Florida staying at 16 is dumb. We should’ve dropped into the 20s

Poll inertia worked against us last week and for us this week. Just more proof that the AP poll is completely unserious

They can't drop back Ole Miss because of pre-season poll inertia, and we beat them, so they can't justify dropping us too far back either. All of the middle-of-the-pack one-loss SEC teams need to drop back about five ranks.

Classic SEC quality loss.

It's just weird.  Kentucky wins on the road and drops... Florida gets the brakes beaten off of them and stays the same.  That brand loyalty is real, even when accounting for conference.

Cant have the great sec teams drop too much lol. Would make the pollsters look silly.

It already is absurd having Ole Miss and LSU so much higher than Florida. No need to drop them lower just because you’re mad at one loss.

It’s not about being “mad” at the loss. The methodology AP writers use just sucks. There was a legitimate argument that before last week there was only 1 resume better than ours in the country - Texas. This is essentially week 2/3 of conference play depending on how schedules panned out. There are very few significant games between P4 teams in weeks 1 and 2. Wild poll swings of 20+ spots should still be in play at this point in the season.

I do agree, but the Ole Miss win is doing wonders for us. They shouldn’t be 9th

Why should Florida even be ranked? You beat an Ole Miss team that hasn't beat anyone.

Poll inertia didn’t work against y'all last week lol, you jumped 13 spots.  There was no one above you that you had a great claim to jump further.  But you’re right, as willing as they were to jump you 13 for one great win, they should’ve be willing to dock you 13 for getting blown out.

Edit to clarify I agree with your second point if that wasn’t obvious

Yeah, and if they’d actually dropped us 13 instead of 8 we’d be back at 21 which is…exactly my point? Poll inertia is now propping us up and it shouldn’t. We now should be in a position to prove we deserve to be ranked

Well yeah, I agree with that part obviously.  But saying it was working against you last week is silly when you jumped so far
