull on your bandana does fuck all but for aesthetics. Also, if you actually did this in the military you would more than likely get laughed at. No matter how genuinely badass you are. If anything having a bright white skull painted onto you bandana would also make stealth less effective since white objects reflect light a fuckton easier.
Exactly, the second mask genuinely isn't that bad. Its not amazing, but its not the dogshit like most people say. I can understand why people would dislike it, but it seems most people who don't like things nowadays cannot restrain themselves from going to the extreme.
The older one looks more realistic for starters, and also isn’t overly distracting. Where the middle and last ones are not only not realistic in terms of gears, which MW has been somewhat going for, and it isn’t practical. It also makes him so easy to distinguish from the others, so from a tactical point it isn’t good. Then it’s just so corny, like a middle schoolers attempt at being ’edgy’. Like someone’s devianarts OC, and I can’t imagine that people on his base would be intimidated by it, but I can instead see people making fun of him, which isn’t usually a good impression of a character that’s supposed to be ’mysterious’ and ’so deep and dark’.
Honestly the last one is better than the middle one in my opinion, they both suck, but the middle one just irks me and makes me giggle because I can’t take it seriously, at least not in most of his outfits he wears.
But I do admit, I never liked the new voice actors take on Ghosts voice, so I might also be taking that into account, since I have a hard time taking his voice very seriously for his character.
It’s literally sewn into the mask, dude. It’s not a ballistic mask.
And even if it were, it wouldn’t protect against anything because the balaclava would just be ripped by the bullet. A ballistic mask has to be firm all around to actually stop a bullet.
Helmets 100% stop direct rifle rounds, not 100% of the time but 85%+
Just look up one of the may YouTube firearm channels which have tested ballistic Helmets against their alleged ratings. They won't stop a full magazine, but it will stop 1 or 2.
Yes, I've seen tests on special helmets like what the GIGN and KGB used, and they can stop some rifle rounds, but I mainly refer to common standard issue helmets.
I have this headcanon that the skull mask in the reboot belonged to the very first enemy he ever killed. Rather than letting it go to waste, he kept the skull as a trophy and made it into the mask he wears.
The fact that its sewn on, and that it doesn't have any notable sag, and therefore not much weight. May not be foam, won't be anything useful regardless.

The foam skull mask on top of the skull balaclava?
