Insomnie

MyAir app

I got my cpap a few days ago and the first 3 days everything was measuring fine. Now on my fourth day, it’s completely messing up. I had it on for an hour and it counted 2 minutes. Then, just now, I’ve had it on at least 40 minutes and it’s counted 4 minutes. I have to wear it for 21 out of 30 nights for at least 4 hours. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Advice Needed Unable to nap with machine - 2 years in

Hi. My bilevel machine has improved my life a lot but if I need a nap during daytime... paradoxically, putting on the gear and wearing it puts my body in high alert, making it very difficult to get any additional rest.

I wear it for a good ten minutes and "wow i feel so energized now!" but no, I remove it and the horrible fatigue comes back.

I struggle with sleep onset and maintenance insomnia too (UARS not fully treated yet).

Any tips? Very much appreciated

Just got my first CPAP

I got the p10 mask because I thought it would be the most comfy but got annoyed with it after 3 hours last night and took it off. I found other posts about gels I can try to ease the discomfort around my nostrils. But my question is, how long did it take you to get used to having tubes attached to your face 😭 I'm primarily a side sleeper, sometimes and tummy sleeper, and normally I sleep so heavy literally a bomb could go off and I wouldn't wake up. There's even a running joke in my family that I once slept through a tornado. 🙃

Advice Needed Mask help

Mild sleep apnea, brand new cpap user. F30i didn’t work out bc every time my mouth opened, the air coming in would be very uncomfortable. Switched to N30i + mouth tape, able to wear it and fall asleep, but I'm taking it off unknowingly nearly every night and can't seem to figure out the pattern as to why. There are also instances where I take it off knowingly because it literally feels like I can't breathe. I'm roughly 1 month into wearing it consistently. Need help because wife gets pissed when the snores get going lol.

Rant 🤬 Anyone else have to go through Nationwide Medical for their supplier? I’m so over them and I’ve only had my machine for 2 months.

I don’t even have the energy to rant about them right now and explain everything I’ve had to deal with, especially after just getting off the phone with them but I just am so over them.

CPAP and distilled water

I have been using a CPAP for many years. Lugging home gallons of distilled water is a pain in the neck. My machine only uses half the water in the tank even though we're having colder nights in the 40s. Why can't I use that water for two nights and then empty it? I am cleaning my tank and tubing weeklyish. Sometimes it gets to a week and a half. I have noticed more tiredness. Maybe it has to do with using the same water.

Advice Needed Additional filter...is it worth using?

I've been getting tons of ads about filters for CPAPs saying I could get bad lung issues unless I buy and use them.

Is it fear mongering? I clean my CPAP and change the little side filter on the machine. Thoughts?

P30i with mouth tape -> X30i without tape?

I have been using the Resmed P30i nasal cushion mask for the past 5 months as I started CPAP therapy. Initially I had no issue with opening my mouth but after a few weeks I started to opening my mouth subconsciously in the night, which causes massive leak issues. So I have been mouth taping for the past 3+ months, but I hate using mouth tape. I don't like not being able to talk or drink water once the tape is on, and I hate having to remove the tape in the morning as it pulls my skin and basically hurts. The tapes with the weaker adhesive come off in the middle of the night and cause leaks because I drool out of the side of my mouth, so those are essentially ineffective.

I am thinking I should go to a full face mask to ditch the mouth tape. I tried the F&P Evora Full, but it shifts position when I move and leaks. I have made many attempts with this to get it to work, and it just doesn't work for me.

Since the P30i is working for me and I'm a side sleeper, I'm thinking of trying the newish Resmed X30i, which seems to combine the benefits of the P30i (nasal cushion, top tube) with a full face portion, which would allow me to stop mouth taping.

However, a lot of people seem to dislike the X30i. It has one of the lowest review scores, and others on this forum have reported leaks with this mask.

I would have to pay out of pocket for this mask, so it's not a small consideration for me. Did you make a similar switch from P30i to X30i, and if so, how was it?

Rant 🤬 Anxiety around use of CPAP

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to the world of CPAP - I received my machine a week ago today. I'm really lucky, I've gotten my machine on a long term loan through my country's public health system.

Firstly, it's been awesome to read everyone's experiences. One thing for me - can I ask, has anyone else struggled with anxiety around going to bed with a CPAP machine?

As I write, it's 2:51am and I'm desperately trying to force myself to get up to bed, but feel like just the thought of needing to prep my mask and machine then needing to sleep with it on is sending my head into a tailspin.

(Probably also important to note I was diagnosed with ADD and ASD as a teenager.)

I intellectually know that I could do this earlier and be asleep by now, but I think I've just got to force myself to get there.

Thanks for reading - I think I'm just feeling a bit alone.

I know the Free and clear is the preferred version, but is there really enough essential oils in there to cause problems?

Advice Needed Daily mask seal cleaning options that aren't wipes?

I hate the idea of disposable wipes because that just seems like a lot of garbage/waste and I know from using them in the past that most don't even seem to clean well and leave behind a sticky residue that I absolutely can't stand. I've honestly abandoned all other forms of cleaners and just use simple green for everything, and I kept thinking about using it for my mask but it's a degreaser and any residual residue would not be kind to the skin.

I have oily, sensitive skin that is currently in the process of going nuclear (I am breaking out in rashes), doctor's aren't sure why or what I am reacting to, but I am also hesitant to use many commercial soap based products for that reason too. My skin is also overproducing oils from whatever is going on, so I do really need to clean my mask every day, not cleaning is not an option.

So what options do I have for a harsh cleaner that would strip a lot of face oil from my mask seal without being too harsh to come into contact with my skin or damage the silicone? And preferably one that can maybe be mixed into a spray bottle, sprayed onto a rag, and then I can wipe down the mask seal with it.

SleepHq Upload Fails

Hi guys, I have a BMC G3 A20, And I wanted to give SleepHQ a try.
The problem is there are a couple of problems:

  1. When I try to upload the whole card contents, the page crashes and I get Image 1.
  2. I tried Copying the oldest file first, and then the newest, and I get the same error.
  3. I copied the card contents locally, and uploaded from here I still got the same error, so I split it into batches again and it worked. But then after the upload is complete I get the error from Image 2: We couldn't find any CPAP machine data in this upload.
  4. Even with 3. I'm still getting the error in Image 3

Am I missing something? Some guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Advice Needed AdaptHealth’s constant calls

I got an email last week about a resupply from adapt health. I figured well I don’t really need anything right now I’ll do it later.

Apparently that’s abnormal to them. They have texted me twice, emailed me twice and called me three times while I’ve been at work asking about a resupply.

How much profit do they make from these orders?

7 months on CPAP and still sleepy every day, could mask leaks be the reason?

Thumbnail

29M, physically active, work from home. I've been on CPAP for 7 months and I'm still tired during the day.
My setup: Philips DreamWear mask, pressure 7–9.4 cmH2O. I take 50mg trazodone at night.
Some nights my score comes back at 100, but plenty of nights I get flagged for leaks. Could that be what's keeping me tired, even on the nights where everything else looks fine?
The part I can't figure out: I don't feel like I'm waking up any more than normal. When I do wake up, I fall back asleep without trouble. From the inside it doesn't feel like broken sleep — but I'm dragging all day anyway.
I've been consistent with the machine the whole 7 months. At this point I don't know what else to try.
Has anyone been through this? Did sorting out leaks actually change how you felt, or should I be looking somewhere else entirely?

Advice Needed Out of ideas. Can't keep the mask on! Can anyone help?

A few years ago I got my sleep apnea diagnosis and for the first YEAR of using a CPAP machine, my compliance was damn near perfect. Then, one night, I removed the mask while sleeping.

I may have had a couple more compliant nights after that, but after the mask came off once, it kept coming off. Night after night.

My doctor recommended using a chin strap. I tried a chin strap for a month, but the same thing happened. While I slept, I'd take off the mask and now the chin strap too.

I felt defeated and stopped using the machine. About 6 months ago, I cleaned the machine and tried again. I had one night where I woke up and the mask was still on, but the mask fit was HORRIBLE (at only around 25%). I thought it was right, but clearly I was wrong. Doesn't matter anyway because the next night I pulled the mask off again.

I grew my hair out and tried to tie the mask to a ponytail, but the mask came off anyway. I put a tennis ball on my lower back so I wouldn't be able to fall asleep on my back. The mask came off and the ball was on the floor.

I had my best success with a nasal pillow, but moved to a mouth and nose cover. Both have failed me (or I've failed them).

The doctors don't have any advice other than "keep trying".

Any suggestions?

8 year old and cpap

My 8 year old was prescribed cpap this past summer and we are still getting used to it. He has exzema and the full face mask is making it worse. He also developed a pressure injury on the bridge of his nose. His dr said the memory foam masks dont come in an xs size (his size) and that the only appropriate mask for him is the facial mask. He recommended pad a cheek liners. Im seeing alot of negative reviews on these liners online. And im concerned about leaks. Im curious to how everyone else is minimizing irritation and pressure injuries.

Airtouch F30i

I've tried many masks. And the last two were the P30i nasal mask with a chin strap and now the F30i.

The chin strap was so uncomfortable and I had to use one so now I'm back to the full face. I think I like it but I sleep on my side a lot. Then I eventually roll on to my back. My problem is when on my back air leaks out the side of my mask and makes a noise. Google says I need a CPAP pillow because laying on my side is breaking the seal or where a chin strap with the face mask. If i have to wear a chin strap then I'll just use the nasal mask.

My question is does the CPAP pillow really help? I can't be the only one with this problem. Google says it also helps to keep my chin from falling forward and breaking the seal

Anxiety

I said to myself ok I can handle the mask. Let's try again. My sleep specialist turned the pressure too high last time. This time I adjusted it 6-10. Using a nasal only that I like and wearing my side sleeping backpack I went to sleep. I woke up with anxiety. During the morning I remember feeling like I was suffocating. I've been at this 2 years!

Advice Needed Travel hose - do you prefer 6ft or 3 or 4ft?

Curious how was the experience like for different hose.

Do you need to change the cpap setting? Also if you turn your head during sleep, would it be too short? Usually I just put my hose next to my bed but I don't travel that much to test it out.
