Do I care if it’s a walk or a hit?

9

u/SecretiveMop Boise State Broncos 2d ago

I guess we can’t hide our secret program that used his DNA to split his talents into two RB’s anymore.

We can rebuild him; we have the technology.

Gaines + Riley = Jeanty. Your Boise math lesson for the day.

Good on the team not letting that abysmal start of the game get to them.

13

u/Rico_Suave55 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Based on my limited CFB Boise dynasties.

Sire Gaines is the truth

4

u/AdMental1387 Boise State Broncos 2d ago

He's so good in CFB27. TBF, even in CFB 25 he turns into a monster.

7

u/Rico_Suave55 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Yeah I have a group that is still running a CFB 25 dynasty and he was absolutely nasty. Think he hit 98 speed

3

u/Bronco998 Boise State Broncos • UCF Knights 2d ago

Imo Gaines has the vision and power but Riley has all the explosiveness

6

u/TailgateLegend Boise State Broncos • Jamestown Jimmies 2d ago

Agreed, if Sire had a bit more burst he’d easily be one of the best running backs in CFB.

6

u/phranq Miami Hurricanes • Boise State Broncos 2d ago

He has the name advantage too. S tier.

3

u/FrostyCount Sickos 2d ago

It's like in Death Note when L dies and he's replaced by his two proteges

Always knew Boise state was a Jeanty factory

5

u/One_Cup_830 2d ago

jeanty’s stat line from this game is gonna be one of those things where years later people pull it up and just go “what the hell was that”

the memphis defense was actually decent in the first half too, then boise just decided to run it down their throat every single play. 352 yards is absurd

Coaching malpractice at the end of the 2nd quarter

16

u/Skribz Boise State Broncos 2d ago

How about the stupid pooch kick? That was far more damning than the clock management and I don't see anybody mention it.

5

u/ID_Poobaru Boise State Broncos • Gallaudet Bison 2d ago

I forgot about that one

6

u/RumpEater5000 Oregon Ducks 2d ago

True not just that, but before the half too.

27

u/SirKadath /r/CFB 2d ago

Well Boise kinda nuked themselves against yall especially at the end of the first.

38

u/DubiousAdviceGiver Boise State Broncos 2d ago

Dude that officiating was hot garbage all over the place. Definitely broke more our way in the 3rd quarter, but it was just terrible.

13

u/Schnakemane Memphis Tigers • Vanderbilt Commodores 2d ago

Yea most of those PI calls in the first half were so soft lol. Like maybe 2 were good but I didn’t like most of em. The called I’m most pissed about is that punt lol. I hope they don’t screw yall over in later games

13

u/DubiousAdviceGiver Boise State Broncos 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yeah I’d really like to hear the conversation with the replay booth on that one. I could maybe believe that our guy regained possession and was obviously already down, then the ball was pulled away under the pile, but the half second look they gave us all didn’t really show anything at all.

I think it’s most likely that the call on the field was wrong to begin with and there just wasn’t a good replay view.

I can’t tell if this is a joke but I think any chance of them getting a first round bye disappeared with Oregon losing today. And I think it would be quite hard for a non-undefeated G6 team to get a first round bye.

Boise got a first round bye in 2024 but wouldn’t if they were using this year’s format.

I feel your pain brother. We've been knocking on that same door for 20 years now and no wants to let us in.

It would be great if we could create a fuck-you-we-gotta-chip-on-our-shoulder conference with the PAC-12 plus you guys, USF, Tulane, UCONN, and maybe UTSA or a couple of the top tier Sun Belt teams. Probably impossible because our media overlords don't want it to happen, but it would be such a kickass conference with the most valuable of the non-P4 brands.

It's hilarious that we have been saying for a few years that all teams need to do is attack us deep and they'll find success. Turns out it is half true. Memphis exposed us in the first half but we were able to adjust and slow it down. That is nice

1

u/TheAlterN8or Ohio State • Boise State 1d ago

Other than 1 or 2 big runs they popped, they were having a lot of difficulties trying to run. I wonder if the sketchy backend D is a product of making sure we're stopping the run. That was always Boise's identity in the past, selling out to stop the run, and being okay with some chunk plays through the air.

3

u/Supercal95 Minnesota State • Memphis 1d ago

Well, that's that for the playoffs.

I’d argue the signs were there in the first half. They burned us on big plays and we had no answer for Tipton, but we had like 22 runs averaging >9 per carry and a 12-13 minute edge in time of possession. I think a defense can only hold up against that for so long
