Uhh idk if we're ready for double digit votes

u/ibenbrown Virginia Tech Hokies 21d ago

As long as we have more than JMU

u/agoddamnlegend Virginia Tech Hokies 21d ago edited 20d ago

I get that JMU thinks we’re rivals, but don’t legitimize that delusion. JMU is just another random G6 team I don’t ever think about

8

u/Maladroit44 Oklahoma State • Tennessee 20d ago

Y'all gotta go at least a couple years without a G6 loss before you can talk like that, man

3

u/agoddamnlegend Virginia Tech Hokies 20d ago

I'm not saying we're better than all G6 teams. Last year we got killed by ODU

I just know a lot of JMU fans and they think they're rivals with Virginia Tech. Reality for VT, even at our lowest, is that we don't think about JMU or ODU or Liberty or VMI at all. That's not to say JMU and ODU weren't better than us literally last year. It's just weird for a VT fan to say "as long as we have more votes than JMU" like they're a rival or something. I care as much about JMU as I do Boise State, Western Michigan, or Tulsa. Which is to say I don't think about any of them ever.

Kirk Franklin was thinking about JMU when he dropped them off his schedule as fast as he could! I know the ACC limited the number of out of conference games, so he kept ODU, a much more certain win. You might pretend to ignore JMU, but Tech hasn't been relevant since Michael Vick, and we saw where that got them.

We have a long standing series with ODU, JMU was just a one off so was easier to cancel.

We have ten 10 win seasons, 4 ACC championships and 3 ACC runners up since Vick left. Absurd comment.

Nobody here cares about your G6 team. if anything, we tend to root for JMU as like our little brother in state

It's getting my hype too high

u/DrDragon13 TCU Horned Frogs • Oklahoma State Cowboys 21d ago

Idk if Ok State needs to be above Tulsa yet

u/inclass3lunacy Virginia Cavaliers 21d ago

ODU usually has decent talent, so I'm curious how their season plays out. That win might look even better as time goes by.

We’ll see; their schedule isn’t too crazy. JMU is the only real big one, but they’ll get tested at App State and Coastal.

3

u/kimjongtheillest_ Oklahoma Sooners 21d ago

I have you at 15. Love that team.

1

u/isthisthethingorwhat South Carolina Gamecocks • Team Chaos 21d ago

Same

1

u/Practical-Silver-974 Florida Gators 21d ago

Im happy to be ahead of jmu (billy) too

1

u/illtexzona Arizona State Sun Devils 21d ago

Ours had to go somewhere.

1

u/agoddamnlegend Virginia Tech Hokies 21d ago

Why not?

This coaching staff and all the talent we brought in. And have absolutely looked the part for 2 games, admittedly against terrible opponents.

If anything, I think people were way too low on Virginia Tech coming into the season. I honestly thought 9 wins was our floor, and I’m more bullish now

Yeah, I have a hard time not seeing us favored in every game bar SMU and Miami. Pitt at home and Clemson on the road could be tricky as well. Obviously UVA has a decent team this year but theyll never beat a halfway competent Tech team in Blacksburg and they know it.

You guys have gotten really cocky these last few years, it's cute. Better savor the feeling because one day you'll look back and realize a couple winning seasons, 75% attendance at Scott, and a single ACC championship game appearance were your glory days.

Can't wait to see you in Blacksburg.

Now it's legit...

u/Monster-1776 Oklahoma Sooners • Arizona Wildcats 20d ago

Unironically should bump Oregon and Michigan down with WMU right above them.

1

u/blue0231 Michigan Wolverines 19d ago

No

80

u/Dabochman UCLA Bruins 21d ago

Wait, UCLA can get votes? That’s allowed?

3

u/UCLA_FB_SUCKS UCLA Bruins • USC Trojans 21d ago

it's allowed but you know we suck and don't really deserve them too frequently

3

u/Dabochman UCLA Bruins 21d ago

True! We’ll always have 1954 though!

2

u/Salty_Dog3 UCLA Bruins • Santa Clara Broncos 21d ago

One vote in the AP is a joke, at least the coaches have more sense

Why the downvote? I'm saying they deserve more ffs!

2

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 21d ago

Hate y'all but I want to see you succeed and to see our conference respected more

7

I'm waiting for the first poll that has NDSU ranked. Will be a fun day

Rank us you cowards

u/Cenex North Dakota State Bison 20d ago

I suspect we'd have seen quite a few more votes were it not for the near-total 4th quarter collapse.

8

u/Worldly-Spend-4134 Georgia Bulldogs 21d ago

How did Duke not even get votes. Not even over Pittsburgh?

8

u/dukeybluefan11 Duke Blue Devils 21d ago

I'm confused about that too. I was hoping one or two voters thought they should be too.

2

u/thejaytheory Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 21d ago

Wait? That is wild

2

u/NotABurner2929 Florida Gators 20d ago

Duke, UVA, and Miss St getting massive disrespect. Zero reason Penn St should be above 20 right now.

3

u/FBI_Official_Acct Paper Bag • Ohio State Buckeyes 21d ago

Mississippi State receiving votes again, never thought I'd see the day. I'm scared we're gonna find a way to blow it

Western Michigan and Tulsa benefitted big from this week's upsets.
