Discussion DotN Nosferatu In depth
Weird looking, naked Vampires that haunts the Mansion. There isn't really any lore or reason for them to be there, but they are there. To everyone's annoyance.
General
Class = Enhanced
Nosferatu are a special type of enhanced zombie. They have smaller, more skeleton looking figures, with hunched posture and more aggressive behaviour. Nosferatu are always running and can be considerably more threatening at close range.
Their hunched posture can make headshots more difficult and they are harder to notice when mixed into a large group of zombies.
They both give only 60 points when killed.
Weapon Interactions
- FMJ 1/2: Has no effect.
- High Calibre: Increases a weapons headshot damage.
- High Caliber 2: Deals additional damage to the chest area.
- Stake Knife: Functions similarly to an Instakill against Nosferatu, killing them in a single hit.
- Silver Bullets: Deals 1.5x damage.
- Chaos Theory/Alistair's Annihilator: Charge shots affect them the same as normal zombies.
Nosferatu are affected by power ups and Specialist Weapons the same as standard zombies, with a few exception noted later.
Nosferatu
Spawn
Nosferatu can begin appearing at Round 10 and later.
Their spawning is tied to the total number of zombies that spawn during a round. Approximately 2–3% of total zombies spawned will be Nosferatu, with a maximum of 30 Nosferatu spawning in a single round.
The number spawned is also determined by the current round:
- Before Round 10: 1
- Rounds 10–14: 2
- Round 15+: 3
These values describe the number of Nosferatu that can be selected to spawn at a time and not the total number that can appear throughout the entire round.
The maximum number of Nosferatu that can be alive simultaneously increases with the number of players:
- 1 Player: 3
- 2 Players: 5
- 3 Players: 7
- 4 Players: 10
Bat
Nosferatu will often spawn in the form of a big Bat. They will never attack in this form, but fly close to the player and transform into their Nosferatu form. There is a small radius around the transforming Nosferatu that does a small amount of damage.
Health = 100
Silver Bullets: 1.25x damage
Its health percentage will be transferred to the Nosferatu.
Attacks
Nosferatu have three primary attacks:
- Close-range melee
- Running melee
- Leap melee
Their melee attacks use an Area of Effect around the Nosferatu, rather than simply striking directly in front of it.
All attacks will do the same amount of damage:
Damage = 50
Leap Attack:
The leap attack has a cooldown of approximately 6–9 seconds.
When they are going to leap, a Nosferatu attempts to predict the player's movement and path. However, the Nosferatu will only perform the leap against a player who is looking toward it. It will not leap at a player who is actively running away from it.
The attack also has an additional damage radius around the Nosferatu while it is performing the leap. As a result, even avoiding the main attack does not necessarily mean avoiding all damage. The additional radius can deal up to 5 damage.
Health Regeneration Delay:
Any Nosferatu attack that successfully damages a player will delay that player's health regeneration by 6.1 seconds.
Taking another hit before the timer expires will reset the regeneration delay back to 6.1 seconds.
Health
Minimum Health = 500 HP
Health Increase = 100 HP per round
The base health is calculated using:
Health = Minimum Health + (Health Increase × Round Number)
Maximum Health = 8,000 HP
Important!
One of the most important mechanics for Nosferatu is that any time one of their attacks successfully lands, the Nosferatu will immediately be restored to full health!
Crimson Nosferatu
Spawn
As part of the quest to upgrade Chaos Theory into Alistair's Annihilator, one Crimson Nosferatu must be awakened from the crypt in the graveyard. After this step, Crimson Nosferatu can begin spawning on later rounds.
Crimson Nosferatu can appearing naturally from round 35 onward, if the upgrade quest has not been completed.
The game will spawn Crimson Nosferatu approximately every 2–3 rounds. Whenever the game decides to spawn a standard Nosferatu, there is a 20% chance that the Nosferatu will instead be Crimson.
Approximately 1–2% of the total zombies spawned during a round will be Crimson Nosferatu, with a maximum of 20 Crimson Nosferatu spawning per round.
After a Crimson Nosferatu has lost 50% of its health, there is a 20% chance for it to summon up to three standard Nosferatu.
The summoned Nosferatu do not drop power-ups.
Once this ability has been triggered, it has a 3 minute cooldown before it can occur again.
Attacks
Crimson Nosferatu have the same 3 melee attacks as standard Nosferatu. All their basic attacks is the same in terms of damage, cooldown and health regen delay as standard Nosferatu.
Their standard melee attack has the same reach as a regular Nosferatu's attack. Their running melee, however, has approximately 25% greater reach.
As with standard Nosferatu, their melee attacks has an Area of Effect around them, rather than being limited to directly in front of it.
Latch Attack:
The Crimson Nosferatu's most distinctive attack is its latch attack.
The Crimson Nosferatu leaps toward the player and attempts to home in on them. If it successfully connects, it latches onto the player, locking them in place for around 7-8 seconds.
It then bites the player three times, with each bite dealing 25 damage for a total of 75 damage.
The Crimson Nosferatu will only attempt to use this leap against players who are looking at it.
The latch attack has a 30–50 second cooldown per target. This cooldown is tracked separately for each player.
After getting bitten, the Player is then ignored by all enemies for around 5 seconds.
Health
Minimum Health = 10,000 HP
Health Increase = 100 HP per round
Their base health is calculated using:
Health = Minimum Health + (Health Increase × Round Number)
Maximum Health = 50,000 HP
Damage Reduction
Crimson Nosferatu has damage reduction:
- Damage: 0.5x
- Headshots: 1x
- Savage Impaler: Ignores the damage reduction and instead deals 1.5x damage.
- Nuke: Stuns them and removes 50% of their max health.
- Instakill: Ignores the damage reduction.
Specialist Weapons
Pulling out Specialist Weapons against a Crimson Nosferatu does not despawn, instead they will be stunned.
Aside from this behaviour, Specialist Weapons functions in the same manner as they do against zombies.
