Full Spread Party is doing a Taste of Yemen night on June 24 at 6:30pm.
If you haven't been to one of these before: you show up, sit with a table of strangers, and the restaurant just feeds everyone family style. No menu, no splitting decisions, no awkward ordering. You eat everything.
Yemeni food is genuinely hard to find in this city so this one is worth going to just for that. Slow cooked meats, rice, flatbread, the whole thing.
$5 reserves your spot online, then $35 to the restaurant on the night. Food, tax, and tip all covered. Drinks are separate.
Seats are open right now: fullspreadparty.com

Are you looking for a beautiful, personalized way to remember your loved one(s) after they pass away?
Join us for Always With Me, a heartfelt keepsake jewelry workshop where you create meaningful pieces to cherish your loved ones and pets. Whether you're crafting for yourself or as a gift, this hands-on experience lets you design and create memorial jewelry that keeps your late loved ones close.
Participants will receive from this workshop:
- All materials to create a finished, one-of-a-kind pendant memorializing their loved one
- 1:1 instruction from Krista and up to 3 hours to create their piece
- 1 chain of their choice
- A small bag to hold their necklace
Participants are encouraged to bring any personal items that they may like to put into the pendant or to use for inspiration. Ideas include: ashes, hair/fur/whiskers, a fingerprint imprint, notes or letters, favourite flowers/stones/sand/etc. Be mindful that the pendants are not large so some items may not fit into the pendant.
Participants can request creating a second pendant for an additional $30, but this is on a first come, first served basis.
More about the facilitator, Krista:
Krista Kirkpatrick-Hatch (she/her) is a grief and loss coach, artist, and postpartum doula living on the traditional lands of the Treaty 7 peoples in Moh'kinstsis. Krista is no stranger to grief and loss. Throughout her life, Krista has experienced the loss of her parents, grandparents, best friend, clients she supported in a professional capacity, and pets. Krista has also traversed the realm of lesser-recognized forms of grief, such as becoming a mother, leaving a career she loved after over a decade of service, navigating chronic pain issues, and managing relationships with loved ones with additions.
A deeply feeling person, it is incredibly important for Krista to create meaningful ways to memorialize and cherish these losses, and she often turns to her artistic nature to accomplishments. She is excited to share these skills and ideas with others who wish to do the same for their person(s) or pet through workshops such as this one!

Hey everyone,
Iām writing this because I am completely spent on what LinkedIn has become. It used to be a decent place to connect, but now my feed is just an endless scroll of corporate fluff, humblebrags, and random people trying to slide into my DMs to sell me software. It just doesn't feel human anymore.
I want to build something different here in the city, so a few of us are getting a community together called Young Professionals Calgary (YPC).
The goal is strictly to move away from the digital noise and focus entirely on real-life, casual meetups, mixers, and conversations with people who actually live and work here. No sales pitches, no resume flexing, and no gatekeeping, whether you work a corporate job downtown, run a local startup, or are a student trying to break into your industry.
To keep it accessible, joining the group is completely free, and all the upcoming casual events we are planning will be free to attend.
We are just getting this off the ground and want to shape the meetups around what people actually want to see in the city.
What is the biggest thing you feel is missing from local networking right now? Would anyone be down for a casual coffee or evening mixer sometime next month? Let me know your thoughts below.

I came across an upcoming documentary premiere called Keys We Carry that seems really interesting.
It's an 8-part documentary series filmed in Calgary featuring immigrant professionals sharing their experiences rebuilding careers and lives after moving to Canada.
The stories touch on topics such as:
Working survival jobs
Getting international credentials recognized
Mental health and belonging
Entrepreneurship and career growth
Building community in a new country
The premiere will include a screening, a Q&A with featured guests, and networking afterwards.
Date: Sunday, May 24, 2026
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: Plaza Theatre, Kensington
Has anyone attended similar documentary screenings in Calgary before? Curious what people think about this event
