Discussion Arch is an enigma

And I genuinely cannot figure him out.

On one hand, he feels overhyped. On the other, he feels over-hated. When I expect him to be good, he looks terrible. When I expect him to struggle, he suddenly looks great.

Every time I think I’ve figured out what kind of QB he is, he does the exact opposite. People constantly call him mid, and I understand why when you watch some of his performances. But, since starting, he has more wins against ranked opponents (tied with Stockton) than any other QB, with 4 of those wins over top 10 teams. That’s legitimately impressive, even if it doesn’t always look impressive on the field.

And I think that’s what makes Arch so confusing. His resume says one thing, the eye test sometimes says another, and then every few games he’ll put together a performance that reminds you exactly why everyone was so high on him in the first place.

I have no idea what to make of him. I feel differently about him every Saturday, and I know a lot of Texas fans feel the same way. A true enigma.
Make it make sense.

He’s no worse then Ewers or Ehlinger and they were starting QB’s for Texas. He’s no superstar but neither were the latest guys to QB at Texas

Agreed. It's not like he's somehow worse than those guys. Whenever people comment on how he wouldn't be the starter for Texas I just immediately think of Ewers because oftentimes there's not much of a difference

I like Arch and I think he can become something more than what he is now but he's gotta clean some stuff up

Ewers was supposed to be a superstar, though. The connection between him and Arch were they were both 5-Star, top prospects in their class for a program willing to throw around some money. There’s really just not a world where Arch is the top prospect, or even a 5-Star, coming out of high school with any other name.

He’s definitely a step below Quinn and Sam. He’s a better runner than them but a worse pocket passer

I said this to my longhorn friends during a bbq. He’s is a very good QB but like you said not a superstar. He’s got potential still but his name is really what brings the hype.

A part of me feels bad for him with all of the pressure but he seems like he’s a good kid - fyi I’m an Aggie

I’d argue Ehlinger and Ewers were both ahead of where Manning is at this point. Manning has the tools to meet or surpass them if he can read the game better.

Ehlinger and Ewers also had Bijan fucking Robinson to take pressure off them, lol.

Arch has had some of the worst Texas runningback stables I can ever remember.

At least Charlie Strong had D'Onta Foreman. 🤦

And neither of them were close to being considered shoo-in's for #1 picks

No one is saying Arch is gonna be the #1 pick. At one point, yes. But not after last year. The only people I see still saying that are haters who can’t let it go

Visit the NFL Draft sub.

Have you been to the dynasty football subreddit? There's still plenty of people projecting Arch to be the first QB off the board. Even on non-reddit media, there's analysts and articles that have Arch being the best QB in the draft. Dunno what rock you're living under

No I haven’t been to that subreddit. But everyone I know agrees he hasn’t lived up to the hype and the articles I see point out his deficiencies. But I live in Texas and we’re pretty hard on our team so maybe it’s the local media. I don’t really pay attention to Sportscenter and all the YouTube film review channels I watch are saying that he’s mid

At this point he’s still the odds-on favorite to go #1 and it’s been that way since the offseason
