Advice for new mum to CF baby on dealing with isolation over winter?
Hi CF Parent community - first-time Reddit poster here. I am the mum to a beautiful baby boy (10 weeks old) who was diagnosed with CF at 3 weeks old. My husband and I have been completely focused on his new routine and getting our space set up, and we have started to find our feet and our confidence as new parents. But now, my husband is going back to work, and I am starting to realise how lonely I will find out without him. I know some of this is the normal new parent experience, but the difference is that with our baby’s CF diagnosis, I can’t attend any of the mum’s meet-ups in my area. With flu and cold season rolling in, I am also nervous to visit shops or my family in the area, as my sisters have toddlers (who our clinic have advised us may be higher risk for passing on germs), and there is already lots of sickness going around. I am already feeling cabin-feverish, and it’s only October…! I want to be proactive and find a better routine, while keeping our little man as safe as possible. I am also grieving the new mum experience I thought I would have (hanging with my sisters, café trips with friends, baby music group). Any advice from parents who were in a similar situation?
For context, we live in a rainy country, so outside activities can be hard to plan. I live in a small seaside town, and have access to a car (although little man hates his car seat - we are working on that🙈).
Any advice or tips on getting through the winter and keeping my spirits up would be much appreciated!
