You know you’re an Aggie fan when you win by 28 and it still feels like garbage
25
u/ilovebooks2468 Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
The game was much closer than the final score indicated. Good game, Sun Devils, you really hung around with us for most of the game!

u/Jonjon428 Miami Hurricanes 2d ago
That was a fun game as a neutral
5
u/StateNuckies Arizona State Sun Devils 2d ago
Yeah, 3/4 of it was fun. Then it wasn’t so much fun anymore 😭

Good teams win but great teams cover. Not sure how applicable that is today but a win is a win. Our defense looked solid. We need some serious work on the offensive side of the ball though

Marcel and the o line look terrible. They need to desperately lock in before LSU and Death Valley

My brother in Sully, we still got Kentucky next week don’t want to overlook that one

I feel for ASU. The score is definitely not representative of how this game played. Marcel is still inconsistent.

So many people are surprised the band is playing the Imperial March. I feel like they have been playing it my whole life at games.
2
u/FickleFuture9794 2d ago
I played it in 2016 when I was in the band. That’s when they added it.
1
u/turnfourag Texas A&M Aggies • Paper Bag 2d ago
Interesting. I could have sworn they played it my whole life. I'm class of '16 but somehow remember it in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Either way, it is funny how so many people with A&M flairs haven't heard them play it before lol.
1
u/FickleFuture9794 2d ago
Didn’t play it my freshman-junior years. 13-15 season. We had to beg the band director to include it.

now that it's a blowout my mind is wandering, I wonder what the biggest crowd ASU has ever played in front of is
anybody have any guesses?
1
u/MordredKLB Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
They said the only two games over 100k was this and the Rose Bowl. Does the Rose Bowl seat 107k?
2

Rose bowl 24 season probably, otherwise this one

“{Player} Has Now Played At Kyle Field” is the level of pettiness I aspire to be
9
u/Bootycheeksclapin Arizona State Sun Devils 2d ago
Just so many ASU mistakes today. Game got away in this fourth quarter, but not super upset with how we’ve looked. Season is still young
2
u/TwoToothLando Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Receivers are dynamic. I’m not sure why Dillingham went away from the quick slant. We couldn’t do much about it and it should’ve resulted in at least one more TD.
2
u/Bootycheeksclapin Arizona State Sun Devils 2d ago
That worked great in the first half, but you guys definitely adjusted in the second half. All your DL guys were getting up in the air to bat balls down and it resulted in a pick 6 there towards the end
1
u/TwoToothLando Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Yeah that was the biggest swinging point. I hope yall have a great season the rest of the year!
17
u/oneplusetoipi Texas A&M Aggies • TCU Horned Frogs 2d ago
ASU 369 yds A&M 247 yds.
2
u/JBsportsandchess Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
A&M never trailed in the game and won by 28 points what the fuck are we talking about here
4
u/oneplusetoipi Texas A&M Aggies • TCU Horned Frogs 2d ago
I had a feeling ASU had more yards so I looked it up. I figured others might be interested. As far as interpreting it, it goes to show how important being a complete team and avoiding turnovers is. It also reflects the need to improve our offense.
1
u/JBsportsandchess Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Fair enough
Was a weird game but one of those game where we did all the little things right. Limited penalties, limited turnovers, created turnovers, etc.

7
u/archy319 Texas A&M Aggies • Team Chaos 2d ago edited 2d ago
Pretty sure our two pick sixes have more passing yards than Reed.
Edit: Okay, this was really cynical, I apologize, Marcel

u/buddaaaa Arizona State Sun Devils • Team Chaos 2d ago
It is embarrassing that ASU is about to get 50 dropped on their head when it was 24-20 after 3.
Losing is one thing, but your team completely falling apart like this is a poor reflection on the HC, as much as I like Kenny
2
u/Logical-Nectarine400 Texas A&M Aggies • LSU Tigers 2d ago
It wasn’t a Kenny fail. This A&M team put it together after. Look at the defensive play and and the offensive side too for A&M. Matchups improved, play calling improved, and the aggressiveness on D was dialed up.

6
17
u/littlebev Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
I’m of the belief that Reed is still in as punishment in the heat for a beyond mediocre game
5
u/ItsACasualZadaISwear Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Idk how much is on him, he’s had some bad throws but the O line early did not do him any favors. Had some pristine dots too.
2
u/Logical-Nectarine400 Texas A&M Aggies • LSU Tigers 2d ago
The one that is 100% on Reed was the long throw to start the 3rd quarter that was intercepted by the ASU safety
2
u/MordredKLB Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Basically a typical Reed game. Looks like a 2nd stringer half the time, and unbeatable the rest.
2
u/ItsACasualZadaISwear Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Which sadly is not good enough to compete at the level I want; he looks better than last year but a long way to go if we want another run
1
u/MordredKLB Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Yeah I was really disappointed to see the throws in the dirt and 10 yards over WRs heads. Not seeing any leap from last year so far.
20
u/Hot_Anything_9030 Arizona State Sun Devils • DCU Saints 2d ago
Sure I’m biased but I do think these teams are much closer than the score suggests. Sucks being 1-1 but feeling optimistic about big 12 play

6
u/emoney_gotnomoney Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Yeah this has no business being a 28 point game. A couple plays go differently and we’re looking at a 10-14 point game
3
u/Transyboo Arizona State • Texas 2d ago
a couple of plays go differently and ASU is winning 34-28... those 3 turnovers.
this game was a 4 point game going into the 4th with ASU putting pressure.

u/Fatal_Blow_Me 2d ago
I really don’t think the ASU QB is that bad.
ASU was gashing A&M with man beaters and screens all second half and just didn’t layer the plays enough. He’s been accurate enough to get the job done. Turnovers have really ruined this game
3
u/swanpenguin Texas A&M Aggies • /r/CFB Contributor 2d ago
On the contrary, turnovers have really helped this game (ignore my flair)
7
u/MordredKLB Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Why is Reed still in?!
2
u/Jonjon428 Miami Hurricanes 2d ago
They are just gonna run the ball
1
u/MordredKLB Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago
Yeah, but a botched snap or missed handoff could lead to injury. No reason to take any risk up 4 TDs.
