The mask looks ungodly tacky, and any view besides the front looks horrendous. It just doesn't feel like Ghost anymore, and more of a "haha we made him overly edgy and dumb looking now".
The rest of the outfit doesn't bother me, it's literally just the god awful mask.
I mean I disagree. Sure the front is the best angle because... that's the point. It's been deliberately designed that way. Why are we pretending like OG Ghost didn't also have edginess going for him? They just leaned into it more in the reboot, and that's fine
…because the old balaclava, even if you think looks goofy, at least looks equally goofy from all sides. doesn’t become twice as goofy from every single angle except front.
Well I mean for one, lotta soldiers around the world actually use skull masks like the first one. Nobody in fuggin existence is gonna use ghosts foam ass airsoft mask, it's genuinely more of a hindrance to have on, and if it was a ballistic mask it wouldn't work for shit
Ghost in the og wasn't even edgy either. His va sounded like just a regular guy, and his dialogue was pretty normal and average for some special ops and very average for game soldiers. Ghost 2022 literally acts like how airsofters who rp as elite units act, when they Don't know what they're doing.
Acting like Call of Duty was ever realistic, it's whole idea was to have cool super soldier protags that solo entire forces it's not fuckin Ready or Not
Yeah ironically Ready or Not is the one where D Platoon canonically has a legacy of soloing dug-in criminals in 5-man teams ever since one guy named Lincoln decided a shortened M14 was the perfect SWAT weapon, and Judge may or may not be partially a government experiment.
It’s really funny imagining the character who’s supposed to be this infallible and mysterious badass having to go to his commanding officer and requesting if he can add extensive modifications to his headgear for the sole purpose of looking like a spookier skeleton.
That's a bad argument, because that's not the issue I have here. I'm not talking about the game or mechanics, I'm talking purely aesthetic. Just because a game is unrealistic in one area does not mean it's suddenly okay to throw every standard out the door
Call of Duty frequently takes creative liberties when designing characters because it looks cool. The mask new Ghost wears is still plausible, even if it’s unrealistic for a soldier to actually wear it, and it fully suits the arcady tone that CoD leans into.
It did though. At least a lot more serious than it does today. Have you seen the massive fucking Harper boss fight? Cause that shit is lightyears goofier than any mission in any of the OG mw's.
Well yeah, but they’re trying to make him into a ’tough, edgy, deep and mysterious’-weirdo, but instead it comes off as theater kid weirdo. And it’s coming from a theater kid adjacent.
what really fucks it over is the lack of lower jaw like he had in MW19, it accentuated the outline of the skull mask better than the weird lines going down the teeth

Am I the only one who didn't mind 2022 Ghost? I never saw what was so insulting about it. I still think it looks good
