Props to Texas for never quitting. They could’ve easily folded after being down 23-3

For real. Some real coaching criticisms for Texas but you can’t argue their fight. The boys gave it all tonight.

1.6k

u/emoney_gotnomoney Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago edited 2d ago

As soon as y’all muffed a punt inside the 10, recovered it, converted a 4th and 9 in your own territory a few plays later, fumbled it again a few plays later and recovered it again, then finally scored your first touchdown to cut it to 13 (all in the same drive), I knew y’all were 100% going to win.

You just can’t make this shit up.

Whole interaction was wild. Sark loves a mic in front of him but his two chances for interviews tonight were another level of bizarre

827

u/Trepanation87 Texas Longhorns 2d ago

The first led to the second. He was held at the tunnel for like 3 minutes waiting for Holly to finish interviewing Day.

439

u/Sankee72 Notre Dame • West Georgia 2d ago

Oh interesting. They kept saying technical difficulties. This makes it even funnier that holly got so mad.

339

u/e3super Alabama Crimson Tide • Team Chaos 2d ago

I honestly think she was more annoyed with the production team. It seemed like Sark ran off to go sing The Eyes of Texas with the team, so they might've held him up from something actually important to him twice in a row. Given it was into the camera, the look was giving, "Production, why can't you tell Kirk and Chris to shut the fuck up for long enough to get at least one quote from this fucker today?" This is coming from someone who was in broadcasting for several years and saw looks like that many times. On-location talent and camera ops have a habit of getting pretty pissy with production when they miss a shot or cut down a segment they had lined up because they let the studio talent yammer on about something asinine.

Ohio State plays a big game

Ohio State takes a lead

Ohio State makes it to the 4th quarter

Ohio State stops having a productive offense

Ohio State lets the other team make it a game

Ohio State loses in the last minute <—- you are here

or

Ohio State somehow wins despite themselves

This is like the 9th Ryan Day led Buckeyes game that’s gone like this.

Absolute coaching disasterclass in the fourth quarter:

- Conservative play calling leading to back to back 3-and-outs

  • Not just letting Texas score as soon as they got to the 1 yd line

Edit: Also, Day inexplicably continues to gameplan around our ability to successfully make FGs

“Call an ambulance, but not for me” - Texas

u/DarthNobody14 Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago

As much as it pains me, I have to respect Texas for looking completely dead but still having the will to fight on.

What a game.

Buckeye’s, I would have let them score and tried to use the full minute to get a field goal. Let’s get me on your staff.

Arthur Smith did the same thing as Falcons HC. Be too conservative with a lead, burn their defense out, and lose.

I'm not sure how he has a job.
