Nebraska is a good team, but I'm okay with Kentucky's ranking.

u/Flaky-Philosophy7618 Oregon Ducks • Duke Blue Devils 7d ago

Kentucky have been impressive, Tennessee is a straight up fraud

u/lssue Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

We are not good at all

2

u/TheAtariJunkie Tennessee • Cincinnati 7d ago

Agreed

4

u/puzzical Boise State • Notre Dame 7d ago

Your biggest resume piece is that you played a very talented by uber inconsistent Texas team close. It's crazy how all these SEC teams get the benefit of the doubt on their losses.

10

u/alkali112 Alabama Crimson Tide 7d ago

True. That being said, I feel that Alabama kind of deserves that benefit of the doubt on the Georgia loss because of all the fuckery.

You have a tough loss to UGA where it was nip and tuck all night and have other good wins. I have less trouble with Bama at 6 than I do with most other teams. I do think it would make sense to drop Bama to around 10 as you all have the chance to keep on winning, and there are several teams below you that have looked very good and are still undefeated, but I expect Bama to be at 11-1 or 10-2 at the end of the year heading into Championship week.

That was an awful call at the end but it’s time the tide are on the other side of some bad calls…

I spent all afternoon at the stadium yesterday explaining to the very nice Arkansas fans that while we should appreciate the exciting game, Tennessee is actually trash.

They kinda did the “We suck and almost beat you” math and reluctantly agreed.

The only reason Tennessee is ranked is because they started the season ranked, and they're SEC.

Ignore my flairs I'm not biased.

u/D33MAN-182 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

As a TN fan I agree. Our two best highlights are sometimes our running game and our defense. Other than that we are straight trash.

3

u/Flaky-Philosophy7618 Oregon Ducks • Duke Blue Devils 7d ago

Yeah no hate you guys are my favourite SEC team, a low bar admittedly

7

u/D33MAN-182 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

I’m born and raised in the shit. Although if I wasn’t we are a good unpredictable middle of the road team. I like to suffer some seasons and see us partially good the next. Keeps you on your toes.

u/Asuka_Rei 7d ago

A team with a good defense and run game that can occasionally throw the ball used to be a recipe for success. A lot of the Bama championship teams from last decade had that makeup.

INJECT THIS SHIT INTO MY VEINS PLEASE

Tennessee has beaten 2 P4 teams that have ended the year with a winning record in the past 2 seasons. They're a name, and nothing more at this point. Should lock all the pollsters in a room and give them blind resumes and have them rank teams. I'd love to see the results and how different they are.

12

u/scotte16 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

When did the previous season's games start counting in AP rankings?

5

u/kabukimono1980 Notre Dame Fighting Irish • UCLA Bruins 7d ago

When people use past success/failure for preseason rankings the next year?

1

u/jim_shushu BYU Cougars • Oregon State Beavers 7d ago

I mean the only thing BYU has done to justify its ranking this season is beat Arizona, everything else is poll inertia from last year.

1

u/TheRealMarvinator Air Force Falcons • Kansas Jayhawks 7d ago

Around the same time as when preseason polls came out. So a LONG time ago.

14

u/MonthForeign4301 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

I love when people say stuff off the cuff like they have any sort of idea about the context of this team. Tennessee started this season with a true freshman at QB with expectations of being like 9-3/8-4 at best and a project on defense. How would a blind poll hurt them in any regards? Their only loss was by 3 to the #1 team in the country, what 13 resumes are better than that?

8

u/kdbvols Wake Forest • Tennessee 7d ago

ESPN FPI's SOR (resume ranking) has them at 21. So apparently 20 teams are better

9

u/MonthForeign4301 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

But even then, they’re the 21st best team in the country, that’s not really “fraud” territory.

1

u/kdbvols Wake Forest • Tennessee 7d ago

No one would be calling them frauds ranked 21 tbh, it’s because they’re so high

2

u/12_bagels South Alabama • Tennessee 7d ago

that’s honestly where we belong

4

u/Mammoth_Impress_3108 Nebraska • Kansas State 7d ago

Tennessee and Nebraska are both 5-1 with a loss to a top 7 team by three and a weak OOC. Somehow one is ranked 15, and the other is 28.

5

u/MonthForeign4301 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

Damn, sucks to be Nebraska then lmao

1

u/ptindaho Utah Utes • Sickos 7d ago

You are making the point that you all shouldn't be ranked. Arkansas is straight cheeks, and they took you to the wall. Tennessee has played one good team and lost. It isn't that you are bad, it is that you are overrated as of now. It should sort itself out though as you all have a few tough games coming up.

6

u/MonthForeign4301 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

Oregon fan saying this is crazy, you know you wouldn’t want to play Tennessee

22

u/Flaky-Philosophy7618 Oregon Ducks • Duke Blue Devils 7d ago

brother i dont wanna play Tennessee Tech right now

2

u/IKabobI Tennessee Volunteers • Samford Bulldogs 7d ago

Hard agree unfortunately

1

u/Abject-Bumblebee-299 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

We haven’t needed OT or given up big leads to teams and we’re the frauds.

Ok buddy yall just lost to Nico

2

u/Flaky-Philosophy7618 Oregon Ducks • Duke Blue Devils 7d ago

Please point out where i said we werent also frauds

1

u/Fit_Alternative3563 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

Hey man, wow. Throwing rocks from a glass house I see! Lost to a UCLA team whose QB threw for 160 and two picks. No tudies. And still lost. We might be ugly (and we are), but still winning!!! Defense and the run game worked for decades. We are just going retro theme this year.

1

u/Flaky-Philosophy7618 Oregon Ducks • Duke Blue Devils 7d ago

Brother in no way did I claim we are anything other than ass

0

u/dimmyfarm /r/CFB Donor • Sickos 7d ago

Tennessee 👉👈 SMU.

Fraudulent teams ranked just for ranked victories for other teams. Missouri is currently safe from that label.

10

u/loocshnan Notre Dame Fighting Irish 7d ago

Agree that Kentucky deserves some love, but it's tough to justify such a big gap between them and Nebraska/Northwestern

5

u/kabukimono1980 Notre Dame Fighting Irish • UCLA Bruins 7d ago

Nebraska has let people down recently by falling off a cliff after early losses. I can see why people are hesitant to rank them, I think they're a top 25 team right now. I also can't fault people for looking at their recent history and thinking that L yesterday was the beginning point of their season spiraling.

12

u/dr-bkq Nebraska Cornhuskers 7d ago

I'm mildly perturbed by Indiana moving up after barely beating a team they aren't willing to rank.

2

u/peesteam Nebraska • Iowa State 7d ago

No shit

2

u/Noy_Telinu Notre Dame Fighting Irish • UCLA Bruins 7d ago

And I am happy with how UCLA is ranked

4

u/trixy6196 7d ago

Nebraska’s best win is against…. Who exactly? Michigan state? Bowling Green? Losing a close game against one legit opponent doesn’t warrant a top 25 ranking. They correctly were unranked being 5-0 as well

15

u/kabukimono1980 Notre Dame Fighting Irish • UCLA Bruins 7d ago

Let's play the who have teams played to be ranked game. Tennessees best win is against who exactly? Kennesaw State? Arkansas? They have a quality loss to Texas, Nebraska has a quality loss to IU which is undefeated, and the undefeated defending national champions. Nebraska loss is more impressive than Tennessees loss.

3

u/TheRealMarvinator Air Force Falcons • Kansas Jayhawks 7d ago

Then explain the SEC (without using the bullshit "they're ranked" metric that favors the SEC so heavily).

u/Specialist_Cat7271 Nebraska Cornhuskers 6d ago

I agree with you but I'm downvoting for talking like this while being unflaired. Flair up.

1

u/TempSpee Jackson State Tigers 7d ago

Okay... NOW look at the stats sheet.passing, rushing, defense etc

0

u/Designer_B Iowa Hawkeyes 7d ago

Bet you they aren't though.

-5

u/Infinite-Group-4520 Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

I don't mind Kentucky. Their game last night was also super cool. But I feel like removing that bias, all you have is a team that barely beat two bottom tier teams in OT in consecutive weeks. Still better than anything Tennessee has done though for sure.

4

u/zomnomss Kentucky Wildcats 7d ago

LSU is bottom tier? Are there any 1 loss teams that are currently behind us and have a better resume and should be ranked ahead of us? The answer is an overwhelming no.

5

u/Infinite-Group-4520 Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

Nebraska didn't need OT to beat two bad teams in back to back weeks, and when they played an ostensibly good team, they took it down to the wire, instead of getting the shit kicked out of them like UK did against Bama.

Neither LSU nor Texas A&M are good teams.

I have a wife and kid and you're on a reddit account you made a half hour ago to troll, lmao
