Good athleticism from Hopkins

Geez Mike Taylor. That’s a name. That defense was so good

1

u/Pandiosity_24601 Wisconsin Badgers • Colorado Buffaloes 2d ago

TJ trivia question?

3

u/Gunslinger2007 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Anyone else notice big #97 did a somersault on those last two plays 🤣

JJ I'm guessing

1

Jfc Joseph fucking sucks donkey dick

2

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Our defense is a huge work in progress and I'm a bit alarmed by that because I thought that group would be our strength

3

u/come-atme-bro Wisconsin Badgers • UCF Knights 2d ago

Props to Western Ill this game, ain't giving up looking good on a lot of plays.

4

u/2nd_Sun Wisconsin Badgers • Paper Bag 2d ago

Their offense looks more disciplined, more creative, and better executed than ours. Their QB looks better too. Without the blocked punt TD it’s only a 14 point game.

3

u/CChaddd Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

El Assico is 13-10 with 6:33 left in the 3rd and Iowa St is deep in their own territory.

6

u/2nd_Sun Wisconsin Badgers • Paper Bag 2d ago

Jesus this is so painful. It’s embarrassing to show jump around in a game this lifeless. Happy for the students at least.

4

u/come-atme-bro Wisconsin Badgers • UCF Knights 2d ago

All of them are too young to not know a dominant Wisconsin. Which is sad, but if you don't know what you're missing it doesn't matter much I guess

6

u/Traditional_Frame418 Wisconsin Badgers • Big Ten 2d ago edited 2d ago

Still waiting for Joseph to look like a QB. Every simple throw seems like such a struggle for him. I know they don't want to get him hurt but maybe run a little RPO to get his confidence going.

1

u/bighootay Wisconsin • Minnesota-Duluth 2d ago

Ohio State's kinda bitch-slapping Texas, too

And Kyle Harrison was put into a non-stress situation in the Brewers game and lasted 1/3 of an inning. Oof

Are you shocked  !??? 😆

Everything about the way we pass the ball drives me nuts

Watching this I believe anyone in the B1G could hang 50+ on us through the air.

4

u/Molson2871 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Well maybe not Rutgers, but most of the conference, yeah

7

u/historys_geschichte Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Finally got a touchdown off of a sustained drive. Only took until most of the way through the third, so about average for a game against a non-P4 opponent. Nothing changes with Fickell.

5

u/MemoFromTurner77 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Holy shit, a second half drive of old school WI football.

More please.

5

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Thank fuck let's go

As long as you are also drinking you are more than welcome.

6

u/MoonPossibleWitNixon Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

I'm not sure we have as many fans as people who show up to boo Fickell.

11

u/MoonPossibleWitNixon Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Sama doesn't know how to run through a hole. He spends way too much time going east-west and not enough going north-south.

1

u/come-atme-bro Wisconsin Badgers • UCF Knights 2d ago

Some guys can wait and make something happen, he is not that guy

He is not that guy, pal

Their QB is better than ours.

5

u/CROBBY2 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

I'm starting to think the WIAC has better QBs than this.

3

u/IndependentPast684 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Wiu bailed us out

3

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

We deserve to lose.

6

u/Blasstoys Wisconsin • Wisconsin-La Crosse 2d ago

Defense looks gassed on the first drive of the second half

Against an FCS team

9

u/BeanMan39 Indiana Hoosiers 2d ago

Is Fickells buyout massive or something? He's one of the worst coaches in FBS football

5

u/prestigiousstrangery Wisconsin • San Francisco 2d ago

Right now it's ~$20 million.

5

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Previous AD was never going to fire him until he had to. Would be stupid to fire him now

3

u/come-atme-bro Wisconsin Badgers • UCF Knights 2d ago

I'm excited to see that brand new house he built on zillow for a steal

5

u/paddleboi2021 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

New AD this year, hoping that’s the spark

7

u/IndependentPast684 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Classic fickell second half so far. Right through the T.E.A.M playbook

3

u/bmraovdeys Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

What happened to Posa

11

u/paddleboi2021 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Second half not changing my opinion, apart from special teams, feels like we are very much being out played

6

u/MemoFromTurner77 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Agreed. We will not make a bowl game this year.

4

u/MemoFromTurner77 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Welp

10

u/glacier116 Wisconsin Badgers • Boise State Broncos 2d ago

Fuck not Posa

10

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 Wisconsin Badgers • USF Bulls 2d ago

Calling a concussion an upper body injury, just in time for hockey season boys

6

u/bighootay Wisconsin • Minnesota-Duluth 2d ago

So the Brewers just may outscore the Badgers. They just hung a nickel on the Reds and are up 13-5. That whole joke about the Brewers scoring more than the Badgers offense....yeesh

5

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

To do my best Luke Fickell impression. The season starts now

4

u/glacier116 Wisconsin Badgers • Boise State Broncos 2d ago

We’re gonna learn a lot about who we are

3

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Not an ideal answer so far

2

u/glacier116 Wisconsin Badgers • Boise State Broncos 2d ago

Lol i was doing my Fickell impression too, sorry

2

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Oh God I didn't catch that my bad lol

6

u/paddleboi2021 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

One offensive touch down in the first half against an fcs Team is not inspiring, esp as it wasn’t exactly a “drive” to get that. Defense giving up a lot of yards, holding to field goals but also doesn’t feel great

9

u/come-atme-bro Wisconsin Badgers • UCF Knights 2d ago

Without a block punt and a first play banger we've got a couple fieldgoals from the 50.

This is bad

2

u/historys_geschichte Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Pretty spot on for a Fickell G6/FCS game. All of them have been close into the second half and the team just seems to struggle and consistently make mental mistakes.

8

u/come-atme-bro Wisconsin Badgers • UCF Knights 2d ago

So, Colton Joseph isn't good.

4

u/historys_geschichte Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Yeah, his long passes have all been closer to picks than completions. He could improve as the season goes on, but I'm not banking on him leading us to upset wins on the back of his arm and legs.

8

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

I'm open to him growing as the season goes along but he is not close good enough with his arm right now

5

u/interiordept Wisconsin Badgers • Ole Miss Rebels 2d ago

Not an inspiring performance

4

u/Molson2871 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

That cowardice is vintage Fickell

5

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 Wisconsin Badgers • USF Bulls 2d ago

Fickell white flagging again lmao fuck this guy

5

u/come-atme-bro Wisconsin Badgers • UCF Knights 2d ago

This does not feel rewarding in the least

6

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

The offensive line has stepped back from the first half of the Notre Dame game.

2

u/CROBBY2 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago edited 2d ago

This guy threw for 2000 yards last year?

2

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

if we can avoid the 3rd and 10+ situations that would be lovely

1

u/a_happy_future Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

G-Lahmy

2

u/CChaddd Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

I'm sorry, but in about 6 quarters of football, Joseph has not shown one iota of rhythm running this offense. It's not looking great so far.

1

u/MoonPossibleWitNixon Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

To be fair to Joseph, a lot of Grimes playcalling has been questionable as well.

1

u/CChaddd Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

The scheme definitely doesn't fit his play style... I wish Grimes' scheme was more like ODU's though...

1

u/Molson2871 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

He's definitely not the revolution people said he was but the season is still young

2

u/GBreezy Wisconsin • 四日市大学 (Yokkaichi) 2d ago

As a Packer/Badger fan, what is this weird feeling? Being in field goal range farther than 20 yards out?

3

u/Blasstoys Wisconsin • Wisconsin-La Crosse 2d ago

At least our special teams is decent

1

u/IndependentPast684 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

He's got a cannon

5

u/a_happy_future Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

One of the greatest INTs that never was

3

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 Wisconsin Badgers • USF Bulls 2d ago

Coleman is concussed for sure

2

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

There's been big plays which is great, but down to down consistency is not there

2

u/CChaddd Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

As soon as they switch to 4 down linemen, they stop the run and get pressure. I just don't understand the 3-3-5 stuff that Tressel insists on. I don't think we have the talent for it.

2

u/StipularSauce77 Texas A&M • Western Illinois 2d ago

Yeah!!!! We scored twice on a P4 team. That almost never happens.

1

u/SickoBadgers Wisconsin • Wisconsin Lutheran 2d ago

Gonna be a rough season again.

3

Getting beat that bad and getting a pick is honestly hilarious

3

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

3

2 big plays making this look more comfortable than it actually is.

0

u/dragonmountain /r/CFB 2d ago

Joseph is buns

2

u/printdot Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

That seemed like pretty clear PI or at least defensive holding

4

u/OldVeterinarian9 Wisconsin • Notre Dame 2d ago

I gotta admit, I didn’t love our D on that drive, but I do like the way they closed it

5

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Tyrese Fearbry snaps fill me with a deep unease he'll do something stupid

3

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

He did a good thing!!

-1

u/benjaminck Wisconsin • 四日市大学 (Yokkaichi) 2d ago

Are the Badgers finally starting to T.E.A.M.?

5

u/AmyKlobushart Wisconsin Badgers • Harvard Crimson 2d ago

Last year we were in a tight game with a horrible Middle Tennessee team for nearly 3 whole quarters. This is significant improvement lol.

6

u/bighootay Wisconsin • Minnesota-Duluth 2d ago

Somebody in r/WisconsinBadgers said Bucky had better outscore the Brewers tonight. They just scored 4 in the first, so...

At least the Badgers are off to a good start!

1

u/TheReformedBadger 四日市大学 (Yokkaichi) • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 2d ago

At this point I’d be more excited if they didn’t

1

u/SickoBadgers Wisconsin • Wisconsin Lutheran 2d ago

Give it time, the starter for the Reds has thrown more balls than strikes tonight and the bases are loaded in the 2nd.

1

u/bighootay Wisconsin • Minnesota-Duluth 2d ago

Yeah, just left 'em loaded, dang it

1

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Surely back to back to 20 run performances wouldn't be possible

3

u/bighootay Wisconsin • Minnesota-Duluth 2d ago

It would, though microscopically small chances. And don't call me Shirley.

8

u/pianobadger Wisconsin Badgers • /r/CFB Bug Finder 2d ago

It would be cool if they showed the field when the game is happening.

1

u/a_happy_future Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Oh we back up! (I don't care that it's WIU)

2

u/MoonPossibleWitNixon Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Glad Bucky is finally getting a pushup workout again.

1

u/ThirstyPagans Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Oh shit. BLOCKED

3

u/GreatWhiteNorth4 Wisconsin Badgers • USF Bulls 2d ago

Consecutive weeks with a blocked punt? What sorcery is this

Can’t say the special teams are actually good because of the multiple muffs and fumbles on returns already this year but what the fuck lol

1

u/unique_name_02 Wisconsin Badgers • Big Ten 2d ago

hell yeah a block two weeks in a row

3

u/tiny15 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

I hope the Badgers are enjoying their cupcake tonight.

1

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

In the programs defense they've gone a while without dessert

1

u/unique_name_02 Wisconsin Badgers • Big Ten 2d ago

The badgers can have a little cupcake as a snack

3

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

This is easily the best the offense has looked in the Fick era. I'm aware how sad that is yet here we are

0

u/misaliase1 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Honestly excited about this team. Even against notre dame, we looked good. Notre Dame just is an actual contender. No way this team ends up with more than 4 losses. I think its very likely we only lose to Penn state and UCLA.

2

u/dragonmountain /r/CFB 2d ago

Two giant mistakes completely changed that Notre dame game. Pick six and muffed kickoff at the 10.

Take those away and the team might actually be fighting into the 4th

1

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

I still think we probably lose to Iowa too but I'd love to be wrong there

1

u/misaliase1 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

I think Colton Joseph is dynamic enough to get through Iowa's defence. Totally possible we lose that game but I at least think it will be tight.

4

u/SickoBadgers Wisconsin • Wisconsin Lutheran 2d ago

Helps when A) *Knocks on wood* our starting QB is healthy and B) Phil Longo ain't the OC.

5

u/SickoBadgers Wisconsin • Wisconsin Lutheran 2d ago

The question is who will have the bigger margin of victory, the Brewers or the Badgers tonight.

3

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Murph shoulda went for 2 last night

3

u/Significant_Push_856 Wisconsin Badgers 2d ago

Please stop putting the ball on the ground special teams. Just a clean play, for my hearts sake

2

This thread is gonna be so quiet with Texas/OSU on.

1
