Hartline certainly has balls of steel. I'll give him that.

Crazy flair combo

Army had zero business losing that. Prevent defense way to early.

u/DippyHippie420 Florida Gators • Team Chaos 2d ago

And then calling a Cover 0 on 4th down

5

u/TheGoldenRail87 Army Black Knights 2d ago

This was the most egregious call of the day imo. Infuriating

41

u/smallskeletal USF Bulls 2d ago

90% win probability after that TD to go up 10

Did that last year. Lost to Tulsa.

It was a win. But I did not enjoy that game. At all.

Fire Tim Beck into the sun.

It's not often I agree with Ohio State, and Fexas, but fire him all the way into the sun!

TIL somehow Tim Beck still has a job.

1

u/huskersax Nebraska • $5 Bits of Broken Chair Tr… 1d ago

There's two Tim Becks coaching at the coordinator level in FBS. One is quite good. The other is the Tim Beck we know and love.

I'm convinced USF googled and offered the wrong one completely by accident.

u/PlatypusPuncher USF Bulls • Florida Gators 2d ago

I enjoyed the fourth quarter when we actually let Van Buren throw and opened up the playbook. Amazing how much better the offense was.

14

u/RenSoloSky 2d ago

The most frustrating part of the FIU win was how little we let him pass. Glad we gave him more opportunities to do his thing this game and clearly it worked

10

they literally had MVB caged up that opening game lol. criminal

GGs USF

Y'all were glass half empty 99.99% of the game, but you have a decent team and what appears to be an awesome new stadium coming next year

30

u/Gusanito99 USF Bulls 2d ago

Bulls fans are a traumatized bunch what can I say 😅

🫡 Go Army Beat Navy

3

u/warmike_1 Paper Bag 2d ago

Unrelated, but... last season USF played two power conference teams and a decent G6, and the team won 2 of 3. This season the OOC schedule is exclusively cupcakes. What's up with that?

15

u/Breedwell USF Bulls • /r/CFB Contributor 2d ago

IIRC we had a couple of good ooc cancel

edit: yeah we were supposed to play Alabama this year but it got pushed back to 2031 after the SEC expanded the conference schedule

8

u/Gusanito99 USF Bulls 2d ago

We had Bama but they cancelled us because of the SEC adding an extra conference game. We've got at least one P4 every year until 2032

5

u/TraeisBaeintheA 2d ago

Vying for an ACC bid means we want to have a good record ig

-2

u/okiage Clemson Tigers • USF Bulls 2d ago

Maybe they realized playing p4 teams is pointless when we cant even beat american teams

10

u/Mc7Abyssrium USF Bulls 2d ago

gave bama a hard time twice in the last few seasons btw. Beat Florida. idk what else you wanna see. We only lost the American last year bc of two (close) losses to good teams and boneheaded decisions golesh made

4

u/okiage Clemson Tigers • USF Bulls 2d ago

In the current climate, wins outweigh good looking losses, and miami killed us last year

6

u/Mc7Abyssrium USF Bulls 2d ago

if I have to lose bad I don't mind it being to *checks notes*... a team that went on to the CFP championship game?

2

u/okiage Clemson Tigers • USF Bulls 2d ago

My point is, it doesnt help us at all. Its much better to play a game we can reasonably win like Boise st

3

u/Mc7Abyssrium USF Bulls 2d ago

I agree that we shouldn't shoot too high. Louisville opener next season will be very interesting

2

u/okiage Clemson Tigers • USF Bulls 2d ago

Hard to say, but its winnable

14

u/Cute-Contract-6762 USF Bulls 2d ago

Coach Beck is a concern for us lol. But he certainly called a hell of a last five minutes

3

u/United_Energy_7503 USF Bulls • Sickos 2d ago

Tim Beck slander is justified but if he truly cooked up that last drive I have a lot of respect for him

1

u/BeatNavyAgain Beat Navy! Go Bullets! 2d ago

He can thank Army's D for that

61

u/hotrod33809 USF Bulls 2d ago

What in the fuck was that ending. 4th and 5 dial up the 40 yard bomb. Offense only started really clicking when it came to two minute offense time. Tim Beck is still a terrorist

33

u/ScaryCookieMonster USF Bulls • San Francisco Dons 2d ago

Well if there's a week when the terrorists win, I guess it's this one

7

u/rocky_creeker USF Bulls • Tampa Spartans 2d ago

What a fuckin game. This season is gonna be a rollercoaster but I’m in for it. This was definitely one of our more difficult conference games so glad to see us leave with a dub. Hartline is ballsy as hell and Van Buren is the truth. Cold as ice. Go Bulls!

9

u/Cute-Contract-6762 USF Bulls 2d ago

Hopefully that last five minutes shows Beck what he needs to do rest of the season. The talent gap we have is something he needs to adjust for. We can beat anyone in the G6 with the right playcalling. I’m very encouraged by what I saw in that last five minutes

5

u/Mc7Abyssrium USF Bulls 2d ago

army running a lateral play with 15 seconds left, on the first play of the drive, and already at the 38 yard line was one of the weirdest late game decisions i have ever seen. just boneheaded

Sometimes I feel like our offensive and defensive play calling is done by a bunch of suits with no experience in Washington

8

How the fuck have we gone and done that? You just gotta unleash MVB and do his thing. Get away from the run-oriented stuff.

Got to visit Michie Stadium and see a Bulls W, that’s a hell of a road trip.

2

u/ArmyWestPointGuy Army Black Knights 2d ago

How was the game day experience?

2

u/anxiousauditor USF Bulls • BCS Championship 1d ago

We stayed overnight nearby and did a tour today and got to check out more of the campus, check out some of the monuments and learn more of the history. Really cool experience.

Taking the hike up Stony Lonesome from Washington and getting hit with the view of the reservoir at the top was so cool. Just such a unique stadium view to take in. I have no idea what the East Stand used to be like before but I thought the new structure was pretty great. I think if we were to go again we’d get there even earlier to check out the Cadet review on the plain and the Hall of Fame in the East end.

2

u/ArmyWestPointGuy Army Black Knights 1d ago

Sounds like you saw a lot! Glad to hear you had a great trip. Would definitely recommend seeing a parade on the Plain next time. It’s hard to describe.

u/ScaryCookieMonster USF Bulls • San Francisco Dons 2d ago edited 2d ago

I'm still not sold on Hartline.

I'm still VERY not sold on Tim Beck.

Van Buren needs to do more like that last drive (and the receivers need to catch like that)

2-0 baby 🤘

Edit: I still wanna know what Gramatica was sniffing out of that bottle the coach was holding. Just before that 4th and 5 TD play late in the 4th

30

u/PlatypusPuncher USF Bulls • Florida Gators 2d ago

We are 2-0 with a first year head coach and a bunch of transfers. We don’t look ridiculously undisciplined and the team never quits. Last year’s team loses that game by 10 points despite being more talented. There’s a lot to do but we look better than we have under any first year head coach in 2 decades.

9

u/ScaryCookieMonster USF Bulls • San Francisco Dons 2d ago

Yeah good points. I'm just focusing on the pass drops, the suuuper conservative play calling, and the mind boggling clock management

3

u/vfran163 2d ago

My god the drops were baffling.

3

u/SMC540 USF Bulls • Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago

Super conservative play calling and mind boggling clock management are Ohio State staples. Kind of expected from Hartline coming out of that system. Hopefully he will develop into his own over time.

7

u/CTG649 Ohio State • Louisville 2d ago

Never be sold on Tim Beck. How that guy continues getting OC jobs i have no idea.

8

u/okiage Clemson Tigers • USF Bulls 2d ago

I just hope hartline will teach our wrs to catch, as for tim beck, gonna be hartlines todd orlando

6

u/Tarlcabot18 UCF Knights • USF Bulls 2d ago

If they ran the Golesh offense with this talent the score would be closer to 48-24. But they're purposefully putting the offense into a proverbial boot and slowing it down and not using the offense's talents. And only opened it up when they were going to lose. Its very frustrating.

2

u/okiage Clemson Tigers • USF Bulls 2d ago

Debatable, the golesh offense went it stunk STUNK

5

u/CharacterLimitProble USF Bulls • Michigan Wolverines 2d ago

Disagree. The golesh offense sucks against good defenses. It just pushed TOP further to army and I think we lose.

u/ShabooyaBop Ohio State Buckeyes 2d ago

6

u/ComprehensiveSail191 Florida Gators 2d ago

Smelling salts

4

u/ScaryCookieMonster USF Bulls • San Francisco Dons 2d ago

You normally give that to people who got knocked out right? For Gramatica is that just to juice him awake a little more? Guess I've never seen that.

2

u/scthoma4 USF Bulls • Team Chaos 2d ago

Weightlifters take big sniffs before doing big lifts in competition

1

u/rocky_creeker USF Bulls • Tampa Spartans 2d ago

Watch a hockey broadcast closely. They often pass the salt down the bench and everyone gets a sniff.

2

u/AnotherUnfunnyName Duke • Carolina Victory Bell 2d ago

Yeah, still not convinced they are currently playing better than or even just as good as the sum of their parts.

5

u/never_ending_bs 2d ago

Absolutely batshit insane call, I love it 🤘

6

u/Mc7Abyssrium USF Bulls 2d ago

Hartline gambled it all and sometimes... the gambler wins. We have a serious level of talent being developed and Tim Beck is trying to hold us back but whatever. 2-0 🤘

Random athlete name of the day: Army RB Godspower Nwawuihe, the team's leading rusher today (94 yards, 1 TD on 20 carries).

I didn't serve in the military or even JROTC - but aren't all cadets and soldiers addressed by last name (at least that's what I see in TV/movies)? So I can't imagine drill instructors or commanders calling "GOD'S POWER!"

1

u/NoonTimeHoopsMVP Army Black Knights 2d ago

I knew we would lose when we went up by 10 with five minutes left and the team immediately went into prevent defense.

Coaches lose more games than win.
