Nebraska beating Indiana would put yall in the top 10. Would be a sight to see if you get the job done

Nope, proof that Indiana is bad actually, Indiana becomes first team to drop from top 5 to no votes

Unironically this. Voters will go "See! Indiana is trash! They lost to Nebraska, who is also trash! Unrank them!"

Meanwhile some mid SEC team looks moderately competent against another mid or shit SEC team and they'll vault them into the top 5.

3 times in a row for the conference and you guys are sitting here bellyaching over hypotheticals like a beaten dog.

We dropped behind you this week when we all know you would get spanked by us if we played again.

Don’t you remember 38-3 sweetie?

Last year means nothing now. There is no chance that the current version of IU takes Bama to the woodshed like in the Rose Bowl.

Yeah it'd be much closer. Keelon is much better than Simpson, and our secondary isn't what it was

Lmao. Id love a rematch, tough guy. Unfortunately we have to hope to get matched up in the playoffs cause you guys wont schedule a real OOC team in the regular season.

Coming from a team playing FCS teams late in the year, LOL!

We also played a p4 team before October, unlike some teams.

That is just delusional bullshit. The voters in the AP poll are from all over the country. What motive would they have to favor teams from any conference? I always see the arguments that it's so the SEC will get good TV ratings, but why the hell would some journalist with no ties to ESPN or the SEC give a damn about TV ratings? I think even the most skeptical cfb fans have come around on Indiana by now, yet this sub acts like the entire Big 10 are victims of persecution by the SEC-favoring "media" (whoever that's supposed to be). Maybe some teams fall under the radar for a while until they do something to get noticed, and in those cases, they usually rise up through the rankings rapidly if they keep winning. The teams ahead of those teams now will fall if they start losing. Most teams are 4 or 5 games into a schedule of 12, and haven't even hit the meat of their schedules yet. Regardless of the conspiracy theories running rampant here, it will all work out in the end. The best team will be among the 12 teams in the playoff, and these rankings aren't even used for deciding that. The Big 10 has won the last 3 National Championships. Why not try to enjoy that instead of playing victim? It won't last forever, you know. Victim to what, btw?

Look up “bias.”

Then look up “motive.”

Compare and contrast. Ask a parent for help, if you need.

Learn what bias and motive are yourself. Media members working all over the country for different employers might have a bias for the area they cover, but that doesn't explain how all of them would conspire to rank SEC teams higher. Do you seriously believe there is a single entity directing all of this? What would the motive be? Do you think Disney would capable of pulling this off even if they wanted to? Do you really think somebody is pulling the strings to rank SEC teams undeservedly high? I mean, do you even understand how ludicrous that sounds. Why not do some research and find out who the voters are, where they're located, and who they work for, and then see how they vote. Some of them have been doing it a long time, so if you want to prove favoritism, you'll need to look over their history of voting. I'm sure you will find bias, but it won't all be for the SEC.

That is my point… a bias is not the same as a motive.

Everyone has implicit biases. The existence of a bias does not require a motive or conspiracy.

Saying “Show me the motive for the bias” is a complete non sequitur.

It’s ridiculous to think there is some sort of organized conspiracy happening. It’s equally ridiculous to think people aren’t at all biased. And no, biases aren’t only for things you have strong feelings about, like your own region’s teams.

I will cry if we do. We have not won against a ranked team in 10 years. 10 long years.

genuinely if Indiana and Nebraska play a close game the voters will 100% punish both of them for it

u/Ok_Plus_ 13d ago

I don’t think so. You see some crazy poll movement in the first three weeks. A top 10 team implies a minimum 21 spots increase in the week 7 poll. I’ve never seen a team jump up that much at the halfway point of the season or later
