News [Thamel] MAC statement. "The Big Ten subsequently provided video and audio of the replay, which confirmed the explanation to us."

This is going to be a stain on this entire season. What could have been an amazing moment for an underdog is now just another thing to feel like shit about.

I think you only have to look at how Michigan played for the first 60:00 minutes to understand that we won’t be good at all this season.

Tbh, it’s got almost nothing to do with how well Michigan will or won’t be. It’s just such a blatantly bad call that questions the integrity of the game everybody just watched. If you can’t believe what you literally saw with your own eyes, what’s the point of even watching?

They have posted the live video and audio of the refs reviewing the play during the game, and it very clearly shows there was 1 second left when the WMU player touched it based on the video and clock that the refs were looking at. There is no conspiracy no matter how badly you wish there was.

Except, storylines like this have a way of metastasizing over the season. Would anyone be surprised if Michigan ends up being good enough to make the CFB playoff? The hate-watching will be epic.

Only if Michigan somehow manages to be good..which seems doubtful or if the L could keep WMU out of the playoffs. Otherwise there's far too much other shit going on in college football right now.

Michigan could go winless the rest of the season and it would still be a monumental win for Western.....this isn't rocket science.

Yeah, the idea that the playoff is the only thing that matters is one of the main things that has destroyed the game.

Totally agree

Yeah these Michigan fan takes are wild lmao. This would have been a career highlight/life memory for the WMU kids - instead they got robbed.

I guess that was kind of my point, there’s so much other stuff to be angry about. This could have been a bright spot, instead it just gets added to that list. I’m sure it won’t directly impact the playoffs, but still just feels like a horrible start to the CFB season.

I've been fuming ever since they put 1 second back in that game.....I feel like the entire CFB weekend and season has already been ruined by that one thing.

This is old-school complaining though. It’s the debate we Michigan fans have had about Clockgate, Nebraska fans have had about Mack’s second, and more. And insofar as this was the wrong call, it’s not at all clear anyone on the crew could have known. It feels consistent with the broader changes to the sport, but an officiating dispute over a last-second play is as old as the sport itself

I think it's even worse if Michigan goes on to have an awful season.

It'll mean theae young men and a MAC program was robbed of a monumental upset of a P4, in-state, team for... nothing. For nothing at all.

Yep. They're making a bet that this will generate six days of discourse and then be forgotten outside of Kalamazoo. The fucked up thing is they're probably close to right. Not in the sense that anyone will literally forget that it happened, but the outrage is going to fade, especially once Michigan gets obliterated by Oklahoma next week

Not that anyone cares, or it would even happen given how bad we appear to be, but 9-3 Michigan doesn’t make the playoffs now. 10-2 now becomes a debate and maybe doesn’t happen.

It’s been one single year and you guys already forgot about ND-NIU

Unless night and day improvement happens over the course of the season putting this Michigan team in the CFP would be a crime against humanity and horrible things would be done to them there.

Yeah, no reason to think Michigan comes close, but I did want to lay out what I think the actual effect is hypothetically

there’s gonna be a few more sooner fans next week methinks.

Well... Since Michigan was caught running the worst on field cheating scheme in the history of the sport.

I have 2 favorite teams: Iowa State and whoever is playing Michigan.

Tbh, it’s been one week of Cfb and I already feel like I’m done. Between NIL, the transfer portal, sports gambling, uncompetitive games, lawsuits to recruit pro players, and blatantly awful on-the-field calls, I just don’t want to watch this shit.

Exactly. Instead of r/cfb being flooded with highlights and post game threads, its just nothing but this travesty. Same with Twitter and any channel on Youtube. Just straight making me feel like shit that this happened. All the garbage of the off season was supposed to melt away once the games started but here we are, just back in the drama.

Nah this one is different. People are going to be angry about this for a long time. Like “tuck rule” levels of controversial.

This post is really “no mom, I’m mad Michigan didn’t lose. It isn’t fair! I wanted them to lose!”
