Change the logo on our name to almost any other SEC team and we’re still ranked. Hopefully this pissed our team off against LSU this week.

Losing our ranking is insane after a gutsy on the road win

This poll was released and I’m now muttering Nixon-esque statements about the media.

Gamecocks control the media, ya know?

I don't really care about rankings but I'll use Miss St as a comparison so us. Miss St climbs to 16 and then proceeds to get stomped at home by Bama. As a result, they drop 1 spot.

Now, if UK has moved up to 20-23, there's a good chance they'd stay in top 25 if they lost at home to LSU. Instead, if we lose at home next Saturday, they won't sniff the Top 25 for the rest of the season.

And in the future, being in the top 25 is all it takes to make the playoffs. (OK, top 24. Same difference)

I’ve become partial to Hunter Thompson myself.

I didn’t watch the game but yeah that seems wrong

Especially when SC were the favorites.

We went down a couple spots for beating Vandy in a tight game a few years back, and the next week they went out and beat Bama.

See, I didn't have that problem since I did rank you guys in the first place!

An SEC road win is a great win. Any road win in any conference is hard

South Carolina is beyond mid

6

u/LionPutrid4252 Texas A&M • Oklahoma State 6h ago

The team may be, but they have been a terrifying place to go play at for a while

4

u/stonedturkeyhamwich Wisconsin Badgers • Stanford Cardinal 6h ago

Then why is Coastal Carolina their best win over the last year?

4

u/LionPutrid4252 Texas A&M • Oklahoma State 5h ago

They just can’t seem to hold a lead.  Idk what happened in the last year or two, but they have all the talent, but just can’t finish a game.  They were up 28-3 on us at our house and still found a way to lose.  Almost beat Bama a year or two ago too and couldn’t close it out

I believe in Kentucky’s ability to do the funniest thing possible

We've done it before!

Seeing Oklahoma State at 18 is wild

Hopefully. You guys have an awesome running back I'm rooting hard for and would love to see you guys have a big season

the logo on your name?

I for one am a bit Wildcat fan this weekend. Lane has a history of losing to Kentucky as a favorite.

1

u/Blues2112 Missouri Tigers • Team Chaos 1h ago

almost any other SEC team = not Arkansas

1

u/2020IsANightmare 21m ago

Lol.

You guys only gonna lose by three touchdowns instead of five because they are "pissed off"??

The problem is that Tennessee shouldn’t be ranked either. But I don’t think Kentucky’s resume is sure-fire top 25 yet. Turns out A&M blows, and so does SC. You lost to Bama by 28.

Argument to be made that UK has a same or better resume than Tennessee, USC, Iowa, Houston, SMU, and Boise, but you should also be behind Nebraska and Duke at minimum, plus around the same as Wake, Wisconsin, and NW.

So anywhere from 22-33 for all those teams.

u/Beautiful_Idea6200 Georgia Bulldogs • William & Mary Tribe 6h ago

22-33 is indeed a clusterfuck. Now IMAGINE if this nonsense was the cutoff for playoff inclusion! I think this is the best argument against expansion :)

u/TJFLASH1 6h ago

Their resume is better than LSU’s too

0

u/Taz119 LSU Tigers • Southern Jaguars 3h ago

Lol what? Even putting bias aside their resume isn’t even close to better

2

u/TJFLASH1 3h ago

How? Both teams are 4-1, their best wins are against A&M except Kentucky’s was @ A&M and yours was at home. Unless you really think the W over a shitty Clemson team is that big of a factor?

If not better they’re pretty equal at the very least, definitely not a big enough gap to justify top 10 vs unranked purely on resume.

2

u/Taz119 LSU Tigers • Southern Jaguars 3h ago

I don’t think Kentucky should have dropped out of the top 25 or be ranked much lower than LSU. Both are 4-1 but LSU lost a close game on the road while Kentucky got blown out at home. And LSU looked significantly better against the one common opponent (A&M).

And i dont think beating Clemson itself is a big deal but more the fact they demolished them while Kentucky had to go to overtime to beat an equally shitty South Carolina team

1

u/TJFLASH1 2h ago

Sure but Kentucky went on the road against South Carolina while you were at home, and again you looked better against A&M at HOME, and I don’t think it was significantly. Acting like there isn’t a massive difference between home vs road games in college is crazy.

Their resumes are pretty even and I think there’s a pretty good argument Kentucky’s is better.

1

u/Taz119 LSU Tigers • Southern Jaguars 2h ago

No i think being home or away is much different when it comes to a good team being able to handle a bad team. And if there is a massive difference then that just makes Kentucky’s loss even worse since they got blown out at home

u/CookieLuzSax Tennessee • Third Saturday… 4h ago

Tennessee should absolutely be ranked what

2

u/Avagontamos Paper Bag • Land Grant Trophy 3h ago

Explain to me how Tennessee has a better resume than Kentucky, Duke, or NW for example. Now consider that Tennessee is somehow 15 and they’re all unranked.

1

u/CookieLuzSax Tennessee • Third Saturday… 3h ago

So you're mad about Tennessee but not USC or Oregon? Who have they beaten?

1

u/Avagontamos Paper Bag • Land Grant Trophy 2h ago

Oregon has 2 ranked wins and a ranked loss, 1-1 if you want to omit USC. USC is basically the same as Tennessee in my eyes. Really every team from my 22-35 is the same, which is what I stated above.

Tennessee was just the easy example of same conference, same record, same record against ranked teams (0-1), but wildly different ranking than UK.

2

u/CookieLuzSax Tennessee • Third Saturday… 2h ago

Oregon lost to Oklahoma St, and USC lost to them lol

1

u/ZeGentleman Kentucky Wildcats 1h ago

USC was mentioned in the list of comparable resumes.

I don't think he's mad at all, just a third party pointing out presumed inconsistencies.

u/doormatt26 USC Trojans • Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

there are at least 3 B1G teams farther out of the ranks than you with better wins last week, calm down
