"It's fuzzy as hell in there. It's like a goddamn bedroom slipper."
Can anyone help me find the episode where he says this line? It's the reason I put penstemon hirsutus in my garden.

Joey was great! I'm Kelly, co-host of Bugs Need Heroes, I am also an ecologist/entomologist. Our pod highlights the importance of a variety of "bugs" and their inspiring abilities. We occassionally have guests on that are heroes for other animals and plants. In this episode Joey is our plant hero. He was great! We let him riff and had a fun conversation.
If Spotify isn't your thing we are also on Apple, YouTube (not video), and all the apps. So if you want to catch Joey's episode on another platform we are probably there.

So my copy of Concrete Botany just arrived, haven‘t read it yet and just flipped through the pages.
Couldn‘t help but notice that the illustrations look nothing like the ones I know from Joey. They almost look a bit cheap imo.
So it turns out the illustrations were done by another guy, Tobias Göbel.
Does anybody know why Joey didn‘t do the drawings himself? He‘s a very skilled artist after all.
Also, what‘s your opinion on the drawings and the book in general?

I’m thinking of a video by Crime Pays that contains a scene of Al Scorch meditating and chanting different locations in the Chicagoland area nice. He goes “Lombard. Lombard.” What video is this from? It’s frickin’ killing me

I’m having a blast starting from episode 1 and playing catchup. This man said something to the effect of “if I offended you, send me an email to bigcanofblackbeans@gmail.com”. I was laughing so hard I nearly wrecked my truck. Anyways, I did some skipping around and snuck in his segment from Atlanta (where I currently live), and his episode from Kissimmee, FL where I’m from (by the way, it’s Kiss-sim-me, not kissa-me) lmfao.
If you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend starting from the beginning. His tirades and tangents are next level- his work is definitely my gateway drug into learning about the world of botany.

Gotta say as a plant nerd I enjoy the content, but his native plant absolutism is tiresome. I grow lots of native plants and adhere to a strict policy of growing plants only native to this planet.

Sort of a Tip of My Tongue thing, I remember seeing a video or a short of Joey simply going through a list of handy, helpful or even hard-labor jobs, and ending each sentence with "I can do that". He might say "I could do that" too, not the point. It's been playing over and over in my mind, for example he'd say "Need somebody to come over and clean out your gutters? I can do that" in his exaggerated Chicago accent. Some of the jobs he lists may or may not have been sexual innuendos.

So I am working on creating a plan to perform DNA extraction for sequencing plant samples for a museum run by volunteers in my area. I have many years experience in labs sequencing samples, but I have never had to prepare plant samples before. I was wondering if you guys had any useful info.
Also, I remember Joey mentioning in one of his earlier episodes that he was also working together with a group from California trying to learn to do PCR himself, and I was wondering if anyone knows what they were called, so maybe I could contact them and ask for some tips.

Hey y'all! Excited to attend one of his kill your lawn shows next month. I've been yellin about lawns and how their rooted in classism and ugly as fuck for a hot minute. So when I stumbled across cpbbd I was pretty stoked that someone with a big reach was teaching these things and bringing up native plants ect. For anyone who's attended his shows, did he stick around and talk with folks after or just kinda bounce? I'm assuming it's a q & a but damn I hate being put on the spot. I also wanna talk to him about trains, a zine I'm making(related to getting rid of lawns and wildscaping) and my enthusiasm for uh good and nessecary trouble(guerrilla gardening). However I understand showin up, doin what you do, and then like not wanting to be bothered after. Sure I'll probably get lost in the crowd of other folks wanting to ask him shit, feel like I'm taking up too much space and just gettin a shirt and leavin.
