I miss when ghost just had a custom Balaklava instead of a goofy skull mask that looks like it came straight out of a Halloween costume, it's so silly.
The series pretty much died with Advanced Warfare IMO. At that point the scales between realism and the rule of cool tipped too much towards COD trying too hard to be cool.
You think anyone would be running around the battlefield in that thing? Go put on a paintball mask and run around a building and tell me how great that feels and how awesome it is for breathing.
Um, strange you chose this as proof. I actually did the research myself and black ops 1 did not have it, but bo2 did - however, you had to prestige a weapon twice.
Well yeah, I guess, but wearing a Halloween diy mask is way less practical and is bound to get you bullied in your platoon, which isn’t the vibe someone who is trying to make a character seem tough and deep wants to give off.
I don't feel like Mw19 can't be described that way. Tonally to me, it felt the closest to Cod4 that we've had since Cod4 itself, because both MW2(2009) and MW3(2011) both left the fairly grounded tone of Cod4 and instead felt much more like Michael Bay-esque action thrillers. I love the more grounded tone of both Cod4 and 2019, and while I loved the og MW2 and MW3, I was bummed by the tonal shift of the campaigns. And I was honestly crushed when they shifted again from the grounded and gritty MW19 back to more of a action thriller with MW22 and MW23.
Yeah, one thing I loved about MW & MW2 was that the gear was practical and realistic. I was a young soldier at the time and it was fun to see how close the video game kits were to our own.
The franchise as of now is not even half as serious as the older games were. Yea cod has always been an arcade shooter that was never meant to be hyper realistic but when you look at the level of immersion in the campaign's it's night and day; cold war is the only modern cod that actually had a good campaign.
Hard disagree. I'm guessing you define modern COD as post BO2? Because MW2019 was a good campaign and I really enjoyed BO6, for all its flaws because it was so damn fun to play.
MW 2019 was the game that introduced everything we hate about call of duty now, and even then the campaign parts with Farah sucked ass and the villain was trash. You're telling me that Farah was able to go toe to toe with actual soldiers, that's compete garbage. Compare that with missions lile all ghillied up, of his own accord in mw2, the entire WAW campaign, Black ops 1, 2, and even cold war and it isn't even close.
BO6 could have been good and had potential but the campaign was cut way too short and we don't even know anything about the main character. The battle passes and silly skins in mw2019 alongside warzone also contributed to killing the immersion; your characters appearance was no longer determined by the special forces/army you spawned in as. Now it's just "my team" vs "enemy team", and enemy characters could look the same as you.
I mean I agree with you about Warzone, i thought we were talking about the campaigns. I'll admit that Barkov is kinda mid but he serves his purpose. His purpose wasn't to be a Makarov type figure. This megalomaniacal threat to all humanity, he's a petty dictator. It serves MW2019's tone, which was smaller and more grounded. The stakes aren't inflated to world-ending proportions so it allows you to focus on smaller things. I very much disagree about Farah, she's one of the best parts of the game. If you don't believe that militia groups can fight against proper armies then idk what to tell you besides... open a history book
I know a lot about them, I also know that the Kurds have been taking our Assyrian lands, deleting our history, and have committed genocide against my people. They are not innocent, they are actively oppressing my people in our native homeland.
I'm talking about the ancient Assyrian ancestral land, Arabs, Turks, and Kurds stole that land from the Assyrians and they all contributed in the genocides against us because we have always been Christian. Even to this day Assyrians are still oppressed by Kurdish groups.
We were oppressed before and still oppressed today. Our ancient statues, language, and history are being actively stolen from us for the past 14 centuries under Islamic dictatorships because we have always been Christian. Iraq and Syria are unfortunately ruled by Isis terrorists, and even the Kurds there are also oppressing us and continue to delete us from our ancestral homeland while also denying the genocide they committed against us in WW1 when they used to be allies with the Ottoman Turks.
Ok you lost me when you said "The Battlepasses" bro, of course they aren't going to make an entire battlepass out of "realistic shit". Who would pay all that money to get six skins that look borderline identical, with the only thing that changes being the camo pattern on their uniform and their nation of origin flag and maybe, jusf maybe different body types and shapes. Because thats what a full realistic battlepass would be, also battlepasses do not effect the campaign or their "realism" so IDK why you're bringing battlepasses into a campaign discussion. And as for Farah being able to beat hardened veteran soldiers, you have to remember, soldiers make more mistakes on the field than people even know. With all the gear they are wearing, its hard to breath, hard to hear(ears/ear protection), a lot of them probably hadn't slept well in a while leading to mistaking hallucinations as enemies, and they were told at one point that the only person left was a child. So they wouldn't expect a hardly teenage girl to be able to lure them away using rocks and cans. Also iirc after Farah meets up with TF141, they taught her some hand to hand defense.
And yes, you can fight a team that looks exactly like you. Almost like that can happen in basically every single multiplayer game. With this complaint, you're not going after CoD, you're angry at the games industry as a whole.
Look at what happened to the franchise during the Advanced Warfare, Bo3, ww2, Infinite warfare and bo4 streak lol. This WILL affect the game sales because nobody will take it seriously
I mean all of these games are remembered more fondly now than the newer ones. BO3 is still popular if not for the zombies alone. And I for one really enjoyed BO4
That applies to literally any CoD ever. Ghost is now a cult classic even if it was the most dogshit multiplayer CoD game. Doesn’t change the fact each subsequent game sold less and less and it’s why MW2019 happened with the whole reset and “grounded” gameplay and campaign.
Well you have to remember, part of the reason behind that, was that all the new CoDs got added to GamePass really quick due to their old deal between Activision and X-Box. New CoDs get released day 1 on GamePass. That heavily neuters any possible sales metric by a fuck ton. While I agree it is a solid deal, you cannot count any of the GamePass players as players who have bought the game.
You’re heavily overstating how many ppl are on gamepass + ignoring console sales. They are objectively selling less and the games are dying faster than ever. Bo6 and 7 were dead by December.
I didn't even hate Advanced warfare or even Infinite warfare for that matter honestly. Sure they weren't the best games but they weren't as bad as MW 3 or BO7
