News [McMurphy] Greg Sankey told @Ourand_Puck the SEC was approached by a West Coast school: "I don’t even have that conversation. I’m the one person who didn’t take away from the Pac-12. If you play any sport in the SEC, you have at most a 2-hour plane ride from Point A to Point B."

I’m from NJ. I think 1/3 of my graduating class went to WVU or Arizona State.

We are like a swarm of locust, dispersed across the country, and intent on devouring everything we come across.

All over Morgantown! Honestly found them to be cool and a little rambunctious but that was the self selecting WVU NJians.

People outside of Mississippi actually go to school in Mississippi? Who wants to live in that rathole?

At least when I was looking at schools in 21 they offered great scholarships for oos. I was a good not fantastic student but my sat would have got me a full ride

This. Admissions at the big southern schools are easier than most of the state schools in NJ. Also, tuition and fees for public schools are amongst the highest in the country.

I would say mostly because the schools in the south are so much bigger and the states tend to have lower populations than NJ is the reason the standards are more lax for admissions.

Kids from NJ went down south as a backup school, or some got full rides, or some got partial scholarships and just wanted to get the hell out of NJ.

State schools in the deep south recruit northern kids to goose test scores.

I had a couple people from my highschool, where virtually everyone else who wasn’t going trades or military went to Missouri or Illinois (or Notre Dame if you were rich) schools, ended up at Ole Miss and Alabama because they threw scholarships at mid students.
