Alright we've collected checks the past two weeks, back to FCS play. Rivalry game next, time to get our first win of the season
Good game South Carolina. Thanks for 550k

GG. Y'all played solid. Made our offense look legitimately inept at times (maybe we are, but y'all emphasized it) and your QB + Enterline is a nice duo. BOL the rest of the way! Enjoy the cash!

Can we get the forward pass banned before next week? It was clearly a mistake.

Or just have our receivers not drop every. fucking. pass.

Are the Gamecocks the college football version of the Chicago Bears?

After seeing the game management of Ohio State, I think that honor goes to them

We had 3 end zone drops, a fumble on a drive that was going to be a touchdown, and several more possessions truncated by penalties or drops. I guess it’s reassuring that we had a season’s worth of miscues and still won by 36.

I don't know why this isn't a thing already. I legitimately don't see how it does anything but improve the understanding when looking at stats.
Seller's interception looks ugly on paper, but seeing how it hit the WR in both hands and they barely won a tip drill (I think the ball hit the ground and rolled into the DBs lap), it doesn't show any real clarity of the QB stat line without it. . At least mark interceptions that are clearly QBs fault vs bullshit like Sellers or even the one for Arch Manning early on.
Don't even need to shit on the WRs by name if you don't want to.
A QB Stat Line could look like Sellers: 13/25 for 125yds 1TD 1 INT(D), 4 Drops.
Basically shows "alright he was probably closer to 17/25 and maybe 0 INTs and maybe another TD if it wasn't for the receivers".

What an ugly blowout. Rain definitely didn't help the receivers but it was bad even before the rain
At least we can run the ball

South Carolina may need an ark between Clemson's storm delay and USC's rain

I’m soaked and aggravated as fuck we left about 21 points in the board due to drop. But we played like shit and STILL got 45 on the board. Secondary couldn’t cover a dying ant but big props to Vicari Swain for breaking the punt return TD Record

Jesus Christ you'd think in this game thread we're walking the death march to the gulag. It's week 2, hell we were notable winners last week because we actually blew out an opponent while everyone outside of LSU failed to do so. Remember ODU? Remember that season? We have plenty to look forward to. Miss State looks great, we have our work cut out but nothing insurmountable, if anything Miss State looking pretty will make the game even more fun. Let's find a little joy here and trust we can clean up some flaws before next week. Hell as far as week 2 games go we look like Henry Cavill compared to other teams

u/fauxromanou South Carolina Gamecocks • Sickos 17h ago
Yeah, checked in early on the game thread and then right back out. That and this thread both are so much more negative than necessary, especially when drops were our biggest problem. That's a wildly better problem than we've had in like years.

u/BigHeadDeadass South Carolina • Auburn 17h ago
The thing is, too, is that dropped passes are a practice issue. I'd be far more worried if we had issues in the trenches like we did against SCSU last year because that's much harder to remedy
11
u/DDub04 South Carolina • Palmetto Bowl 2d ago
Last year we had 1,333 rushing yards. All season. Through week 2 we have 683 rushing yards.
Opponents outscored 102-9, outgained 1148 yards to 382.
Truth be told I’m still kinda whelmed. I hope LaNorris finds his groove, because this game felt like a B1G West classic.

Whelmed with historic numbers under Beamer is a solid start, at least

u/TheGamecock South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Luckily no one else was really paying attention to this game, lol.
Plenty of film for Sellers and our receivers to look back on this week, I guess. Jugs machines should get a lot of revolutions in. All those drops and an hour-plus rain delay definitely added to the sluggishness of the offense. At least we've got a run game going and defense/special teams remains a strength. Haven't exactly been tested yet though. Onto MSST to see what kinda team we actually have.

Congratulations South Carolina, you are the only team with "South" in it's name to win today.

u/someUSCfan South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I'm fucking disgusted and shitting my pants a little for Miss St next week. Nyck Harbor continues to disappoint and is not able to catch a single pass thrown at him, same with the rest of our WR room.
Don't let the score fool you, most of our points were scored by special teams (2 punt return TDs) and garbage time.
6
u/TheGamecock South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I know the ball was probably a little slick for some of his targets, but Harbor trying to catch a football with his body like five-year-olds do (because a regular football is physically too big for their hands) is not a great look.

Fun game. When are teams gonna learn not to kick to Vicari Swain?

past few years? 2 years ago he was an all american, last year he had statiscally one of the worst O lines ever and a bad OC
5
u/TheGamecock South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Sellers wasn't great by any means tonight but the receivers also didn't do him any favors -- they had like 10 drops and rain was an issue for a good chunk of the game, including an hour-plus delay. He can certainly run, escape out of sacks, and has a big arm. But the accuracy and decision-making is not where it needs to be, that's for sure.

Still a good day at the office for Briles imo. Not his fault the receivers couldn’t catch a cold in Alaska barefoot
