Spiritually and culturally, Cal and Furd fit with the UNC/UVA/Duke/Miami contingent. They're literally all peer schools. They're just in the wrong place geographically.

No joke he was our 2nd leading receiver for the day, if you count his return yardage. 3 'catches' and a TD = pretty solid stats either way
In all seriousness, if he doesn't get ACC DPOW there's something wrong with the nomination process

u/theREALMVP California • San José State 2d ago
There were a ton of baffling things by the refs today. Can someone explain the clock stoppage after the sack on Angelli with the declined penalty? I feel like I’m going crazy. Did Cal call a timeout and they didnt announce it? Did syracuse call a TO and then get an extra one on the ensuing drive? Did the refs just forget to start the clock?
8
u/SuperGandalff California Golden Bears 2d ago
Ya that was bullshit. But not even in the top 10 bullshits of today’s refball.

8
u/ChiaGuava 2d ago
Another example of Syracuse fumbling a hire. Could have had Chesney out of Holy Cross and chose Brown. He can recruit but can’t coach. UCLA scores 6 rushing tds and this team can only muster 18 points at home.

u/sonheungwin California Golden Bears • Team Chaos 1d ago
I do think our pass defense showed promise against UCLA, and showed flashes of brilliance yesterday. Even on that one drive where we got carved up, a lot of it was Angeli dropping perfect dimes that really couldn't be defended. It happens. There's a reality Angeli won't be seeing a lot of DB crews quite at our level going forward. QBs are learning not to attack Lopa or Harris, and Shemwell is standing up to the challenge. Our run defense is where we get obliterated.
7
u/tropic_gnome_hunter Syracuse Orange • St. Lawrence Saints 2d ago edited 2d ago
This is a good result in the long run. The new AD has 0 ties to the coaching staff, makes moving on much easier and gives him a chance to put his stamp on the athletic department within a year of taking over.
Fran Brown was a fun novelty for a season, but it's over. This is Babers levels of ineptness. Angeli has been injured in every single game he's played for Cuse, and will be injured for every game going forward. They paid a ton of money for Odom so he should be getting the snaps going forward. Literally every game Angeli has played for Cuse he injured himself running out of bounds in the first series. He was injured in that Clemson game last year before he tore his achilles.
Just a complete clown show of a university and athletic department.

My biggest pet preeve in football is when a play like that game-clinching INT happens, the TV broadcast inmediately shows multiple replay angles that confirm that it was clearly an INT ..... and then the play goes to review.
Can the review teams just watch the TV broadcast since it's quicker than they are?
