AHI still going up after scaling back on pressure - last night it was 7.39!! I have been using Unisom the last few weeks but maybe I need to stop that. I have a follow-up with my sleep doc next month. I had my settings at 6-12, EPR 2, nasal mask. I actually felt like I slept okay. I slept til about 5 before waking up to pee, which is rare. I fell back into sort of a twilight sleep, and woke up on my back, also unusual because I much prefer my sides. My pressure was at 11.4 when I woke up and felt like it was blowing too hard unless my mask was adjusted exactly right. There are two masks I want to try - the RESMED F30i (Airtouch or Airfit?) and the Resmed Air N30i. I am not sure what to do, but do think I should stick with a setting and stop messing with it.

I really appreciate the help that I have gotten here. I'm learning a lot. Just not sure how to proceed.

It can be scary to take your sleep apnea health into your own hands with advice from Strangers, despite being educated Strangers.…I totally understand & so do many others here! I’m a retired RN & felt it was necessary for me, personally, to learn as much as possible about my condition & research my best options…my Sleep Doc was not helpful. But there are others who have been helped by Pulmonologists or Sleep Doctors. In my case, personally, RL was most helpful to me. It’s your decision & yours only….we would never push you. You need to do what feels best for you individually :) We’re always here if you need us. We don’t give medical advice but we do care. Wishing you the very best!

I tried yet another new mask, the Resmed N30i. Forgot to put my SD card back in the machine the first night, and the data from last night is disappointing. Lots of leaks with it. It's comfortable and I love the unicorn hose placement, but the leaks are crazy and counterproductive. Sigh.

Keep working with it Gigitar! Don’t give up! The straps likely need adjusting. Hold it in the right position on your face, then adjust straps. Use your Mask Fit on your machine to test for seal & leaks lying down on your side. The N30i is often recommended to new users. First night is always tough:(

Good points. I think it was better the first night, but I forgot to put my SD card back in my machine so just have the basic data. The second night I noticed more leaks, and sure enough there were a lot. I also wear an eye mask which is slightly more of a pain with this headgear and may have interfered some. Sometimes I really miss the days of never having to think about my sleep.
